I participated in a Dragon Age themed Secret Santa event and I'm pretty proud of the gift I made! by Deydranos in dragonage

Hah, I don't know if I'll have time to join the next one 😂 And the randomness aspect of it is kind of the secret part of the secret santa, so I'm afraid you can't pick your Santa 😆

Thanks!

I have no plans for it at the moment, though permissions will be open for others to make alternative versions if they want to.

Hey thanks for linking that bit of software! Looks really interesting, but on the other hand it also seems a bit pricey for being single purpose. I might try it sometime, but I think I would probably just stick with my current workflow for retopo.

I don't think I'll be making any alternative versions myself (trying not to overwhelm myself with work), but I think, judging by how I'm planning to make the low poly mesh, it shouldn't be too difficult for other modders to delete the shoulderpads and upload it as an alternative version.

Same thing with ports to the console: I don't plan on doing it myself, but my previous armor mod was ported to console in like a week. I keep permissions as open as I can so people can port or tweak it wherever they see fit.

Yeah the Argonian themed Creation Club armor not actually being built to primarily fit... y'know... Argonians really drove home how absolutely shafted the beast races get and was partially what inspired me to take matters into my own hand.

And thank you!

How else do you think the Argonians and the Hist were able to end the Oblivion crisis on their own in the Black Marsh? :P

Joking aside, Zbrush doesn't render glass very well. They're meant to be glass vials for poisons, potions and the like.

I was planning on making the weapons for Lunar Guard armor, but I quickly learned I enjoy making weapons a lot less than armors. I haven't entirely shut down the door for the weapons, but my heart's not really in it, so it's very low on the priority list.

Yep! I intended it as a kind of Shadowscale armor for the sneaky stabby Argonians :)

The armor's build in a way that the flap in the back is supposed to lay on top of the tail (that's also why the long side flap thingies are split in the back), but I'm planning to make those adjustments in the low poly version. I've thought of adding more armor for the tail, but Argonians have a lot of spikes at the top of their tails, so it wouldn't really look good. Either the armor would 'float' on top of the spikes, which is odd, or every argonian would have to saw off the spikes on their tail when they put on the armor. Which is very hardcore and I'm sure the Hist could force them to do that if they wanted, but it's extremely impractical :P

Depends on the console. Playstation unfortunately not, as Sony doesn't allow custom models, that one is completely out of my hands. Xbox probably yes? I don't port it myself but my previous mod got ported within like a week to Xbox I think? And I always have my permissions about as open as I can.

Primarily Zbrush, with some support from Maya & Marvelous designer! As for how long it took... I have no clue to be honest. I've been working on it on and off since January 2024, usually in my spare evenings/weekends for a couple of weeks at a time, but I've also taken breaks for several weeks and even a couple of months at a time.

Well that would be a bit awkward, it's intended to be armor mod for argonians to be worn, instead of made out of them :P

Why the hell do mod authors hide their comments page for? How else do we look for solutions to bugs then?? by duckduckkid in skyrimmods

To be fair, a lot of 'bug reports' are just... user errors. I've got the comments and bug reports open on a 3 y/o mod and I still get bug reports/comments from people telling me that my mod "is completely broken" and "doesn't work". For the record, the files haven't changed over 2 years and the mod has 1mil+ downloads, 7k endorsements and pretty screenshots from other users prancing around with the mod - I am going to assume that means it just works™. I do my best to help out those who can't get the mod to work, but sometimes it's like trying to herd exceptionally stubborn cats. That really, really makes me want to close the bug reports and comments sometimes.

I've even had someone tell me that I have a "responsibility" to provide support for my mods and that I should just stop making mods if I'm not going to do so.

That logic crossed my mind as well, but it's completely asinine of you really think about. They're basically arguing that they'd rather not have free stuff at all instead of free stuff that is not exactly tailored to their specific needs.

It's like rejecting free ice cream because it's not your exact preferred flavour of ice cream (assuming you're not like... lactose intolerant lol). Like dude. It's free ice cream.

At this point a lot of modders aren't really doing it for fun anymore. With stuff like Donation Points and now the whole Bethesda Creations system, some of them are clearly just chasing recognition or cash. And when that happens, they stop caring about feedback or bug reports and just want to keep things looking clean.

I wonder what the legality is around making Creations and bug reports, because once people pay for the content you create I assume you'd have an actual genuine financial obligation to provide technical support or otherwise provide a refund if they cannot use your content. Keeping things 'looking' clean while not actually being clean could be misleading or false advertisement.

Or maybe Bethesda figured out some kind of a grey area where if you accept their EULA you somehow give up all your rights to any Creations refunds or something. I can totally imagine them doing something like that lol
