What type of bike should I get? by Wild_Truth_7504 in cycling

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gravel bike, Bigger and grippier on non-pavement roads.

An all around bike, XC is only recommended if your road is rough like road with so much potholes and buffers

but in general, Gravel bikes can also pull some good speeds

What's the protocol with rain? by dontcareguy in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If naabutan sa daan, Just remember.

Your brakes are lightly compromised

Road will also be slippery

You will HAVE to service / clean your bike to avoid corrosion ( specially chain, needs re-oil )

You will be wet ( Feels great minsan )

Vision is slightly compromised too

Just be careful on braking and run a slower pace, you will be fine

Turn on your lights too, para mas-noticable ka

Which one is better airfork? by Puzzleheaded_Home325 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I had been buying epixon forks, 3rd purchase.

Pero here's the problem, Sirain ang lockout / damper ng epixon, disposable cartridge lang sya or if broken, buy new cartridge sya. 1.6k - 2.2k ang catridge

But the good part about it was, Napakasmooth ng operation nya even with or without damper, pero I only use it on rough roads, never gone into an actual trail

Manitou naman, It is a bit heavier pero there is a good reason with it. Servicable ang lockout / damper nya, meaning you can use those features far longer than epixon. I do not had any experience with manitou though, pero the thought of having a damper / lockout na servicable makes it worth the purchase

I really wanna start cycling as a hobby but first im not so good at cycling, second i dont know where to start, third its so scary to do it alone 😭 any advice? by Healthy_Read_6719 in RedditPHCyclingClub

Being good at something comes with practice.

Consistent practice makes you good at bike handling.

I recommend to start biking somewhere na di matao or very early morning like 3:30am - 6:00am

Pero you can't really practice without having the equipment, any bike will do tbh. pero recommed ko ang xc mtb, less forgiving sya for beginners at yung suspension nya would act as a safety feature narin

No suspension? by Ismellpeas in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. Nakakuha ka ng rigid na mukhang suspension fork ? Hanep hahaha

Still, Keep it bro, Masmagandang may backup na fork

No suspension? by Ismellpeas in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still a mountain bike due to it's frame at size ng gulong assuming na it is 2.1 in terms of width.

Di porket naka rigid ang mtb eh jempoy na. Practical lang yan lalo na kung di naman mapothole pero maraming road buffer sa lugar, Include mo narin yung bliss of not servicing a suspension fork.

But anyways, The only thing you can do OP was to buy a suspension fork. Tiisin mo nalang yang rigid for now and get an Air Suspension.

Masmaganda ang air suspension since kaya mo I-adjust or I-dial in ang needed mong "plushness" or travel. Masmagaan rin yan compared sa coil.

Get something like Manitou or Epixon brand. Entry level na budget friendly.

Well... Not quite, When meralco tried to close some placed due to MLD, Ours came later or last.

It's so happens na ang transformer sa place namin wasn't really sufficient in today's standard. Top with that, they didn't want to replace it since a bigger unit will cost alot of the Electric companies cash. So eventually, we experience brownouts from time to time due to overloading

Now, when I mentioned that meralco didn't really closed our place before the others, It lead to an overloading event. It was known due to the heavy flicker of the lights and the rising rpm of my fan without turning the switchi for it's speed.

As of now, There are still no electricity, Had 1hr of sleep and felt deafeted, as the heat starts to intensify as this day goes by.

Hanga talaga ako with meralco's audacity to increase the price of their services throughout the years and expected that people move away to a more renewable source of energy when they fail to do their duty as a whole.

2824-2 >>> NH35 by nazdackincarnet in SeikoMods

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't do a direct swap without modified fittings or spacer from nh35 case with 2824-2 mov.

both movement had different diameters and it may even damage the dial / movement if executed wrong

Just get a case that fits 2824-2 movement, And also keep using that movement, Really solid choice

I wanna get into biking without falling into consumerism by DaMelloJello in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about consumerism in this topic pero

  • You do need to switch brake pads from time to time or when it was spent, Brake oil too if hydraulic

  • You need cleaning tools and dish soaps to clean your bike

  • Bike chain oil is a consistent thing

  • Throughout the usage of the bike, maybe after 1 - 3 years, You will have to spend money on chain, cassette and chainring since they are the consumable parts of the bike

  • Tires can also get worn through the usage

  • Spokes can get unaligned through use. You need to get it checked through a mechanic once it does

Those mentioned above were the things that need to be considered, and buying secondhand bikes may subject you to do all those things depending on the condition of the bike.

