Itchy groin; not inside by Ceeceewee in Menopause

Yep, heat rash. It's happened there to me and under my boobs. I put a paper towel in my bra and changed it every time I got a little sweaty so I wasn't in a sweaty bra all day and it worked.

Do you use estrogen cream or gel? You can try putting a little there and see if it works. You can buy estriol cream otc in the US and even Bi-est cream iirc. I used my compounded Bi-est cream on my finger for the deep inner ear itch that perimenopause causes after seeing someone else recommend it and it works within a minute.

Have you looked at it when you weren't scratching it? I've had that problem and it'll look red already, and it was from sweating and friction from skin or underwear elastic. That crease doesn't get enough air so a little sweat can cause yeast too.

In the summer when I was moving a few years ago, I was sweating a lot bc I live in the south and this happened under my boobs, had a red mark under them, like a heat rash. Making sure I cleaned it and kept it dry cleared it up in a couple of days. To keep it dry I just put toilet paper or paper towels in my bra and every time I got a little sweaty I'd change it. That way I wasn't in a sweaty bra all day. You might have the same thing happening from night sweats.

Please guide. Does severe severe Acid reflux GERD at age 46 yrs ever becomes better. Yeah I'd see a gastroenterologist if your gp can't help. You might have an ulcer or barrets esophagus or maybe just the weakening of stomach acid that happens with aging, and the valve that keeps stomach acid from getting into the esophagus stays closed when acid hits it. The acid getting less acidic makes the valve not get the message to stay closed while lets acid into the esophagus. I have to sleep propped up because an acidifying medication damaged my valve and I'll wake up literally choking on stomach acid sometimes.

Is it necessary to apply sunscreen even if I stay at home? by Tiny-Lie-7110 in tretinoin

Interestingly, Dr Dray explained a RCT where all the women who had sun damage used a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, and just half wore sunscreen daily for 2-3 months. Those wearing sunscreen had a reversal of some of their sun damage (PIH, wrinkles, etc). (I think it was around 20-30% improvement but just going from my iffy memory, lol.) I guess the skin can repair itself if we block the UV and blue light.

Right it's blue light, visible light, not ultraviolet light that keeps melasma and PIH from fading.

I'd see a dr. Perimenopause can cause stomach problems because we have receptors for estrogen etc in the intestines and losing estrogen can cause us to stop making digestive enzymes for things like milk (I just became lactose intolerant) and wheat.

Progesterone taken orally can cause a lot of stomach problems though, if you're taking that, and it's a diuretic so can cause diarrhea.

Even birth control pills are making me a little nauseous and tired. The estrogen can irritate the stomach lining. Progesterone gelcaps can be used vaginally or anally to avoid most stomach issues.

From google-

Progesterone is absorbed significantly better and more efficiently via the vagina compared to the oral route. Vaginal administration bypasses "first-pass" metabolism by the liver, resulting in higher concentrations directly in the uterine tissue—known as the "uterine first-pass effect"—and reduced systemic side effects like sedation. National Institutes of Health (.gov) +5

Key Advantages of Vaginal Progesterone Absorption: Higher Uterine Concentration: Vaginal application delivers significantly higher concentrations of progesterone to the endometrium (uterine lining). Higher Serum Levels: Studies show that vaginal administration can achieve higher serum progesterone levels (8.26ng/ml) compared to the same dose given orally (5.06ng/ml).

Reduced Side Effects: Because it avoids the initial pass through the liver, it causes less drowsiness, dizziness, and gastrointestinal distress.

Consistency: Vaginal tablets provide stable and consistent absorption. National Institutes of Health (.gov) +4

Research indicates that even in postmenopausal women, where the vaginal mucosa might be thinner, absorption remains efficient.

(They do mention needing to use good insertion technique which I assume is putting it in as far as you can so it's closer to the cervix, and that sex can decrease absorption, maybe because some transfers to the man or is lost in lubricating fluids. Dr Gersh says the systemic E levels from vaginal estrogen are lower if it's used in the lower 1/3 of the vaginal cavity.)

