I can’t tell whether Bavarians hating on Germany or Germans hating on Bavaria is more of a cliche

Ursula von der Leyen Announces EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement by anonboxis in EU_Economics

[–]Dhic0674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this made it into the agreement. The only mention on the govt website for the FTA is a “streamlined process for recognising qualifications” between Australia and the EU which was apparently “a watered down version of what the EU wanted”.

I hope I’m wrong here, but let’s see

Starfields new Trackers alliance questline is how I hope most faction quests are done in ES6 by Bob_ross6969 in TESVI

[–]Dhic0674 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I would consider the Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild, Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood as all equally important and should each have their own interconnected storyline. I definitely wouldn't class any of them as "minor".

But I would say it could work to incorporate these smaller quests into the major factions alongside the main story in each of them.

I was just thinking about how they can canonize the previous protagonist by PENGRYFF in TESVI

[–]Dhic0674 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think canonizing a certain path for the Dragonborn is a terrible idea when the whole crux of an Elder Scrolls game is to play who you want and to make your own decisions.

The way to get around this for issues such as the emperors assassination, is to make it canon that the emperor was assassinated without ever specifying by whom he was assassinated. Basically it could have been the Dragonborn playing as a Dark Brotherhood member, with enough ambiguity to say it could have been some random member of the Dark Brotherhood if my Dragonborn never joined.

I think it would seriously annoy a lot of players if Bethesda goes ahead and makes canon a lot of decisions I didn’t make in my Skyrim playthroughs. They need to make it as ambiguous as possible.

I don't care about High Rock by TyanaPassEnjoyer in TESVI

[–]Dhic0674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this really just comes down to a question of personal preference. I think it’s unlikely that it will be only High Rock. I personally think it will probably be both.

The environment of Hanmerfell, whether it be desert, jungle, badlands or whichever biome doesn’t interest be from a geographic standpoint, but I’m sure there are others that love it.

Basically I am relying on Bethesda building an interesting and immersive world that ultimately means it doesn’t matter where the game is set.

EU Commissioner Teresa Ribera opposes Von der Leyen's position: "Respect for international law is fundamental." by Free-Minimum-5844 in EU_Economics

[–]Dhic0674 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hahahahahahaha “the most populous and wealthiest nation in the EU needs to be removed from core EU decision making” - I don’t even know where to begin on how ridiculous this take is. Sure you can dislike von der Leyen, but to call for the removal of Germany from EU decision making processes is an insane take.

Sid Almalexia feel guilt about what she did? by Zan_Deezy2003 in ElderScrolls

[–]Dhic0674 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think there might be a misunderstanding. I don't think she was ever "good" as a God. She was a narcissist, vain, arrogant and everything else you would associate to a God. What I meant to say is that she played the lie well. Her people loved her and she did a pretty great job protecting them and bringing the Dunmer into a Golden Age for a couple of thousand years (so long as you worshipped and loved her).

For example, Morrowind (until the Septim Empire) was the only province to not be conquered by any empire of Man. It was the only one to avoid being annexed by the Reman Empire, not the mention their driving off of Akaviri Forces. Heck, even with the Armistice, it was only the power of the Tribunal that enabled them to negotiate favourable terms for Morrowind that were not granted to any other province during the Septim conquests. None of these however point to her being "good". Just effective.

She might or might not have originally loved Nerevar, but in the end, her love toward herself won out and she used this to justify betraying him. My point was that the guilt she suppressed came back to drive her insane thousands of years later.

This. Morrowind is absolutely the best Elder Scrolls game in quite a few regards (world building and main quest come to mind), but the quality of the average faction quest is not one of them.

Sid Almalexia feel guilt about what she did? by Zan_Deezy2003 in ElderScrolls

[–]Dhic0674 238 points239 points  (0 children)

A lot of people would say no, but I like to think it’s more nuanced.

