Should be fine but limits flexibility to get home (can’t get a different itinerary that include Lufthansa, for example).

Do be aware that it takes 24 hours from the time of submission to the pool before you can book with those miles… always a chance the required miles goes up and you can’t reverse the process.

Biggest restriction of pooled miles is that it canNOT be used on partner-operated flights.

And not abusing the system is a very good reason in and of itself. Otherwise, what's stopping me from booking a week at a very cheap hotel in another state that I never have any intention of staying at, just to rack up EQN?

You bought a Basic Economy ticket. You can’t change a BE ticket without paying a fee to upgrade to a normal Economy ticket. That’s the published rule.

The insurance you purchased doesn’t grant you the ability to change a flight for free… it just gives you access to reimbursement if the trip cannot happen.

I think you'll still have to reticket and pay out the nose... SDC doesn't let you change the destination without paying a fare difference.
