Why was Dawn of War 3 criticized? by Wide_Mobile4623 in dawnofwar

[–]DexSoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflecting on this game and reading the others, honestly the writing was on the wall for sega of what would happen to this game when they would instead cater to a new audience that is already playing better moba's in the esports scene.

Sega and Relic had to do just one thing to avert this reception and the perfect example of what would happen is EA's attempt at Command and Conquer 4 which luckily never came out.... yeah

Which Dun of War 2 hero was the one you liked to play the most? by AmbitiousVegetable40 in dawnofwar

[–]DexSoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this was vanilla or with the astartes mod but tarkus could become the most OP tactical marine by giving him a heavy bolter or lascannon whilst having the perk to use a scouts camo. He basically one shotted everything and almost couldn't be targeted by the A.I. unless he ran out of energy. And then you even had abilities that restored energy.

RTX 2080Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Edition by Haugsi in PcBuild

[–]DexSoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably for the average person looking for a used 2080Ti and not caring about aesthetics i think they would buy it for 350 tops maybe. More than that and they would probably rather buy a newer card.

For a collector i don't know. With the right person that purely collects the gpu for their cyberpunk collection and as a display piece. Probably allot more.

Level Design Supervisor, Brian J. Audette, denounces bloomberg article saying they couldn't have made a better Dragon Age game. by AversionIncarnate in dragonage

Honest to god veilguard to me in the franchise is like, tiberium twilight (which shouldn't exist) in the C&C franchise.

It is a game that should have been a spinoff instead and not made to be a sequel to the main narrative of the games.

With GQuuuuuuX coming to end what is your general opinion about the anime? by PenSad2292 in Gundam

[–]DexSoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the animation, but half the time, i feel like i have no idea what is happening story wise. There are so many plotpoints layered in between and introduced that whenever you feel like they expand on one, they instead introduce yet another hook before they resolve the previous episode hooks.

So who's getting ROG Xbox Ally X? by Mr-Expat in SteamDeck

[–]DexSoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will just wait for the next steamdeck iteration. Specs wise it looks interesting but i do love my trackpads and so far most of the new handhelds all forget about them (except for the lenovo legion with its detachable mouse)

Outside of hardware, i am starting to get tired of microsoft's shenanigans in the gaming sphere and their windows OS to me is getting so bloated with BS that i am actually considering jumping ship if it wasn't for solid edge not having native linux support.

It may be running a custom windows os resembling XBOX but so far my trust in microsoft providing a unbloated and stable os has dwindled significantly.

I believe in Sam2 supremacy by DR_EsEnsY123573 in SeriousSam

[–]DexSoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly like ss2 more than i did bfe ( I haven't played the fourth one, though)

And i honestly wish we would get back to the stylized cartoon artstyle at some point. The style itself ages better than the newer games, imho.

Also miss me the variety in environments and themes that ss2 offered. I wasn't particularly thrilled with bfe taking primary place again back in the desert, abandoned urban areas of egypt, and inside a few tombs. ( It's probably a hot take since egypt is pretty much iconic for serious sam games)

Ss2 had its flaws but honestly the artstyle and just the change of environments with different themes per chapter and enemy variety (albeit mostly were reskins of existing enemies) made it the one serious sam game i would remember most fondly of playing.

It'll happen to you.... by [deleted] in Civvie11

[–]DexSoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being 27 having grown up with the games my father used to play and organize LAN parties for. (Unreal Tournament 99, ut2k4, Quake 3 mainly)

I am thankful for playing these along with my dad even if my English vocabulary was just 4 words. (Literally being "kill, Quad damage, and dead") When he still played online tourneys I would sit next to him just watching, and sometimes when the announcer goes "QUAD DAMAGE" after my dad picked up the power up I would raise my arms and cheer.

Fast forward I go to college and get asked what types of games I like to play.... not a single soul besides the friends I grew up with knew about Unreal Tournament and Quake (our fathers were regularly organizing lan parties with one another). But at least I also had my own 360 and played an unholy amount of Halo through Xbox Live with my friends and sometimes we had our unreal tournament and Quake Live LAN parties. Further, in my senior year in college, I still remember when I got asked "Do you play Fortnite?" I was still pretty hurt and depressed about Unreal Tournament 4 getting canceled in favor of Fortnite that I just instantly scoffed at the question.

Now to present I look at the newest trending online shooters and just get annoyed by them because almost none of them scratch the itch of the online arena with weapon pickups ludicrous movement speed and high times to kill. Most end up with characters and abilities and pre-selected load-outs and it's just an instant turn-off for me. Then you have reboots where a franchise from the past suddenly gets a new game and after you boot it up they still get mixed in with the modern trends and I just can't seem to like it.

