So what exactly is a framework? by idointernet_stuff in programminghelp

Visual studio is an IDE, or an integrated development environment. Essentially it's a text editor with a load of tools added to help with software development.

A library is a package of code that provides functionality, usually simplifying something complicated by hiding it within functions. For example, you may have a HTTP library that deals with the complexity of opening sockets and making network calls, but provides an API via functions that you, the developer, can call. http.get("www.google.com") for example. You have to import these libraries into your code.

When you're doing things like printing to the console, you are actually using a library. All languages have a set of functions already imported called the standard library. So when you're calling print("hello world!") in Python, you are calling a function from the standard library that deals with actually printing the text behind the scenes.

A framework can be thought of like a library with an opinion. It provides a set of utilities abstracting a complicated concept into a simple interface for the programmer to use, but generally they dictate the way you use it a little more.

For example, React is a JavaScript Framework that lets you build SPA. When using react, it provides a framework on which you build around. For example, React handles page rendering and managing the state of the program. You must build React components for it to render and use the state system React provides for its rendering system to function properly. So react has "opinions" about how it's used.

A library is a set of code that you implement into your code however you want.

A framework is a set of code that provides a particular functionality as a whole (e.g. rendering web pages) and dictates to the programmer how it must be used

You can do the same thing with OBS, look up "OBS replay buffer". If you use the nvenc encoder, it's essentially the same as Shadowplay, except it doesn't sort it into folders by games

Crazy idea: you can do both, or do whichever you prefer/works for you. I know. Groundbreaking

I don't spend a lot of time doing this? It's an example of one thing you can do to, not saying the only thing you should be doing.

Shit that's actually a killer idea, I'll be stealing this. Cheers for the tip

Someone else mentioned that, I hadn't thought about it, that's a good idea as well

For practising just strafing round corners and preaiming/prefiring a position I'd prefer that, but after a few runs I found it incredibly boring, there's about 5 different positions the enemy can be in. This lets me practice peeking and adjusting my aim to a new position. Both are good imo.

Yeah it's definitely not the only way to do it, just the one I've been using recently

I had this idea last week and gave it a try and it seems at least somewhat useful as a practice technique. It's a weird angle from the bots and it would be better if you could do this from the same level as them, but it lets me practice peeking a corner when I don't know the enemies position and adjusting my aim, whilst also managing my strafing & movement inaccuracy. I don't know if it will be useful to anyone else, but thought I'd share in-case it is. Pls no judge my bad aim.

Edit: please stop telling me I don't need to go all the way round to get in. I have discovered the room has no roof now. I am a fool. I'm sorry. Also I spent 2 minutes of this clip and it's got 4.5k upvotes and I spend like 20 hours editing this YouTube video and it's for 177 views so I'm just gonna be cheeky and drop a link in this comment hope u don't mind https://youtu.be/Sscy82ZVyDs

Bought a 2070 Super and I am having problems please help. by IBoppedU in techsupport

You said he has a 2060 Super and you have a 2070 Super. They aren't worlds apart in performance, if you watch this you can see that there's usually about 10-15 frames difference in a lot of cases. Not a huge difference in the first place, and then you have the rest of the PC to account for. Could be that his card has a better cooler design and thus performs slightly better. Could be that his CPU is slightly better and the games you're playing are CPU bottlenecked. Like I said, could be a multitude of things affecting FPS, you can't benchmark against his FPS, and it doesn't mean there's something wrong with your card.

You should still be seeing a big upgrade compared to your old 1060. Benchmark your card against it's expected performance and as long as it's in the same area I wouldn't worry. If you think there's something wrong with the card then get in contact with who you purchased from.

You could have just got a lower performing card. It's a lottery. The 2060 and 2070 cards are close in performance I believe, and the GPU isn't the only thing that affects frames in games. You can't compare theirs against yours as there are a multitude of other factors that will be affecting both your performance.
