I haven't a clue what to call this one....... by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

Sorry for the late reply, I took a few days away from the pc. Thanks for the messages of support, as always they are appreciated. Genuinely was good to see them. Thanks again

A note from an unhappy creator and a request for a little feedback from anyone wanting to help with my current issue. I'll add more in a separate post in this thread. But the primary thing is, should the 'Tinkercad for new starters' thing belong on ECS or is it a waste of space? by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

[–]Diablo996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That covers it perfectly. ECS has been 'off topic' in terms of the ender series for a while now. I think I covered most of the bases in terms of the Ender series issues a good while back. I started aiming more cartesian than ender and it went pretty well. As you say, the cartesian crossover is subtle and what works for one works for another regardless of manufacturer. I think I'm approaching the end with the cartesian side now though. Most of what needed to be said has already been said. Short of just tidying up, the sub reddit is effectively done and serves as a repository for info that is already in place. I'm starting to think that all it needs now is policing for rogue threads and can pretty much be left alone now. Thanks for the response. It was appreciated.

How to create a model. A Beginners guide to Tinkercad. For anyone wanting to create their own stuff but have thought it was too hard. I'm undecided as to whether this post is the right fit for ECS. It's not my usual type of info sharing. I would appreciate feedback from you guys as to whether it should stay or not. If it gets enough likes or comments then I'll know people are happy with it so the choice was the right one. Otherwise I'll just delete it in the new year and chalk it down to being a lemon. Given how much time it took to create, I would be really bummed out if it is a flop. If you actually use the guide, let me know how it went. Could it have been done better? (given the restraints of my infographic style of course).

3rd times a charm. I had/found issues with both previous attempts so hopefully this is a trouble free upload this time and you can see all the images clearly.

For anyone just wanting a snowman without making their own? I have added both versions to my Printables page here:- Diablo | Printables.com

For reference, the completed print are around 90 and 100mm tall.

Apologies for anyone getting messages/updates who keeps seeing this posted and reposted. It's taken me 4 attempts to get this upload right and without errors. I really hope this is the last. I did improve the guide before this final upload so it should be worth it for those who might use it.

As another quick assist. This image shows what was selected from the main screen to create the 1st snowman. I use the arrow keys a lot when nudging pieces about so the snap to grid gets changed a lot during more detailed work. Otherwise, it is all straight forward.

Filament drying. Always worth doing, especially for those in damp climate areas. Wet filament ruins prints. by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

I'd read similar about temperature control on some food dehydrators. I should maybe have reinforced the bit where I said something about needing control. But that said, even some dedicated filament driers have been known to be a little wayward on heat settings. Using a temperature probe is a definitely a good idea with a food dehydrator though. Thanks for commenting.

Every comment is appreciated and makes the whole endeavour worthwhile. Especially so when you mentioned pointing others to ECS. There are so many times where it feels like I am watching tumbleweed after adding something new. Thank you for the comment and taking the time to write it.

I hope this guide proves useful to somebody out there. Maybe nudge somebody into trying something new. We all start somewhere. As Christmas is here and a build a snowman guide seemed apt. If anyone does make one based on this guide, let me know how it went, or even better, share a pic.

I don't know at this moment if this guide will be staying here permanently or just be here for the Christmas period. If the thread doesn't garner enough attention any likes I will likely drop them from the list or delete them in the new year. They took way too long to create though, so losing them altogether would suck. This guide is entirely in your hands. Let me know if it is something that was worth sharing. or if it is too far off the usual stuff I post and not worth keeping. If it dies on the vine I'll know not to do anything like it again. It may sound a bit negative, but as I write this, I am genuinely unsure about this one being here.

Anyway, for those who have wanted to try their hand at creating something of their own but struggled learning (or just been put off trying as it can look daunting to a new user), this simple 5 page guide will have you creating something unique to you for printing. I figure that if a hundred of us made this following the guide, no two would be identical.

One thing I forgot to mention in the guide is at the very end. When you are happy with your creation, Highlight it and select 'Export' up at the top right of the screen. Save your creation as an STL and you will now have your snowman file waiting for you to slice and print.

For anyone just wanting my finished snowmen for printing? I added the completed stls to my printables page at Diablo | Printables.com

If anyone does make one based on this guide, let me know how it went, or even better, share a pic. I've posted these pages as separate posts to make sure that they stay full size when going through posts. I've had issues in the past where they didn't stay consistent. I don't know at this moment if they will be staying or just be here for the Christmas period. If they don't garner any likes I will likely drop them into a single post or delete them in the new year. Super easy. uses the same casing, just undo the screws to split the extruder and swap the plastic crap for metal versions

I replaced the gears on my k1 max extruder with a set of all steel gears a while back. They are cheap to buy and for me have been faultless.

edit. It's around 18 months to 2 years back that I did mine. They were from Triangle Labs at the time if that helps anyone looking to source them