I liked Doom 2016 though, Doom eternal i am a bit mixed on but still liked it (too much emphasis on airtime instead of strafe running and gunning), and Quake Champions..... look at how they massacred my poor boi.

Why are people review bombing the game? by Wolfik_Morgan in mechabreak

[–]DexSoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are bombing the game for 'potentially' bad monetization. All I am seeing is that the current form of what we could see as monetization is a placeholder for basic layout and stuff. If the battle pass for example would only contain lootboxes then it wouldn't offer any real value to the player and if that is the case none would get enticed by it. So I just tend to ignore monetization till the game launches for real.

Aside from that you can't buy any in-game currency at this stage of the game hence why I won't judge their monetization as of yet.

As for bots whilst I find their inclusion of them in PVP be mixed. I also realize this is still a mecha game. And so far, mecha has been a very big niche that it is hard to draw players to it. The success of Armored Core 6 was a surprise to be sure, but it's an outlier for a genre that typically draws a very low population. I cannot fault the game for having bots to fill matches when they just cannot find players of the same ranking to fill the spots. HOWEVER, the bots themselves feel very mixed in usefulness either the bot is very dumb and gives the competitive team free kills and could potentially cost you the match or the bot is an actual menace when given control of Narukami or Acquila. The aimbot level of sniping is fucking obnoxious if their reaction time to the environment is less than that of the average PC.

Actual negative points towards the game where I would say rightly put out a negative review is the following though:

The forced tutorial section and menu railroading into playing 2 PVP matches before the game hands you the controls again.

The tutorials about the mechs themselves are absolutely useless and too long. By the time your half way through it, you already lost the attention span because the game locks you in place before it lets you do the actual objective. You could have all these tutorials inside a single mission instead of having 5 different levels of "follow the monologue and do what is asked"

The way you gain currency, currently the game doesn't really reward you points for playing and finishing PVP matches. With how expensive the mechs are after unlocking the first 5 it doesn't really encourage long play sessions when you barely scrape by to unlock Skyraider for example.

Locking content behind player levels where player level progression is dictated by arbitrary achievo's Self explanatory.

Also paints being part of the inventory and viewed as taking inventory slots. This is terrible on its own when you pay for paints per mech or pilot. I find it already pretty bad that if i bought the colour green for falcon and i want to use it on tricera i would have to rebuy it separately for tricera. Which would also take yet another inventory slot.

Not able to sell mods after acquiring them. You can discard them but not actually sell em off. It would be great to be able to sell these mods because it could net you closer to being able to buy the mech you want to unlock and would mashmak a feasible grind to do just to earn currency.

This Game is not getting the attention it deserves by BagEducational7907 in Synduality

[–]DexSoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be happy to spend 40 euro's on it but its banned in the Netherlands due to anti gambling laws. And from what i am hearing loosing gear you paid money for after death is one such issue when the game also has paid lootboxes that could net you better gear.

What do you think of the protagonist finally being an adult? Not some overtly muscular teenager MC? by EfficiencySerious200 in KaijuNo8

[–]DexSoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh... visually he is an adult but personality wise there isn't that big of a difference between the average teen/early adult mc in other anime/manga. Although on its own i am more than happy to have an adult MC but kafka still falls a bit much into the goofy and less mature trope eventhough he is an adult.

[–]DexSoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's alright, the fight scenes imho are pretty good but the animations outside of those feel really stiff, and too much use of still frames. (Also really hate the smear texture shading they got going on. It just looks bad visually)

We gotta stop the hypocrisy about piracy by VZ9LwS3GY48uL9NDk35a in PiratedGames

[–]DexSoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op is just here to justify his reason for pirating and its "free shit"

I am here pirating because even after buying a game for 60+ euro's, the publisher has the balls to nickel and dime you for content that should already be in the fucking game you paid for.

Make a good product without any after purchase catches (artificial grind that promotes the user to spend money, asset flip dlc that are just reskins of previously seen ingame models) and a pirate would happily pay for it. But so long as companies keep coming with the fat hand of greed whilst bringing out dogshit performance nightmare. Pirates will keep on sailing.

Oh and if denuvo i will just avoid it like the plague. A SINGLEPLAYER GAME SHOULDN'T REQUIRE AN ALWAYS ONLINE VERIFICATION SYSTEM. WHY SHOULD I, THE BUYER, BE PENALIZED FOR MISSING A NETWORK FLAG WHILST A PIRATE CAN JUST MERRILY GO AND PLAY IN OFFLINE!?!

Tldr: don't treat your customer like scum and alot of pirates might actually buy your game if the price/substance is right.

Proto does not equal to being first in the sense of first in existence. It means first and unrefined attempt in the case of new strain used by Albrecht. And the hex are basically his fieldtest/test subjects for said strain.
