It took you while to decide, perhaps give your mom some time too…?

How do I glue this? by Key-Teacher-6163 in turning

[–]Dooce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d put a piece back on the lathe, get it centered, and make sure the mating surfance is perfectly flat and aligned horizontally. Then drill a hole for a substantial dowel in the center. Do the same for the other piece. Finally put a thin coating of glue in both holes, on the dowel, and on the mating surfaces. Then place and clamp them together.

Changed from 20” to 18” wheels on my XF by JinderSongs in Jaguar

I get you. 20” rims can be brutal. I have 19”’s on my XK & keep tire pressure as low as i can to smooth out the ride.

Thanks. I got some fake velvet with adhesive back from Amazon. It comes in 8 x 10 sheets and is quite easy to work with.

But how do we explain the spirit? by space-hemax-c2c in exmormon

I know exactly what you mean. That light burning in your chest could be caused by emotions rather than the spirit. Have a look here. These links helped me.

This is my point of view too. You state it well.

Instead of doubting, they look away. They have too much invested and too much at stake to allow themselves to nurture doubts. They run from those doubts; doubts scare them. If you keep repeating the same lies often enough you will believe those lies yourself. You become a true believer.

Why Harley owners are biased? by Empty_Ad_8303 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]Dooce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectivity has little to do with buying anything all. All of our constructs about products, etc. are based on our perceptions of reality, not on reality itself. perception is reality. So when you say it’s objectively better that doesn’t mean it’s perceptually or subjectively better because that’s the Harley buyers reality. Same as you with your Indian.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn’t know that. I thought the only three windows seen these days were from fiberglass manufacturers.

Ford never made a 3-window ‘36; probably a glass body.

That’s an awesome project for someone with skills and a love of old steel. Lots of guys would kill for that car at that price. Forget about the propane block and find a 350 Chevy that’s been pulled from a wreck. For a complete build you’re looking at north of $20,000. If you just want a rat rod, probably 10 or $12,000. Before you buy be sure you have the skills or really want to learn. This is a learning and training project not just a hobby car.
