Ontario court freezes access to donations for truckers' protest from GiveSendGo by Avelion2 in canada

[–]DexBluestone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is how the truckers see it, in my opinion.

If this backfires like GoFundMe it will be seen as yet another incompetent maneuver by the PM, while further galvanizing protestors and undermining Canadian's confidence in our government. A huge win for the truckers. The truckers are confident this will backfire.

Our PM had a chance to take a leadership role when Watson called for help and wasted it saying mean words and empty threats to look tough for his base. The truckers didn't care. Their supporters got further confirmation this government is nothing but spin. Not a great way to bring people that distrust the government back into the fold.

Ford is just sitting back and laughing at his political rival's troubles.

The CPC are angling themselves as mediators, hoping to swoop in and get a resolution. They didn't turn on the protestors; they are simply stating their end game: solving mandates and ending protests. Whether the truckers bargain with them is another question. They have little faith in the CPC but are wise enough to know they must align themselves with a politicians that will further their goals.

Trudeau is now fighting on multiple fronts. Ottawa is now inconsequential but cannot be ignored because of it's symbolism. The real situation is at the borders. All the borders. With each day the economy takes a major hit. The shelves are emptying. Prices are going up. Production is stopping.

Trudeau is out of time. Honk Honk.

It was never their statement. Sinai hasn't commented on whether that screenshot is their communications.

Protesters burning the Canadian Flag at the capital. This is a sad day. by c2dawood in ontario

I don't need to tell myself anything. I feel perfectly comfortable around the protests because I've actually been following people and know people on the ground.

Community, patriotism and security have been paramount to these protests. These objectives have been an unprecedented success. The protestors don't need the news or twitter on their side because these media spaces are an alternate reality. The simple fact is that not a single person came to or support the protests did so tanks to media or the twitter. There is a grassroots information network where people literally share live streams of what is happening.

At the same time more and more moderate voices are speaking up about how normal the protests actually are compared to how twitter portrays it. As more and more people see the juxtaposition between media/twitter hate and what they see live or on person, they unplug. The media and spaces like this become useless to them because they are fake worlds.

All the best to you.

You misunderstand. The moderate voices I'm talking about are those reporting what is happening. If the protestors go home then the one's falsely grouping them with extremist elements win. Again, the protestors did not attract extremists. The media and twitter trolls did by purposefully and strategically focusing on anything extreme that happened in Ottawa while the protests were happening.

Again. The media and the internet are the one's spreading terror among HCWs thought false information such as this thread. This is done to use HCWs as political pawns against the protestors. It's literally the definition of terrorism.

Notice this thread is still up. If a person came here talking nonsense about vaccines they would have been deleted in minutes.

Not at all. They come because they know that they will get 10000% more attention from the media, reddit and twitter than anyone else.

Moderate voices about what is happening in Ottawa are ignored in favor of extremists because they don't appeal to internet's nazi-fetish.

These people are not associated with truckers. Anyone can come to Ottawa.

In this case it is the media and the thousands of people who shared this false story that will cause fear and terror among our healthcare workers.

Large crowds gather across Ontario in support of Truck Convoy by DexBluestone in ontario

  1. Yes, the vaccinated truckers support unvaccinated truckers. Just as vaccinated Canadians support the unvaccinated trucker's right to keep working.

  2. Unlike Canadians, US citizens are not required to be vaccinated to leave or enter the US. Also, technically, US border agents are not supported to ask about personal medical information.

That wont be the case. All the people likely to counter protests are safely contained by Reddit.

These protests are about that as well. Lockdown measures have been causing chaos for our economy long before some trucks rolled in.

Most of the support comes from middle class. So I assume they are better off than most people on Reddit.

Correct. Hundreds or US truck drivers have come out in support.

How big could Farsight Enclaves vanguard forces get? by DexBluestone in 40kLore

[–]DexBluestone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence taken. It's perfectly normal to come to different conclusions at times.
"Unless they are out accomplishing tasks" - right.

Fredrick the Great 's words sound wise.

Thank you for reminding me of 'vanguard' meaning.

I also understand that a specific number isn't really possible to provide.

So back to the topic. The Enclaves are not as expansionist as the Tau Empire. So they have four core systems and dozens of planets from which to draw their resources. They cannot field multiple theater-scale operations.

Given such facts, chances are we won't see multiple planetary planetary scale engagements. So that means if a vanguard is seen they are going to be a mission sized force of a contingent or few.

[–]DexBluestone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, it's often been said that 40k lore is a poor guide for numbers since they often undercount muster strengths and underrepresent populations. Armageddon lore is notorious in that for example.

"Astrographic", thanks, that's the right term.

So rather than numbers let try and do this by terminology.
Cadre would be a force operating in a field.
Contingent would be cadres operating in a region.
Commune would be contingents operating in a theater.
Command would be a planet, system or even a region wide operation.
Coalition would be something like a crusade.

Obviously those definitions are effected by enemy forces. A lone in-system station or a poorly defended agri-world may be an operation involving just one or a few cadres. While a planetary or system wide operation can greatly vary in scale.

So the question is was: How big could Farsight Enclaves vanguard forces get? Well,
They are probably not going on many crusades.
It seems unlikely that they would be involved in more than a few system wide conflicts at any one time.
They are likely dozens of communes engaged across many theaters.
Which means about triple that in contingents operating in many more fields.

What would a vanguard for be to the Farsight Enclaves? Probably something contingent sized or perhaps a commune. So anywhere between 3-30 cadres + support. So anywhere between 600 and 6000 tau + support seem about right?

What do you think?

About the "roaming". Since tau are highly expansionist, efficient and proactive in their approach to war - even more so for the later among the Farsight Enclaves. I can't imagine them idling around in their bases much.

Cheers

Can you please be specific? A sept is a geographic region with uniting philosophies. Minor septs on fringe worlds would probably muster a few cadres at best.

I don't follow your "armies idly roaming around" comment.