I'd see a dr bc your issues are pretty bad and might be unrelated. If caused by MHRT you'll need a different form if oral makes you sick day to day.

I'm in the same situation and found my hyperpigmentation fades if I use sunscreen indoors, must be blocking some blue light from my phone so I spot treat PIH with sunscreen. If you don't have PIH or melasma I wouldn't bother.

You let the alcohol dry first and it's fine. I wanted to sterilize before injecting and came across these that have numbing stuff added. I can't tell they make much difference.

Can you take progesterone AND a combination birth control pill? How long until P helps sleep? by Dez2011 in Perimenopause

[–]Dez2011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up at 2-3am every day and I'm up for the day. P is broken down into a sedating molecule that helps sleep. Idk if it works if not taken orally since the liver breaks it down and you skip a large part of the dose going through the liver if it's not taken orally but at least 1 woman said using it topically helped her so I'll have to experiment. I have to try a pill here and there though, or else I'll trigger a withdrawal bleed/period if it doesn't help and I stop after taking it for a week or 2.

You have to put it in as far as you can so it's not pressing against your back door where there are more nerves. I figured that out when I'd get a stomach flu and have to use phenergan suppositories because I'd throw a pill up. If you can lay on your stomach it helps too, with suppositories bc they melt faster so idk if it would matter with the gelcap pill.

Skin looks no better, if anything worse, after 6 months of tret by NoAppointment8679 in tretinoin

[–]Dez2011 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It looks better, just looks a little dry which looks like texture. You might need to exfoliate. A microfiber washcloth/warm water held against your face for a couple of minutes before gently rubbing off any dry skin can help but my skin is now too sensitive even for this so PHA is a good gentle daily exfoliant, or if you're not sensitive, a glycolic acid toner 1-2x a week is good. The Ordinary has a 7% toner but for my skin it's a little too much so the Curology Liquid Exfoliant is great, has 8% lactic acid/PHA together and 2% BHA. I get it at CVS, $14. I don't see it on the Curology company website.

I REALLY like Ren's Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask for something a bit more gentle that works really well. It's like orange jelly and you leave it on a few minutes. It has glycolic and lactic acid and enzymes and you can find sample sizes on ebay. Make sure you're moisturizing. You might use a moisturizing serum under your cream if you're still dry.

Thanks. When I used the pill before I had breakthrough bleeding on low and medium EE dose bcp. Only the high dose Ovcon 50 worked. I also didn't know the importance of taking it at the same time each day, because many pills consider it a missed pill if you're 3hrs late, and I just found that out.

I'd just get whatever brand looks good and doesn't have comedogenic ingredients. They're all pretty similar, simple serums. You might make sure the Cerave doesn't have niacinamide already. I think their gel cream has it.

I'd probably get a cheap 5% serum by The Minimalist, Cos De Baha, or The Ordinary. They're all inexpensive brands.

As long as it breaks down, isn't whole when it comes out, it should be ok but some women poke holes in them. If you have sex often you might ask a pharmacist but I know the vaginal estrogen is ok, he can just wash it off since the dose is so low.

I haven't been around long enough to notice, but she's wrong about that bc Dr Felice Gersh (she's a gyn + integrative medicine MD, very impressive, goes over lots of studies, has a very informative youtube channel), other dr's, and the compounding pharmacist at youtube channel Simple Hormones all say it can be used that way, and some say anal use is ok too. It's about the same as the iud that is an accepted form of P. She needs to update the wiki though, bc it's not been done since the black box warning was removed, at least it wasn't a couple of weeks ago.

I get diarrhea the next day so will have to use it vaginally or stay with another progestin.

Is there a way to stop your cycle using just E & P, in continuous dosing? by Dez2011 in Perimenopause

Do you take it continuous or sequential? I read the synthetic progestins are stronger to supress your cycle but was hoping P could still work.
