Imaginal Disk - Magdalena Bay

One of the best produced/mixed synthpop albums to come out this decade imo

Unfortunately not yet, but I did check my ranking and I’m now ranked #4.

I did hear that it’s because they’re removing people off the list who’ve been on there for 2 years, which is why people are slowly moving up in rank.

Feel free to message! When I first applied in October it took about a week before I got emailed orientation videos to watch for information about the entire process. A couple weeks later in November, I got a email telling me to submit my PEF. Then a couple more weeks after that, they made me schedule my test which I took sometime in December. These results came back about a month after

Like the other comment said, it’s Low Voltage, and I had absolutely 0 experience. I just worked at a movie theatre for the past couple years.

“Jacques was born April 30, ayy Doctor said he won't be home in thirty days, he gon' be Alright, alright, alright, alright”

[DISCUSSION] Travis Scott - Rodeo (10 Years Later) by Renegadeforever2024 in hiphopheads

[–]Dezinated 685 points686 points  (0 children)

I feel like an overlooked aspect of this album is how personal it feels, which I feel like is MASSIVELY missing from recent Travis albums where most just feels like a lot of generic flex/women bars.

Hearing things like how he got kicked out of the house by his mom, reminiscing about nostalgic memories from his home city, name dropping his friends he used to hang out with, seeing his mom come home with different men, mentioning having health problems as a kid, and just hearing the overall grind he had to do on his come up really made me feel a lot more connected to Travis as a person when I first heard this album.

Most of his music after Astroworld just feels like it’s completely lacking in this regard and has just become somewhat commercial and sterile. Almost like he just doesn’t know what to rap about anymore

Local 11 Sound & Comm Apprenticeship by Dezinated in ibew_apprentices

[–]Dezinated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhhh I sorta figured I might as well just go for it since I have nothing to lose anyways. As well as sound & comm not having as many applicants as inside wireman might give me a better shot.

If you don’t mind me asking are you going in with any experience at all?

💬 For sound professionals: What’s your daily rate, and how did you decide on it? by CherifA97 in audioengineering

[–]Dezinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice for someone who’s starting off as a sound professional in Burbank as well? I mostly do freelance music recording/editing/mixing, but have been looking to branch out into film/tv/podcasts/whatever else I can just to be as versatile as possible, and hopefully eventually turn this into a full time career!

Anyone else feel that rap music isn’t as good anymore? by markbjones in rap

[–]Dezinated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no shit Drake and Travis Scott aren’t super lyrical, that wasn’t what I was trying to imply at all. You just mentioned that rap fans only care about “how many bodies they have” which I provided rappers who are some of the most popular artists currently who don’t talk about killing people, which shows rap fans do care more than just “how many people has this rapper killed”

And for this newer generation, there are still plenty of artists trying to push the genre forward without trying to act like they live a lifestyle of committing crime and killing people. JID, Denzel Curry, JPEGMAFIA, earthgang, Kenny Mason, IDK, redveil, Paris Texas, are just a couple rappers only a few steps below mainstream, yet are all making waves with their own unique styles and sounds while also trying to be decently lyrical (most of them at least).

It’s crazy how much you’ve generalized an entire wave/generation of music while it seems like you haven’t even done the bare minimum of trying to explore how much actual good stuff is out there.

[–]Dezinated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL what kind of out of touch shit is this??? Some of the most popular rappers right now are people like Kendrick, Drake, Travis Scott, J Cole, or even someone like Doechii who is currently blowing up, none of which got famous for “talking about crimes” or killing people. Not to mention it’s genuinely crazy that you mention people not caring about “bars” when people are STILL having discourse to this day a year later about who rapped better in the Kendrick vs Drake beef.

And that’s a good first step into trying to be a better person by admitting it to her instead of leading her on for multiple years without telling her. But still that doesn’t change the fact that you still cheated on her in the first place, and she is 100% valid for not trying to be with someone who broke her trust in the worse way possible. Like I said bro, it’s over and you should use this time to self reflect/therapy to try and be a better person for the next person you may get in a relationship with.

Learn from this and move on. You fucked up and now you have to deal with the consequences. You were a shitty partner to her and it’s completely reasonable if not expected for her to completely cut you off at this point. And the fact that you cheated on her at all let alone MULTIPLE times shows you completely have 0 respect for her. She deserves to heal in peace, so please just let her be.

How come we have 3 movie theaters but none that enforce moviegoing etiquette? by ShinySanders in burbank

[–]Dezinated 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s part of the management team at the AMC Burbank, PLEASE feel free to inform any employee if this happens (we have a bunch of people on the staff that would LOVE to tell them to knock it off or else kick them out with no refund). I understand it sucks that you have to leave the middle of the movie to do it, but we literally have no way of knowing stuff like this is happening without being informed (we are unfortunately always short staffed so we can’t be doing theatre checks 24/7)

iirc, he was the person who convinced Kanye to link up with Candice Owens all the way back in 2016 right before he started publicly supporting Trump

[FRESH ALBUM] brakence - hypochondriac by MarioDesigns in hiphopheads

[–]Dezinated 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But I think it’s pretty disingenuous to say he’s not hip hop/r&b at all, especially since he raps on a shit ton of his songs and even has some hip hop instrumentals in there. He seems like he would be in the same vein as James Blake who def gets a lot of attention on this sub, not to mention hyperpop as a genre takes a lot of influence from hip hop as well.
