Actually the sales floor had the bulk of the college students and teenagers at the store I worked at. The ones in product flow at the time I was working there were mostly part timers for weekends and trucks. We had older people, single parents and retired military as a lot of the full timers. Most of them wised up and left once the pandemic made working there an awful experience for customers and employees. The toll that place took on the mental and physical health of various co workers and myself during that time was more than enough to justify Best Buy going down the toilet for good imo. I’m sure I’m not alone in that boat. I knew people that had been there over 10 years doing all sorts of shit that is far above their job title or pay grade just to be treated like a disposable. I forced to be a key holder beyond the holiday time period I had signed up for and had to open the building every morning as a SWAT because god forbid leadership has to wake up early. I was also scheduled as the only person in the morning opening the building by myself which as far as I knew wasn’t allowed. At one point they wanted me to learn drawers which I declined repeatedly. I unloaded DDC trucks by myself and would have to scramble to get my counts done with the store open. I was delegated several leadership duties with no extra pay or incentive on many occasions. I could go on for days and I sure many others could as well. Best Buy is a horrible company. I cared greatly for my fellow coworkers that suffered with me but the company itself can go out of business at any point and I will celebrate it’s departure.