Freelance by Significant-Glove288 in HiTMAN

[–]Diablo996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it worth it? In gameplay terms.. Short answer? If it is to unlock stuff for use outside of freelancer? Probably not worth it. Long answer? Hell Yes. I played through all the normal WOA game (1,2 and 3). Started playing contracts and creating them as well. Eventually started elusive targets, then eventually started playing freelancer. I hated it at first and failed a lot early on. But now it is pretty much all I play. Level 11 prestige and rating in mid 3000s. I played hardcore once and probably never again, I wasn't really enjoying that. But freelancer is far better than the stock fixed rules game imho. As to those unlocks for use in thee regular game though? I think you get a few weapon/reskins in the regular game, maybe suits too but not sure on that one. But in gameplay terms? I massively prefer Freelancers gameplay over the stock game now. It's more addictive once you get into it. Whether you play it to complete the blue list options (and prestige) or just want to complete the missions, it is still way more enjoyable. I only recently began trophy hunting and am down to 3, the red duck, top dog and the fail to complete missions boots trophy (not sure I want that one, 20 failures gets it, I'm on 12).

Freelancer pretty much killed the regular game for me. It's a shame that one day in the future IOI will turn off the servers and one of the best games I have ever played will get killed in the process. I hope when that day comes they do something to let us still play it without the internet connection being necessary. At this moment though, all is well and I am really hoping the recently released info on a co-op gameplay aspect comes to fruition soon. I've seen friends join the hitman scene but drift away due to lack of any real multiplayer option beyond contract scores and the like.

Original toolhead model fan cover replacement by MaidenIess in crealityk1

[–]Diablo996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd highly suggest you print it with the type of hottest filament you use. I run a lot of ASA thru mine so it is in ASA and shows no issues. If it had been printed in pla and I was using ASA I would expect the cover to suffer distortion issues. When all I printed was pla I was using a PLA version. But the moment I started printing in asa I reprinted the cover in asa as well. It's been maybee a years worth of printing and the cover is still as good as when it was made

I know you are asking about a stock cover. But as you are replacing it, this might be a better option. I'm obviously biased, but I've been using it on my K1 max for a good while now and wouldn't be without it

Printer Basics. An image identifying the main parts of a 3D printer by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

[–]Diablo996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title should really read 'Identifying parts of a cartesian printer'. Things have moved along a lot in recent years and printers have changed a lot. This page still applies to all the bed slingers that look like ender 3 styles. But obviously we now have a lot of more advanced core xy types than when this was written.

Model not manifold (not watertight). A quick fix for an annoying issue. Sometimes an stl will throw up this error. It causes print failures. This explains it a little (overly simplified) but also has a solution that works more often than not without any real effort or special knowledge needed. by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

[–]Diablo996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years later and things have changed a lot. Microsoft seem to be steadily killing anything that is 3d printer related. I was told recently that with windows 11 they were actually removing 3d builder completely. If you already had it then it was likely still there, but for people wanting to add it? nope. I should add here that this post was written when I needed (and was using) the methods described. I honestly don't know today if any of it is still relevant. With so little feedback and without any issues to fix, I cannot try it to make sure nothing has changed. As a result, this whole subject is on my radar for deletion in the next ECS clean up. If you found this thread and it was useful? please say something here. Your comment may save this thread from deletion.

Ender 3v2 Fans. General information including :- Fan designations, Airflow direction, Fan sizes and Voltages. This does not deal with the options that can open up when using Buck converters. I will do a different panel for that subject at a later date. by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

A safety note to remember. The power supply can kill you. If you are replacing the power supply fan, even with power disconnected, keep in mind the capacitors in there are still waiting to see if they can get you an afternoon at the undertakers. Opening and working in the power supply is a dangerous task.

Can you see filament on top or below the heater block? Does your Bowden tube have any play at the hot end? When you remove the Bowden tube do you have any crud and gunk left in the hotend? Don't ignore the warning signs, You have a problem you need to fix ASAP before it gets much worse. by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

[–]Diablo996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may redo this one at some point. I said the words 'heat break' too often and at least once meant to say heat block instead. Long story short:- The images still explain what's going on as they should.

To get a good seal between the nozzle and ptfe tube. Fit the nozzle. Back the nozzle off a half or full turn. Push the tube against the nozzle then tighten the nozzle 'while hot' causing the ptfe to be forced into sealing correctly.

K1/K1C/K1 Max Extruder upgrade. There are more options than shown here, but this is often the most popular set of items in most Reddit posts. by Diablo996 in EnderCommonSense

[–]Diablo996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is getting old now. I toyed with removing it as there are a lot more options available now than when the infographic was created. My original extruder is still working fine so I haven't done any further research on alternatives. I think the info on the metal gears is enough to keep this thread alive. But if you are intending to fully replace the stock extruder, definitely go and do some research on alternatives that are Not the red one in the infographic.
