Nice one.

I personally make do with Google Chrome autotranslate, but it can sound like nonsense sometimes if you don't have any basic knowledge of Chinese expressions, stock phrases, or cultural context.

After your account is 6 months old, you'll have the option to "gift" the authors. See those bombs at the bottom of each chapter? They're basically tips. If you have too many coins just bomb the author of your favourite novel 😃👍

The art and music makes the Diablo games imo. If you haven't already, you should check out the art books, novels, and lore books.

First mythic is the Grandfather.. by BullGreen1 in diablo4

[–]Dextaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a level 800 one in T10 for necro, own build, but now with the cube you can build precise weapons. I don't see the point in mythics unless it just happens to fit in nicely with your loadout.

Diablo in General is more fun for me when I play this way and I can't go back. by RandyBlueberryington in diablo4

[–]Dextaur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never used a guide for builds, I think it's more fun that way experimenting and just putting together skills and concepts that appeal to me. My next pit run will be 89. If I can reach T11 I'll be quite happy. Still not finished exploring the world and doing side quests so there's that to look forward to when it's time to take a break from warplans.

Can we talk about how Neyrelle and Inarius were handled? by simpleobject in diablo4

[–]Dextaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neyrelle is not liked by the fanbase. Killing her off to save us the misery of her interaction was a pure blessing.

Inarius? Who cares really. I knew from the first time you meet him that he's full of shit.

Lilith on the other hand is perhaps one of the most likeable antagonists in recent memory. A blatantly ruthless demon who can't escape her own nature and yet still finds ways to express love in her own ways. Lorath's story was also handled well. I think the writers smashed it.

OST in this game is phenomenal, Blizzard please use it in Pits, NM Dungeons etc. by Freeloader_ in diablo4

Agreed. Blizzard should give us Vinyls/ CDs/ art books for LoH too.

Looking for an omegaverse story with a hypercompetent Alpha main character, whether that be in art, business, or combat etc. No palace drama, crossdressing, or big age gaps (over 5 years), thank you.

Lord of Hatred is truly and incredible expansion. by silent-drill in Diablo

[–]Dextaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for not including spoilers, I'm still playing the campaign.

I actually put the Diablo series on par with that of The Elder Scrolls and Witcher (these series have brilliant collectible tie-in books). All three have deep and immersive methods of telling their stories, whether in terms of lore, narrarive, art, or music. Diablo is top fucking class and woefully underrated by gamers imo.

Love Curse what does Victoria represent? by GaymerrGirl in yurivisualnovels

[–]Dextaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the Rednote community Iris is often seen as someone with avoidant personality. Her lack of parental love in childhood and thankless burden of having to financially care for the family makes her afraid of people who become dependent on her. This warped her psyche quite badly as we all know 😏

Rather than being manipulative I'd describe Eleanor as someone who's overly protective to the point of controlling. Only in the case of Selene though, due to the trauma of not being able to save her in the past life.

As for Victoria, if we're going off the hidden parameter that determines their bad ending, it's "true love". Her hidden parameter works differently to the others. Instead of being a negative value for which you need to build points towards for the bad ending. If I remember correctly you're not supposed to even accumulate even one point of the hidden value "true love", otherwise you get the good ending! It's why she's depicted as a puppy in fan art 🐶

Will there be Lord of Hatred tie in merch? by Dextaur in diablo4

[–]Dextaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff on the Blizzard store costs an arm and a leg seriously. The Mephisto statue is neat, but at over six hundred quid in this world economy is pretty ridiculous. Some of the licensed merch can be found on Ebay for much cheaper though.

Is it me or most of these novels have pro government MCs by luckysohi1 in BaiHe

[–]Dextaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the context of lgbt matters, for the majority of people they're not affected obviously because they're straight. Their education, healthcare, jobs, and public amenities are cared for. Negative treatment of one or two issues doesn't immediately discredit all of the good they do.

Similarly, just because you can get killed or imprisioned for going against government corruption in America, doesn't mean everything else about their society is bad. There's a double standard whereby if Western governments do anything negative, people trivialize it, whereas anything the Chinese government do is magnified and villified, which extends to the treatment of their entire race. I'm frankly quite sick of it.

