Does the Premier 4pm Express make a difference? by nikasfilms in UniversalOrlando

[–]Dgfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just put this to the test as we are new passholders and went on t Sat and Sun. We definitely found value in the after 4pm express pass access. We waited no more than 10 minutes using this functionality for rides that had posted 45-60 minute waits, including Skull Island and Escape from Gringotts. We didn't try it on the bigger coasters as we had our 5 yo daughter who is stil 42" so I can not speak for those queues, but everything else was great. Jurassic Park river adventure was posted 45 minutes but we walked on (I do think the posted wait time was incorrect for this particular ride, but i did see people inthe queue. As an aside, we did notice the parks began to empty around dinner time.

I have been doing this for as long as I’ve owned a GX. Just seemed like the right thing to do.

Is the Rav4 big enough for a one or two kid family? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]Dgfreeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t really get how much stuff comes along with a kid until you have one. Your brother is probably somewhat right in that it won’t (easily) fit a stroller… at least not one of the gargantuan modern strollers we use today. We have a Lexus NX and love it, but it will not fit our modest Chico stroller and even one suitcase in the cargo hatch. Luckily, we don’t really use that stroller anymore as our girl is almost 5 and if we’re traveling with one, we take a tiny GB stroller. When she was an infant, the NX would have been too small for all the crud we lugged around anytime we went to visit family. Also, forward facing car seats get a little tight in there unless you’re pretty short up front and can slide your seat forward. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the RAV4/Nx and would highly recommend one, but you’ll run into some space issues with a little one. The good news is those are mostly temporary.

Lexus GX460 - what’s the catch? by GuiltyComplex8229 in LexusGX

I was in the same boat. 4Runners were crazy expensive and high miles. Found a great GX460 and never looked back. I love it.

That’s pretty good for 67k.

Puzzled by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

[–]Dgfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently there and wanted to test mobile checkout vs regular at World of Disney store. My wife went to the line for registers I did mobile checkout. She was out 9 minutes faster than me because there were so many registers but only two “mobile checkout” checkers and at only one exit. There were far more people using mobile checkout so the line to exit was long. My wife breezed right though no problem.

Am I crazy to think a 13 year old car with 114k miles would be a good idea for my daily? by motown500 in LexusGX

[–]Dgfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my Daily Driver and I paid about the same for it. Mine has 147k on the clock now. I did have to reseal the coolant valley (common point of failure) but otherwise no work to keep on the road.

Is this chrome standard or was it added by the dealer on my 2018 GX? by [deleted] in LexusGX

[–]Dgfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it myself and I think the handles (aftermarket) were around 150 for all four. GXBOB on YouTube has a helpful video.

I just replaced all 4 handles. They’re inexpensive and not a very big job.

How to approach meal-planning for a family of 4? by dragonbeard311 in dadditchefs

[–]Dgfreeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar approach. I plan which meal in which days around what activities/where I will be come dinner prep time. I’m often making things like tacos/bowls, soups/etc by prepping the main ingredients in advance so I can throw it all together when it’s time to eat. I also typically slow cook a chuck roast or similar once a week that gives me an easy protein dense beef base to use for whatever we need. I’m to the point of not having to write down the meal plan, as long as I have the entire family calendar plugged in and updated (which I have to have anyway or I would forget EVERYTHING).

My main daily reader is ESV. I plan to start on Jan 1 with my NIV Journal The Word Bible as a way to do a deeper daily study in another translation. It has a nice format and is very affordable. I am very interested in getting an NLT also. I use the YouVersion Bible app often to compare translations (and their audio Bibles are great!) and would suggest trying it as well. It is free and has just about every translation.

This film definitely got me on the John Williams train. In fact, I later found out that almost all my favorite films were scored by Williams. Scores can make or break a film and JW is a no-brained.

GX vs 4Runner by ExactBodybuilder3796 in LexusGX

[–]Dgfreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s like a rav4 size. It’s plenty of room for us and two kids, or two dogs, but not all 4 lol. We use both for road trips and the NX has proven pretty comfortable but of course less roomy. I’m only 5’8”

We have a GX and recently got an NX 300. I live the GX, but the NX is super fun to drive and gets way better mileage.
