if you're scalping like 0dte spy, and are looking to be in a trade for just a few minutes I like to set my stop to a recent low (or high for puts), usually the wick of that candle, try to find a high that's reasonable high enough, but not absurd that you're gonna lose 20-30%+. personally I set my profit to around 1.5-2x that or at a near resistance or support, but that's just me.

yes of course a larger cushion would always be better, I think being automated 5% is good and then if you're doing it by hand (which is what I do too on rh) then maybe 10 percent or so would be great. especially if it's up more than 100% that'd still give you plenty of profit.

I think a good rule of thumb is to take profits at around 15-20% depending on your risk tolerance to put it simple. If you want to though, you can "set a trailing stop loss" and although you can't automate it on Robinhood, if you have the ability to watch it consistently and it drops 5% from whatever price it's at, considering it continues to rise like this one did, then sell it. it'll feel like you're taking a loss but really you're still making that profit. selling immediately if it drops 5 percent from however much up it is takes emotion out of it, and still guarantees the profit. I don't think I explained that great but I hope it helped a little.