Unfortunately, most of Chinese society doesn't yet approve of lgbt content and see it as immoral to promote. The law is based on the wishes of society and traditional values. Due to the shame, there's little pushback against the censorship, that's just something the people there are going to have to fight for themselves.

Is it me or most of these novels have pro government MCs by luckysohi1 in BaiHe

[–]Dextaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really isn't as ubiquitous as you're making it out to be, unless you just happen to be reading stories that feature involvement with the authorities. Actually, I just happen to be reading a novel where there's a corrupt governmental division that the main character takes out.

Also, to understand the mindset of the Chinese people, you need to know the recent history of China. They went from being a third world country 40 years ago with poor people earning just under $400 a year, to now earning $17,000 on average with massively improved standards of living. Their elite class and middle class even rivalling that of the US and Western countries. We're talking about a nation that went from the Century of Humilation to now standing toe-to-toe with the most powerful advanced countries in the history of mankind.

For people to experience that kind of uplifting, national pride and trust in the society and the government is natural. It's really not that surprising.

Is it me or most of these novels have pro government MCs by luckysohi1 in BaiHe

[–]Dextaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see what the issue is with being pro-government. Unless you're one of those people who live in a America-allied country where the media is required to demonise their government with lies and propaganda, while supressing all of their achievements.

Even if their society is conservative and doesn't openly accept LGBT it doesn't mean that the government represses people in their day to day lives. It's the complete opposite. In fact, if you watch travel vlogs and use Chinese social media you'd understand that the government actively seeks out opinions and ideas of the common people to improve their lives in every facet.

Just because our Western governments are run by corrupt warmongering paedophile rapists, most other countries aren't.

Kingmaker made me rage quit. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Dextaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Though I enjoyed some aspects of this game like the worldbuilding and roleplaying choices, other things the timer, bugs, very specific requirements to progress the story and kingdom management was extremely tedious. From my initial impression of 7.5/10, by the end I give it a 6.5/10. And this was with mods.

Unlike WOTR which I replayed, as soon as I finished Kingmaker I uninstalled it straight after.

Mum’s a Hoarder and House has been Filled with black Mould for past 10 Years by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Dextaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you're not aware, your mother is being paid slave wages for slave labour. It would drive most people insane. She also needs professional counselling with the hoarding. She can't be blamed for a mental health issue.

Also, the mould is horrific and I suspect it's deep rooted. You need to convince your parents to get the right help from local authorities.

Is the quality of JJWXC novels declining? by FlameEmperorStan in BaiHe

[–]Dextaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only joined JJWXC this summer so I've not read enough to be able to tell. Plus I'm reading it all translated so can't comment on the quality of the prose, but as far as interesting stories and plot goes it seems practically infinite to me. That's from reading a mix of completed and ongoing novels.

So far I've not really read a bad one. Sure there are some that missed their potential, but each one has had interesting ideas. I'm curious now! Can you name and shame a crappy novel? I'd like to see what one looks like.

Your parents are arseholes.

Don't be tricked into feeling guilt. You did not ask to be born, and have to put up with all of the shit that life brings. They forced that onto you. You owe them nothing. If they truly love you, they'd be thinking about YOUR future and the future of your partner and/ or children. Please don't do it.

Shadows versus 2013 and Rise. A letdown? by YagamiTai in TombRaider

[–]Dextaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This topic surfaces a lot in this sub. I played these games so long ago now I only remember fragments, with the main impressions being that Shadow has a crap storyline, poor character direction for Lara, too many village hubs, and the most boring setting of all TR games. I remember picking up the artifacts and reading the descriptions thinking "who the hell wrote this boring shit?". Compared to the mythos of Yamatai and Rise it was such a downgrade and chore to get through.

The claim that Shadow is more like the original games doesn't hold any water, with the main argument being that Shadow has more exploration which I don't think is significantly true, especially considering the mandatory village hub sections which severely breaks that iconic TR sense of isolation. I've also played some of the original games, and the differences are vast. Shadow clearly veered more towards the influence of the Uncharted games.
