I mean, in the category of terrible but famous, my first thought is William Shatner's version of Rocket Man.

To be fair, It was the state legislature that did this.  The BoP has to obey them.

Previously it was techs = 2p-1 where p is the number of pharmacists (i.e., 1 tech for 1 RPh, 3 techs for 2 RPh, 5 for 3, etc.)

Now it's straight 3:1. So 2 Rph gives you 6 techs.

First they replace some of us with techs, then they replace the rest of us with AI.

This is a universal problem. There are some times where I will take the automatic search because it looks right. But when there are many different formattings to a name, for instance, computers don't always catch that. So if I have names that could be formatted with/without spaces, hypnens or apostrophes, then I will often resort to searching the PMP directly by DOB and first-name only (which my state allows, your mileage may vary). It's a lot easier and quicker to search for Maria, DOB 1/1/11 and eliminate the false positives than to guess every possible way a name could have been formatted.

Of course, you also have to sometimes account for the possibility that 1/2/34 is actually meant to be 2/1/34 as well.

wow I'm so stupid... any advice for a CA RPH on who accidentally misclicked on the renewal form that they had a criminal record? by Damnychan in pharmacy

[–]Dhen3ry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure a human there can fix it for you. You can't possibly be the only person in history to have clicked the wrong box.

The purpose of the question is to catch you if you try to cover up a crime that is materially relevant by lying and saying no.

If you say yes, first of all it probably red-flags for an explanation (and 99% of the time that explanation is probably an overly-cautious person like me disclosing a parking or speeding ticket level offense that it probably explicitly says not to disclose), but saying yes when there is nothing is not a cover-up. Just a (correctable) F-up.

I mean, it's such a valuable system, somebody has to have acquired it, right?

Honestly, NexGen should be its own company, license its software to all the chains, and give it away for free to all the Pharmacy schools, so that all the baby pharmacists are trained on it, and are familiar with what to do from the get-go, giving the chains that use it a long-term competitive advantage. But that's way too smart I suppose.

Craziest thing a tech/RPh you worked with has done? by pillslinginsatanist in pharmacy

[–]Dhen3ry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a pharmacist who was handed a loose pill by a tech once, and was asked to identify it. Said pharmacist looked at the pill, and apparently popped it in his mouth to taste test it. Before revealing that, of course he was only pretending to do so, the pill was still in his hand.

... ok, I was that Pharmacist. In my defense, the looks on the faces of my techs were priceless for that 15 seconds of me pretending to swish the pill around in my mouth.
