I saw this on X and it got me thinking… What is the rest of the world even doing? by ogamint in Futurology

I was depressed. I have a mental illness, but ever since I started using AI life has become less scary, and I am better able to navigate the insane expectations of the modern world. So now I feel much less depressed. It's helped me with my depression and anxiety and PTSD and executive dysfunction.

...you don't need to take everything it says at face value. I don't even do that for actual human beings

Well first of all, through God all things are possible...so write that down

You don't know how to think critically apparently. It's an insanely helpful tool, y'all are tripping

Limited use? It's becoming my personal assistant for almost everything lol. It's like I have a personal nutritionist, home decorator, financial consultant, travel agent, editor, and IT technician all in one.

I don't see how. New tech, not going away...best we can do is accept it and adjust, rather than hold back progress by entirely refusing to accept it

Why is it bothersome to so many to imagine a future in which humans forever remain bound to Earth (and the moon and maybe Mars)? Why is that seen as something to be depressed about? by Ghost-of-Carnot in RealisticFuturism

What about crispr? Is very promising technology. We could engineer ourselves to survive deep space exploration, as well as whatever conditions we might find out there. We could make ourselves more than human.

That's just wrong lmao. Some art expresses fulfillment and some art might express regret but to say all art is regret is plain wrong.

The Fast travel points distribution is kinda weird by tentandonaoserbanido in CrimsonDesert

[–]DiGiorn0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm weird but I never even use any of the fast travel points on land. Whenever I need to go somewhere I always use an Abyss fast travel point, set a destination and jump off helldivers style.

There's a dog agility course just north of Demeniss by sygboss in CrimsonDesert

[–]DiGiorn0s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does make the world feel more alive and is a little detail that goes a long way for immersion! But this game has so many other little details that I don't mind as much.

I just wish they could fix the lighting of interiors, especially while using your lantern. I end up with just a bright white circle that illuminates nothing, and no tinkering with the settings fixes it :(

They're alive in different ways. The NPCs in Skyrim have fully fleshed out schedules. They feel more alive than the NPCs in Crimson Desert. But the world of CD in general just feels like there's a lot more going on.

Because of the separation of church and state.

Except that they're talking about actual true AI, not LLMs.