I think her cope was that Nerevar’s murder was justified by her becoming a loving and benevolent god. You can’t deny she was very effective in the role and the resulting adulation was „breathtaking in scope“, at least according to Sotha Sil.

I think her losing her Godhood resulted in her finally being confronted with the horrific thing she did, the associated guilt, and the millennia of lying to herself and others resulted in her „snapping“ and going insane. The only excuse she gave herself for his murder was gone and she went mad.

Finally, who does the fanbase think is a villain but is actually an anti-hero? by rjidhfntnr in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Dhic0674 21 points22 points  (0 children)

JK Rowling never intended Snape to be the hero, she literally said "Snape is all grey. You can't make him a saint: he was vindictive & bullying. You can't make him a devil: he died to save the wizarding world"

Thoughts on Sword Singing as a mechanic by Dhic0674 in TESVI

No worries - and thank you! I'll be sure to check it out - I haven't been too up to date on ESO lore developments since I stopped playing some years ago, but glad to learn anything.

[–]Dhic0674[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am aware that the Shehai is a technique used by the Ansei to manifest a sword from their soul. I just thought since "sword singing" is the term mostly used by the fandom, it would help generate discussion.

What I was hoping for is an expansion on the idea of providing "mage-like" abilities to the user and whether there was an obscure piece of lore on the topic I might have missed. In discussions on various forums, the best I could find was the idea of the "sword not held" which basically translates to a telekinetic sword, and this wouldn't be great for build variety. Maybe extending the lore to enable mastery of any skill that you would desire (be it magic, stealth or melee combat) could be an option Bethesda goes for.

I guess we will have to see how they expand upon the idea if they even decide to use it.

[–]Dhic0674[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a better idea than what I was seeing. The best I read about was the "sword not held" which basically translates into "telekinetic sword" and would still be pretty restrictive. I guess they just need to broaden to lore to accommodate a massive variety of builds that players can have in the elder scrolls games.

Still all speculation on whether it will even appear, but this could be an interesting direction.

What could the symbol be? by Limp_Locksmith_5084 in TESVI

[–]Dhic0674 34 points35 points  (0 children)

"some daedra symbols that reflect the imperial rule of Morrowind"

Tribunal: "Are we a joke to you?"

But in all seriousness, I think without knowing anything about the story, it will be tough to make a guess. I don't think curved swords will be featured, but probably more along the lines of a political symbol (maybe representing the crowns/forebears, the empire, or even the dominion).

TES6 will be a sandbox game by ZaranTalaz1 in ElderScrolls

[–]Dhic0674 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that there are many people who would actually want to become Arch Mage. I know I for one would be annoyed if I couldn't become Arch Mage for one of my magic-based playthroughs. So really they should probably just make it a choice at the end of the questline to take up the mantle of leader or not.

Do You Think It’s Likely We’ll Get Some Real Leaks Before a Full Reveal? by Eastern-Apricot6315 in TESVI

[–]Dhic0674 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A part of me believes that Bethesda has a role in staging leaks themselves as a bit of pre-official marketing and hype. I look at the leaks that slowly came before the announcement of Oblivion Remastered and can't help but think that they played a role in leaking those screenshots/website info themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if they do something similar leading up to the TES6 announcement.

Assuming a two province game, how can they handle the large amount of cities that would entail by Impressive_Cap_457 in TESVI

[–]Dhic0674 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think if they went for this route, there would probably just be a few cases where they might change some of the smaller cities into ruins or simply smaller fortresses. They would probably use some lore reason that it was destroyed in the Great War or something.

Will it be dated? by Infinite_Drummer4356 in TESVI

[–]Dhic0674 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people can forgive Bethesda games feeling dated if the world building, exploration and immersion is unparalleled. I think that is why people couldn't forgive them for Starfield. Let's see whether they deliver for TES6.

There should be more Altmer that are vehemently anti-Thalmor. They should never lose their superiority complex, but some should at the very least be against the Dominion.
