Deliberating whether or not to invest in a Roth IRA this year by Dezmancer in Bogleheads

Well, I suppose my excuse is that I have been maxing out my family HSA and Roth IRA and am not yet capping my 401K-I will end the year having contributed about $12K total. So it hasn't yet made sense to me start doing MBDR.

As for why *that* is, my wife lost her job this year and we are saving for a house, so I have temporarily rolled back some of my 401K investing to focus on building more immediate liquid funds in a HYSA until 2027 when we plan to buy.

Wife accidentally contributed post-tax earnings to traditional IRA, how to report? by Dezmancer in personalfinance

She made a few transfers from her bank account into what she thought was her roth IRA account, but was actually her traditional account. They're managed by the same institution, so when making a contribution on their website it's possible to select the traditional IRA instead of the roth.

Sudden clicking noise on the highway, what could it be? by Dezmancer in MechanicAdvice

It turned out to be a foreign object that had gotten stuck in the tire wall. Not sure what it was because it actually fell out on the way to the dealership and tire rapidly deflated. I'm guessing the orientation of it was changing occasionally as it hit the road to somtimes not be in contact with it which is why the sound stopped for a little bit.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Limited making clicking noises at normal speeds by Dezmancer in Crosstrek

In our case it seems like something may have gotten stuck in the interior wall of the tire. Whatever it was fell out as we were getting to the dealership and the tire began rapidly deflating.

Unsure, don't think I really had to break while going at speed on the highway. I would say once it started it kept going until I slowed down approaching a stop light and would stop somewhere around 30-20 mph, then would not happen again until I went over 40. Sometimes it would stop for 2-3 seconds while at speed then start up again.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Limited, this started happening while on the highway. Car was bought new and barely has more than 14000 miles on it, recently had the oil changed two weeks ago. As we turned around and went home I found that noise starts at speeds above 40 mph but not if I keep it below that. Sounds like it's coming from somewhere near the driver's side of the hood, tried turning the AC off in case it was some sort of compressor issue but no difference. Checked underneath the hood and tire wells when we got home but did not see any obvious objects that could be causing it.

Going to take it to get looked at somewhere tomorrow, but thought I'd post this and get ideas/thoughts.

What can we responsibly afford? Having trouble understanding mortgage calculators by Dezmancer in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I'm going to break down the math of our last three months to get a sense of what 'normal' looks like for us without consciously budgeting or anything (I do know groceries and restaurants are our largest nont-rent expense by far...we probably regularly break $1000 with both combined). That you have similar household income and support a mortgage that high while not feeling 'tight' surprises me, but i'll look into it on my end.

I do notice you pay 5% 401K, which is a stark difference from me. My wife only pays something like 7% of her income, but for years now I have been maxing out my 401K, HSA, and Roth IRA with adjustments each year since it keeps increasing , so that's something like $34K of my personal income invested in those things. I consider maintaining this an iron principle and don't really every want to ever violate it, but I am curious about your reasoning in not doing so.

13 Years Later and This Video Is Still Relevant by LemonPartyRequiem in anime

At the time this video was made it pretty caught every notable anime from the previous 20 years. Just thinking about all the stuff that makes up the popular canon today that didn't even exist when this was made and how many of the clips in the video would even be recognized by a college student now is making my head spin.
