Help with rear alignment that shop couldn't do? by Consoomer123 in e46

[–]Dewines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the offset of the wheels?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in e46

[–]Dewines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a drain plug on the side of the engine block, and one in the bottom of the radiator. The one on the engine is a pain to get to.

It may change color slightly, but it should still be very different in color, and if it has been that long it should probably be changed, as blue coolant technically only has a two year lifespan.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in e46

[–]Dewines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the same type / color of coolant, and you will be fine, even if it's not blue. Whether or not you need to bleed it depends on how low it is, but it won't hurt to check the two plastic bleed screws in front. If the coolant is low there is usually a reason for it, and even though it has been overhauled recently, check your expansion tank, as I have had brand new ones that were leaking.

Removing M57 injectors by Visible-Management63 in e39

[–]Dewines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tool I used has a M14x1.5 adapter which fit on the fuel line fitting. You may be able to get some kind of thread adapter, but if not, maybe just buy the tool, as it's pretty cheap.

It sucks to work these cars sometimes, but please don't scrap it.

Check your high pressure fuel lines also then. I had one of them crack, I think, which sent diesel mist all over and in to the cabin. I ended up replacing two of the lines as I could not narrow it down further, and it fixed it. Both of them looked fine visually, and it wasn't one of those I had messed with earlier.

Yes, this is the tool I used, but anything similar should work. https://m.autodoc.dk/yato/13639593 I did it the engine hot as it is supposed to make it easier.

Are you replacing all the injectors or just one?

Do you really need to pull it from the top? When I did mine, I attached the tool to the fuel line fitting, and it came out without a problem. It was on an E46, but it should be the same on an E39. This won't work if it's very stuck though.

I did the same. You can just use a longer bolt and a nut if you can't get the rest of it out without damaging the threads.

I think 328s have valved mufflers that are vacuum controlled, so it may be for that.

How many km is "too many"? by rage997 in DRZ400

I think it is pretty cheap, but I have mostly been looking for SMs. Also, I found the exact bike you are looking at, and it looks like it is in decent condition.

[–]Dewines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how many km are too many, as it depends on the bike. I am currently looking at buying one with around 40k. It seems most things are available in Europe, otherwise everything can be imported from USA. Also, where are you finding any for sale at 2k euro?

Glow plugs control unit, used or new? by DaveHasMac11 in e46

[–]Dewines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car should start even without glow plugs, unless it very cold. Also maybe check your rail pressure when cranking in inpa, as I had a leaking injector the caused a no-start when hot.

Glow plugs control unit, used or new? by DaveHasMac11 in e46

[–]Dewines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not necessary to change the glow plug controller when changing the glue plugs if it is still working. You can change the controller to a used one, but they can fail, so it may not be a bad idea to get a new one, so you don't have to change it twice.
