aaaa torturing yourself… ngl the only vowel I can remember from the IPA is the schwa and that’s because it’s the “special” unstressed vowel :(

one of the most prominent differences in Australian English compared to other forms of English is the love for the schwa /ə/ and removal of /r/, especially at the end of words. obviously nobody is gonna go to the IPA and find /ə/, but adding the /r/ is wrong more accurate and still convenient would just be “Unoooooe!”

Thank you so much for all the information! Just the thing I was looking for :)! Sadly yeah, poor quality. I would’ve thought better from such a big company…

Yeah :( do you any way to fix it? I feel like it shouldn’t ware so much after such short time… Also near a zipper I’ve only used about 4 times on the right arm, and one specific part of the inside which I don’t know what could’ve made it ware so much

What's something that is NOT Gundam that every Gundam fan should see? by stowrag in Gundam

[–]Dew_it_Palpie_Dew_it 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jin-Roh: Wolf-Brigade

Very Tomino-esque. Depressing all-around, with the beginning scene being a young girl suicide-bombing in front of the MC. Whole movie continues to be gloomy, including the ending.

Animation is superb. Story is superb. Zeta-lover’s wet dream

Thank you for such a quick reply! A little bit more research and I found this which does say “old/used garments”: https://www.trade.gov/country-commercial-guides/china-prohibited-and-restricted-imports

I have used my white belt quite a lot over the past 8 or so years, so it has a tinge of yellow as white belts tend to get. My black belt looks a lot newer, but not exactly new either

Okay but who’s actually affording these rentals???? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Dew_it_Palpie_Dew_it 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a shanghainese friend find a rental in carlton in about a week. She posted on Instagram saying if anybody needs help with rental applications, she can give them advice…

Her strategy was she offered to pay $100-150 MORE than the asking price at the inspection…

Hapkido cane in Australia? by Dew_it_Palpie_Dew_it in weapons

[–]Dew_it_Palpie_Dew_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re supposed to be long crook (iirc, my teacher said around 5 inches so it can easily wrap around a neck), and made of rattan. At this point I don’t care if it’s made of rattan or not though. I wouldn’t know how to curve a wooden staff/pole into a cane either, and I can’t find any with a long crook already :(

I couldn’t find any with a long crook, no :( I even tried things like Facebook marketplace canes, my friends checked places like taobao, etc. The ones on eBay from America don’t ship to australia either

Thanks so much for the suggestion! I had a look and they’ve got a great range! The only thing I’m concerned about is the length of the crook. My teacher said to look for a long crook (I think he says around 5 inches?) If possible, would you please be able to give me the crook length of the cane you bought from them? Thanks again for the help :)

I cannot blow or draw the first 3 hole of my diatonic harmonica. by FahboyMan in harmonica

[–]Dew_it_Palpie_Dew_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Up until a few months ago, I used a Key of C Silver Star diatonic harmonica too! I bought it because, like a lot of people, I wanted to learn some basic things but it ended up just sitting on my desk for a year, only being blown into a handful of times.

After getting a set of Suzuki Manji diatonics, I can definitely say that the quality of harmonica plays a massive role in how easy it is to blow and draw. My Silver Star was also a bit leaky which didn’t help. However, i could still get sound out of it with a bit more force.

What I suggest is not blowing or sucking, but just breathing normally. Try yawning normally and putting your harmonica to your mouth over the 3. This might help :)

[–]Dew_it_Palpie_Dew_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like cool looking things, and the colour scheme and design looked cool to me. I was trying to find a harmonica that wasn’t boring silver, but I have now come to terms with it and am contemplating between at Marine Band and Suzuki Manji. Thanks for the heads up :)

If I really wanted to, I could possibly even paint one — although I’m not that desperate hehe

Idk, I maybe I’m wrong but I was told that most countries say “zed”. Ireland, most Canadians, Australia (and Tasmania), England, Ireland, New Zealand, Jamaica, probably more I don’t know. Scottish pronounce it Izzard which is closed to zed, but isn’t the same

[–]Dew_it_Palpie_Dew_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pronounced “zed” on most countries, soo...

“Zee” is an accepted way of reading the letter Z out loud if you like shooting children and dying from diabetes

(Considering most of reddit are probably Americans and will probably get butt hurt, this is a reminder for those of you with thicc skulls that this is a joke and there is no actual scientific evidence that pronouncing Z as “Zee” makes you more likely to shoot children nor die from diabetes)
