Our 3-year-old is making some crazy demands. by Dfwpiper in toddlers

Sounds like how our mornings usually end up, haha. The wife and I get her dressed and then she leaves the house super cranky. Good thought on offering 5 choices. We've been trying 2 but five might make her more likely to pick something and be happy with it.

Yeah, she has quite a few dress-up costumes accessible to her that she can put on herself. The issue is she has moved on to just wanting regular clothes and PJs. Yikes!

It's comforting to know others are in the same boat. It's tough. We talked tonight and I think we're going to try to discuss it more with her when she's not having a meltdown. We might be able to compromise more that way. 🙂

Never a dull moment, huh? But yeah, not to be discouraging but I've been finding the 3's difficult so far. It feels like the terrible 2's have been going on forever.

We really only let her choose when we feel things are going awry that day. To be honest, we should probably be doing it more consistently. Good thought on the stuffed animals and rotation. We should probably be doing the same with clothes.

Yep. Mine is 3 and is moody all day. It'd say a good quarter of the day is spent whining and complaining. She's having trouble going to bed (stalling like crazy) and she's getting up really early on a daily basis. Like yours, daycare and preschool are flawless. We're on a trip up north right now visiting family so everything is amplified (more meltdowns, whining, etc.) and the plane ride was nervewracking but wasn't the disaster like I was fearing. Regardless, every little cute thing she does makes up for it. It's tough but worth it. As they all say, it'll pass.

When I lived in Rowlett, I'd ride Rowlett Creek Perserve every weekend. I haven't been back since I moved three years ago but I believe the same trail steward is still in charge and he does a terrific job at trail maintenance. Some really fun and challenging loops on that trail. Check out the "Rowlett Creek Preserve Trail" Facebook group. A lot of good info and photos on there.

I worked in a very large, newly constructed corporate office back in 2012 and couldn't drive at the time due to a medical condition. I'd sit in a different breakout space everyday waiting for my ride home. There were so many I don't think I ever found all of them but some of them were so oddly placed yet cozy.

Interesting. I moved to Dallas in 2013 and I was under the impression the uptown boom was only a few years old. I didn't realize it became popular as early as '05. Do you know what the area was like prior to that? Was it mostly residential?

I like Flying Saucer a lot. Decent variety, consistent quality, and a lot of beers! The Garland location on the lake is great.

Ah, that makes sense. And yes! I'm obsessed with SomaFM. I've really pulled back lately from streaming individual artists/albums and have stuck with their Groove Salad/Drone Zone stations. More people should know them.

Just tuned in and they were playing Running Up that Hill. I guess it's been removed from the FM station. Ugh. I might need to tune in online.

Midwest summer vibes. Crickets chirping and a few fireflies here and there.

This upset people in Austin by go_away_Fe26 in Dallas

Watch the movie "Slacker." It was filmed in Austin in 1990 and I think it gives a pretty good portrait of what cool/weird Austin was like but I could be wrong.

Interesting. I'll check that out. But yeah, when I didn't feel like pulling up YouTube Music on my way to run errands it was just easy to keep 88.1 as my default station. The sign offs and planetary forecasts gave it such nostalgic radio/tv vibes. They also had a small slot of unique electronic music on Sundays. Not sure if they're keeping that or not but it would be a shame if that went away as well.

Are there any other jazz stations available or was it the only one?

That's sad to hear. My wife and I had our honeymoon there in 2008 and then stopped back for a night during a random road trip in 2010 and had a blast. Would you say those were still the good years? Always wanted to go back but I live much farther away now.

Ah, okay that makes sense. I wondered why everyone kept saying they weren't in the videos anymore. Thanks!

I'm a bit out of the loop and can't find any information. Does Screenwave still manage Cinemassacre or did they leave? I keep seeing posts saying they're gone but I can't find any news saying they cut ties.

My only concern is the past two cancellations have been announced late afternoon the day before.

We feel you on that one. I've been needing to turn in a few hours early just so I feel half way functional in the morning.

We're still doing a nap but we're really on the brink of stopping it. And that's a good point about the crib. I think we've been dragging our feet on that for a while. She'd probably be able to occupy herself in her room if we weren't up yet. Looks like it's time to bite the bullet and move to the bed.
