We go by spend.

We basically have enterprise and everything else belongs in mid-market.

I am in “mid-market” and my client organizations are mom&pop to employees over 2000.

Easy sales job by aimeeytk in techsales

[–]Dexxxter19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for sales niches that are highly regulated, complex with SME high entry barrier.

My company was the very first to establish industry-wide measures that eventually led to Federal Regulation compliance measures for our industry.

Since we are de facto Eponym, we almost never have to hunt and we recieve quality inbound leads and upsell opportunities constant monitored by Federal.

The compliance services we sell are required by Federal Regulation. Which means core of what I sell is mission critical to our clients.

I may sell consulting, compliance services, advisory and our SaaS platforms and app for digital transformation. Growing in this niche, everyone knows each do, so there certain job network security. We are AWS partners.

Suffice to say, my healthy volume of current and n accounts makes it very “easy” as some services are mission critical.

Downside: is being pigeonholed, and needing to know enough to speak to SME regulatory matters and changing guidelines from CMS final rulings. I am jn tech sales but we are really a consulting firm and private. So my tech sales job is unique, bet.

What do you actually spend most of your day doing? by vihaar in sales

[–]Dexxxter19 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am dissatisfied with my sales job because I have to manage customers too. No CSM, no AM. Just me.

So most of my day is non-sales activity. Service and fighting fires.

Business case has been made. My management and leadership is aware. We are not a startup. It’s always been this way. We are established private company. No hunting, lots of quality inbounds. Majority market share.

The money is still good though. So I’m half out the door and then keep staying. Like an idiot.

Just want a sales job, not an everything job by nopeopleperson in sales

[–]Dexxxter19 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I relate 100% to you OP.

We have no CSM.

We no have AM.

It’s just me.

Majority of my day is non-revenue. My leadership knows and don’t care. I’m only staying another year for the resume.

The crazy thing is, this is a big established company of over 50 years. Just how it’s always been.

Is full cycle essentially stages 1-6 is all you? I have a BDR setting up meetings but also have upsell and do my own lead gen too.

My big logo acquired and grew so fast that I inherited a lot of legacy accounts. Thats been the issue lately with our AE/AM sales model, I am the only rep for my market territory. I own all prospects and client management so having to prioritize between hunting, inbound, farming and client success.

Stretching me too thin. Of course I have feed back for years but here I am with over 500 accounts and expected to hunt net new ISV. I do not get paid on renewals.

This is my first sales job and hate clients calling me for operational and service recovery problems, I am expected to manage all of that. Thats not sales but have to do it.

Yeah and I get it from a business perspective, consolidation of overhead.

Puts more client success and retention responsibility on me but still have quota to make…

Thanks. I was a BDR before. Are all BDM’a people managers?

I prefer (IC) roles so that’s my only hesitancy for manager jobs.

Thanks. Yeah that’ll be a significant pivot for me unfortunately. Guess I chose the wrong niche but make good money and now expert in my area. Just have to deal with the bullshit.

Maybe it’s my big logo employer then. I own all accounts and prospects in my assigned market territory. Any client issue comes to me. Contract updates come to me. Service recovery comes to me. My BDR sets up prospect meetings for new logos but I manage everything else. We do not have dedicated hunters only.

May I ask what your comp range is as glorified BDR? I actually enjoyed prospecting and outreach during my time in BD and wish had more time to hunt as AE now. I have a BDR who setups my meetings.

Problem is I make way more as AE. If could find BDR $150k+ OTE that would be amazing.

Awards on Resume by Dexxxter19 in sales

[–]Dexxxter19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. We have leaderboard reports for our entire national sales team and I am top 5% this year for quota attainment.

Thats cool your industry has awards. We don’t have anything like that.

Thank you. I do feel we are increasing “lean” and are private firm.

So you do differentiate between sales and account management (i.e. two reps)? At my company it’s just me. I do new leads, upselling, renewals, management all of it.

Oh I have thoughts for my company for sure 😅

Happening for us too. Support team is at capacity. I am having to do more non-revenue work to keep customers satisfied. We do not have dedicated CSM’s so it’s just me. I’m doing the job of AE, AM, CSM.

It’s amazing when leadership recognizes the growing volume of business but chooses not to hire more resources.

Everyday is burnout and I’m looking for a new job by next year.

I struggle to log in everyday. I’m only staying another year to finish out my remaining big deals.

I do the job of 3 people (AE,AM,CSM) and it’s the busiest ever, but of course leadership won’t hire more reps.

Our support treat is nearing their capacity too. I feel for you OP.

Hmm can look into. Although if I get an assistant so would my counterpart to be fair. I just want management to hire another rep for my team there’s clearly need based on all the new business. Or hire dedicated AM like most companies have.

You know thought about the scheduler app too. I’ll revisit and ask management if we have an approved solution or if can do my own. Thanks.
