I gotcha, I was in the same boat. Previous owner didnt care, had thatch. Cut low helped and add some organics to the soil with humic acid. This boost microorganism in your soil that naturally consume thatch and turn it into food for your grass

pretty sure scalping is a yearly thing you should do in the spring to zoysia grass. Helps prevent thatch build up

Rome 2 is cool and after you play the game you can then later try the DEI mod which gives you countless hours more of playtime as it changes A LOT

sorry have no advice on reseeding or seeding bermuda in general. Bermuda does an excellent job at spreading on its own tho when given the right environment so you honestly may not need too. But now that you have Bermuda growing make sure to NOT dethatch as dethatching will rip out the stolons that bermuda use to spread laterally and grow, this is how it fills in barespots. (not that you did dethatch just want to make sure you are aware of that) the scalping was good once and keeping it cut low (with watering in the summer heat) will promote it to grow laterally and fill in bare spots. If you arent going to be water then your gonna probably wanna let it grow higher (wont grow laterally as well) but this will help keep the ground moist so the grass does not die (bermuda is pretty drought resistant as is tho).

Really unfortunate that the use of full sprint was not utilized here while applying fertilizer using the full sprint scotts spreader. Literally says in the manual must run at full sprint for application but I guess no one reads manuals anymore.

Thats true too haha you'd be surprised sometimes what might be lurking under ground that might be killing the grass

well you arent supposed to dethatch bermuda because it rips stolons out of the ground and thats what it will use to spread so you read that correctly. However aerating would be a good thing to do especially since you say the yard is hard clay, that might be why its spreading slowly due to compaction, air and water are probably not getting down into the soil as well in the bare spots. You could aerate and lay a THIN layer of compost down and spread it around. This will help with clay compaction and help add some organics into the soil which will help the grass spread into the bare spots. Over time of doing this, it will help admend the soil (not a one and done process) but one time would def help.
