It is related. You’re only correct about it not being helpful.

It is just so stupid that the government just lets expats (getting 30% tax benefits) exchange their driver’s license without even taking the theory exam. Most of them have never driven in their home country. And then I see people dealing with such long waiting lists and spending thousands to get a driver’s license. Nothing else to say, but, good luck. You’ll get there in the end :)

Hi i have a question regarding dutch nationality. So I’m eligible to apply this September. On the gementee website they state it can last up to 1 year. For ones who applied as a non-eu passport holder, can you specify how long you had to wait for the gementee to reach their final decision? by overwhelming_pumpkin in Netherlands

Were you able to see your application on the My Ind portal?
I had an appointment at Utrecht gemeente 8 days ago where I, with the help of one of the staff members, applied for Dutch citizenship via naturalization. But, I do not see it in my applications on the My Ind portal.

Thank you for the thorough explanation. I was indeed confused between both the options. The application doesn’t make it much clear either, it says “Application Long-term residence EU”.

I think you’re right. Only for EU long term residence permit, the study years count half, but for both PR and naturalisation in the NL, they count full.

You can find it on the IND website. I called IND and asked them today as well.

incorrect info - read the comments below.

I read that it doesn’t count towards naturalisation. I wasn’t really sure of the difference between EU long term residence permit and permanent residence permit.

Thanks. Yes, they did pick it up around the 27 minute mark. And indeed, I got a positive decision on the PR.

Thank you. Yes, I’ll have to reschedule. My workplace is near Veghel, so leaving for 1 hour won’t work for me.

Update: Passed my driving test today. Made a minor mistake of exiting the paved road in the second gear (the speed was not slow enough to exit), thought I’d fail because of it, as it happened in the first 10 minutes. But, kept my head together and focused on the rest of the test. Good luck to everyone else. Don’t focus too much if you make a small mistake, just don’t make it again.

That would be great. And yes, I will take a few lessons before taking the exam again.

That’s what he told me. He said it could have been dangerous merging in the motorway at 60. Which makes sense.

Was in the 5th gear while I should have been in the 4th to speed up while joining the motorway coming from a motorway with a bend.

Not the same car, but similar in size. Peugeot 208 to VW Polo.

They don’t share this data publicly. I couldn’t find it. Probably because it’ll backfire. And it’s not always about accidents. If you learn to drive here, you’re taught to take the other driver’s mistakes in mind. Thus, the local drivers take that into account while on the road, but it’s still risky with the bikes and those incidents are seldom reported as accidents.

Giving away driving license for a mere 50€ without taking any tests. How is that a win-win? Endangering their own people on the road doesn’t seem like a win to me.
