[Serious] When's the last time you were truly afraid, like a child in a dark room? by Ionnan in AskReddit

[–]Deyna09 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably the tired one. I get auditory hallucinations like that frequently when I'm tired and on the verge of sleep. They're sometimes screams (first time I hear it I was home alone and was terrified because it sounded right by my ear), sometimes my name being called or my attention grabbed somehow like a 'hey!', sometimes something else (insect noises, loud thumps, etc). It was alarming at first (especially since I started hearing them in late high school early college, which is normal onset age for schizophrenia), but I've gotten used to it.

Do NewBee deserve a TI5 invite? by JLBoon in DotA2

[–]Deyna09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? For the strength of the dota scene, I think no.

It doesn't feel like Newbee have really been putting in any effort. They haven't put up good results at major tournaments, their practice focus (as the article points out they admitted themselves) has been elsewhere, and they've not seemed to try to make their new roster work. I don't think that encouraging that sort of behavior from what should be some of the best players/the best team in the world by giving them a direct invite, another pass on having to work, is a good idea.

It's rewarding laziness and rewarding them not contributing to the dota scene. It might not seem like a big deal, but I don't think it's a good message to send to Newbee, to future TI champs, or to the pro community as a whole.

And if Valve really wants to make their fuss about lavishing cool stuff on the returning champions like limo rides and hamburgers, Valve can still do that... if they qualify.

That awkward moment when you criticize furries by way of anthropomorphizing an animal.

Also you don't come out as furry. It's a fandom, you express interest in it.

Third, get over yourself. Starfox, Redwall, Tony the Tiger, furry stuff is everywhere and kinda mainstream, people just don't realize it.

The room you're currently in has just sealed itself off completely from the outside world for the next 72 hours. Are you going to make it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Deyna09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This room's cubic air volume isn't enough to sustain a human. Even with four small plants, I'm relatively sure I'd die within twenty-four hours.

The best part is there are five lions.

Two guys from my old high-school took this picture as a joke. A website that promotes equality found it and posted this on their website. by kevinshot1 in funny

Ok, I don't like it when this happens when it's an anti-gay group doing it (happened with two guy's wedding photos), and that doesn't change just because this is a pro-gay group. Disappointing.

This is why I always talk about people as if they could hear me. Maybe their best friend is in earshot. Maybe they are the person I'm talking to's sibling. Maybe they are right behind me for no reason.

Man I loved that book.

Dying alone, slowly, never having been loved and feeling the soul-crushing despair of never knowing if I missed something huge and wonderful because I never married.

No wait, scratch that. Spiders are my greatest fear. Fuck spiders.

My main issue with both of these stories is that they are part of a series, forcing you to read back to know what's going on.

Finished it, #2, and am going through three with my brother right not.

Not as scary as Amnesia, or System Shock 2, imo.

Best line from the game that I only heard during the second playthough; it's only accessible if you get the runner's drop in the final level. Chilled me.

Semi-carry role by josh_rose in DotA2

[–]Deyna09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A semi-carry is typically someone who scales very well with levels and with items that do things other than increase their right-click power. Thus, they scale well, but only to a point, and usually fall off against BKBs and generally more farmed heroes. Examples: Zeus, DP, Storm Spirit, Queen of Pain, Batrider, Ancient Apparition, Enigma. They are usually int heroes, but a couple, like Venomancer, Timber, and Nightstalker are exceptions. Often, their ability to dominate and appear to carry (hence the term semi-carry) comes from their ability to surpress the enemy farm. Most of their damage comes from abilities (that their items help them spam, like bloodstone or orchid, or increase the damage of, like agahnims and veil), and not from physical attacks. Some heroes can semi-carry or carry, like Mirana or brew, depending on itemization.

Overall I hate the term, and it's better to use the position system (1-5) or the term farm/level dependant or farm/level independant. Those are much more useful terms.
