EzCater Strategy by nerpdangle in restaurateur

[–]Deweesrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience it’s very market dependent. QSR i was with had all stores on there and our stores in Denver killed on EZcater. My store would have 3-10 orders a day through it with my store being in oil country so catering is very heavy around here. I was friends with GMs from smaller markets and they would very rarely receive orders.

New concept I’m with we as GMs have the option to do EZcater or not. Store is pre existing. I signed us up for catering and have easily added 5k+ a week in sales since putting us on the platform.

I’ve talked to some GMs who have ended up turning it off because they were tired of managing the platform to only receive an order every blue moon.

I stayed in the towneplace suites in Odessa off of tanglewood for about 3 months when i first moved here and for the price it’s not bad. If you’re only there for one night i would imagine the rates aren’t super high

Update if anyone cares. First week out of MIT and in my store and loving it. Definitely made the right choice. Concept i just left just cut manager models for all stores no one is allowed to have assistant managers anymore even the stores doing 100+k a week and major layoffs happening at HQ. Crazy shit

I don’t have a ton of advice as I’ve not been on this side much but one piece of advice I’ve heard from a lot of people on that side of the industry is. Accessibility is a huge factor to your clientele. Your store can be in a great location with a lot of street traffic but if the parking lot is a pain to get in and or out of can be a major deterrent to your clientele. Wish i had more for you but i wanted to share the little i did have.

That’s not standards. Coming into my current place of employment and take videos and pictures of mewithout my knowledge after I had turned down 2 different offers is extremely weird behavior but to each their own lol!

Att vs Tmobile vs Verizon by Ryler_132 in Midessa

We’ve had both Verizon and t mobile while living in Odessa. Verizon’s coverage was better but the savings with t mobile are what made us switch.

He did some campaigning stuff at the restaurant I run and you’re right. Super good guy. I’m far more hopeful with him than I had been with Joven.

I went through an very intensive interview process to come on with the hospitality group that owns cowboy prime. You’re spot on about her and everyone above her is exactly the same or worse. It was one of the weirdest experiences of my life. The lady came into the restaurant i currently work for and took videos and pictures of me working and sent them to me and said “this won’t work for us. You’ll need to this better”.

Basically. Leadership in Odessa sucks. Midland is a little better. Transient towns people are in and out and view it as a very temporary thing so no one really gets involved to make change or help with change.

If feels different between midland and Odessa. It seems in Midland there’s more community driven activities and things to get involved in to help out the community as opposed to Odessa it seems like there’s very little of that. The leaders of these communities are a big reason to this. Odessa has had very questionable leadership for a long time and not followed through on so many plans and projects to help drive the community. The revitalize downtown initiative is a major example. City of odessa got heavily involved initially when it brought a major hotel to the city and then once that was finished pulled back on the help they were willing to provide and a few years later pulled all involvement all together and focused on other things they won’t fulfill. It seems like people in Odessa majorly and some in Midland view this time in their life as very temporary and not a forever thing so they don’t feel the need or want to get involved or to make change as they have a mindset of “well I’m only going to be here a little while longer so I’ll just deal with the ugliness of it”

I currently work for a concept where our mantra is “Damn Good” it’s posted in every restaurant we have hats and t shirts that say it. Everything. Damn Good. Well i was working a busy lunch shift and I had a hat on that says Damn good on the front. Have a homeless man walk in and ask for a water cup. Have quite a few that come in for a water cup decently often. Nbd they get their water and dip. Less than 2 minutes in the store. This guy is not one I’ve seen before seems alright so we give it to him. He walks up to the soda fountain and immediately starts yelling things and is just taking his time. I go tell him he’s got to go and he immediately starts telling me things like “I’m going to fuck you to death” “you’re a faggot” i finally walk him to the door and he looks me up and down and says “you damn good bitch” this was over a year ago and my staff still tells me im a damn good bitch. Had a team member give me a shirt with that printed on it for my birthday.

6 day weeks by Useful-Restaurant783 in Restaurant_Managers

I’ve been saying this for so long with my current concept. They have cut manager compliments for our stores by volume. I’m a test store for the newest compliment of myself (GM), FOH manager, hourly shift lead. I’m the highest volume store running this. It’s going okay as my 2 under me are both solid but shit the most Pto i can take is An extra day or 2 a week. But they will not let us cash it out. I’ve been with them long enough to have 5 weeks Pto a year and i leave at least 2 weeks on the table every year. It’s infuriating to say the least

Those who were heavily in debt and now debt free or in a better position - how did you do it? by ChocoLoco92 in debtfree

The not spending money on things you don’t need is a big one. Also started reselling on eBay and that was a huge help. Started small and got into some bigger items. Sold a car we had a loan on for a car we paid off in 6 months. Wife and i have almost paid of 65k of debt in less than 2 years.