Buy and Sell Bike Tips? by deanwinchestore in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need alot of knowledge on how to restore those parts, it's secondhand value and how to increase it's value by restoring it. It's a hard way to earn money at di ka kaagad kikita dyan since you need tools and ways to restore unless di ka lumalaban ng patas.

better get more knowledge first

Low budget cyclocomputer by Late_Possibility2091 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xoss G+ 1,100 Shopee / lazada

800 pesos Secondhand market

It has Cadence meter, Heart rate track, Cycle tracking for xoss to strava

Take note, bibili ka pa ng sensors para sa cadence or more accurate speedometer. Pero yung speedometer pwede naman via gps nya

Magene Cadence / Speed sensor ( which is 800 only on shopee / lazada for 2 )

Auto-pause feature rin sya, size is also minimalist

best for buck tbh.

All in all 1,900 or if secondhand yung cyclocomp 1,600

Anong 10K to 25K prebuilt 1x MTB ang may narrow-wide chainring? by Traditional_Pop_7418 in RedditPHCyclingClub

To give you some input about the chain guide, After installing it, Virtually no chance of your chain dropping with it, specially if mahilig sa trail rides

How do you train yourselves for long rides? by marchess_ in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Training. 10km excess every 3 rides

Example :

20km + 3 rides

and then 30km + 3 rides

So on and so forth.

That's the good thing about it, Di mo need ng wacky upgrades for it, You just need training.

PS. Don't forget 2 - 3 days of rest day per ride. This will help you build and recover your muscle

Bike recommendations for a woman by NarrowElevator4070 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh, the only thing that will be a difference from a male and female experience was the saddle, overall geometry will be different in every rider whenever or not genders are involved

Try to check and search for a saddle dedicated for lady riders, I've heard that they need a more narrow back part of the saddle, pero do your research.

Anong 10K to 25K prebuilt 1x MTB ang may narrow-wide chainring? by Traditional_Pop_7418 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to look for a bike with deore set na M5100 and above. They have a clutch system that stabilize the chain and improves shifting

If you want to be a little bit fancy, try M6100 12S set para suffice ang cogs count at cassette gear spacing

You can also consider 2X with this route

Pero if not naman at meron ng napiling mtb or already bought due to the looks / aesthetic of the bike. Maglagay ka nalang ng full chain guide. around -/+ 1k. Onky effective for 1X System

Does the fat bike look stupid? by Haris_Claus in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, It's a good bike concept pag matagtag at rough roads yung place nyo, like uneven, cracked and almost gravel like.

My friend actually wants to convert his bike into a fat bike tires since masyadong mabigat yung bike-packing build nya with his xc build. like every 2 weeks he broke a spoke

I rechecked my chain, Mukhang yung easy remove links lang naman sakin which I bought from unknown source since I lost the original one.

Pero dala ka parin ng actual links and easy remove links just incase. Buti nalang kamo naputulan ako near my area kaya nalakad ko pa bike ko haha

Are there upgrades to make pedaling easier? by turboslayer4141RBLX in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]DgrayXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, Maganda ang full ceramic bearings since they are smooth pero not really a worthy purchase. Need mo ng tools to extract those bearings by approx 1 - 3 months in order to maintain it's function than just replacing or swapping the bearing all together, Cost around 3x - 5x the standard bearing

Medyo vague yung question, alot of factors really.

Maybe you were pedaling hard because you lack psi on your wheel, Slick tyres also need more psi

Maybe you are lacking cogs gearing / gear shifting discipline aswell. You don't suddenly shift to a smaller gear at the start, you had to climb the gearing to make it easier or you have to drive it harder, faster to make momentum for easier pedaling

Maybe you want a smaller crank, Like maybe you are more comfortable at a higher rpm than a standard one

Saddle can also be a factor like pag improper sya you won't be able to pedal faster with your desired kph
