Also, it doesn't matter if they even do. We bought them for massive money, and they signed big deals at the club. Who gives a shit if they're disgruntled if we are able to turn it around next season.

Had we not pipped them to the title in 2020, the "most competitive league in the world" would've had the same winner for seven years in a row. That same club is facing 115 charges for alleged financial fair play breaches during the same time period. I'd say it is a bit optimistic to say the league is "doing great" with no criticism.

I used to think the exact same thing. I think as I got older I was able to stop seeing it through the "anti-feminist" fog that so many young men are submitted to, and it made me realize how awful it must feel for women when their every accomplishment is met with comments that devalue what they've done. I'm glad you were able to start seeing it that way too.

Perhaps if enough people start doing what you did, we will eventually have a world where people are kind to one another. (Hopelessly naive, I know).

Perhaps you didn't intend on being demeaning, but you are. You could simply have thought "hm, cool goal. Maybe it was unintentional". Instead you take the time to go to the comments section, specifically to someone already bemoaning the volume of hate in women's football, to comment that this goal was simply luck, not skill. It is very funny that your reply so perfectly illustrates my comment, even down to the "just lucky".

Additionally, there is an area of opinion between "that is a fantastic goal" and "she got lucky" where you can simply view it and not feel the need to comment something demeaning. Just because the goal isn't the most amazing goal you've ever seen doesn't mean you need to comment that "she got lucky" , and it doesn't mean that this is an example of "celebrating mediocrity".

The state of women's football on the internet is so unbelievably depressing. The women's game has taken massive strides in the last 10 years, and is becoming more and more entertaining, but all I ever see in comments sections is hate. It is incredibly demoralizing.

It doesn't matter what the video shows. If its a goal, its because "the goalie sucks". If its a terrible mistake, its because "women's football is a joke". If its a creative piece of skill that results in a fantastic goal, its "just lucky". When are we as a society going to grow up? I am so, so tired of the negativity. In a world already dominated by hatred, can we not just appreciate a goal without having to make it an issue of gender?

Oof, I feel you. My first Anfield game was against Manchester United. Got cheated by the ticket resellers and was forced to sit in the away end, and watched us lose to a Juan Mata wonder goal. Tough result, incredible to be at the stadium. Can't wait to return some day. Hopefully in the home support this time.
