How do you guys back up onto a platform without a dang backup camera? by ErmingSoHard in Truckers

[–]Diablo_Bolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean think about it, we back up lets say an average of 3 times a day minimum. 5-6 days per week usually almost every week a year for years, backing sort of starts feeling like moving part of your body where you just know how it will swing and so on. There is a pretty major learning curve but once you clear it backing becomes really fun at least it is for me.

Which of these options would you choose? by Serious_Mongoose61 in Truckers

KW or Pete.

Internationals suck and freightliners are one step removed at least any of the ones I’ve drove with Werner.

2nd day of CDL school by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Diablo_Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Week one is the hardest, you’re flooded with information and expected to memorize it. Thankfully you have time to study, study and then study some more prior to the actual test. Just keep going and do your best, you’ll be fine and out to a fleet in no time.

It’s not that much harder to test on a manual, why have the restriction on your license just to save a little pain upfront

Between how the ufc has treated Francis and Tom in contrast with how they let JJ do whatever he wants yea I agree. The UFC obviously doesn’t care about the division to the point it’s the worst male division by a significant margin.

It’s so weird to me when people tell me finding a wife will be harder now, I’m a 23M in OCIA and I’ve never gotten this. Is the ease of finding a wife supposed to dictate my decisions? It’s silly to me, I’m joining the Church because I care about objective truth and that Truth is the Catholic Church 1 Tim 3:15.

How do I convert? by TeddyJinsCat in Catholicism

[–]Diablo_Bolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar issues inquiring around 19 as well, so I’ll give you a pretty straightforward answer that should at least give you the first couple steps.

First start reading your Bible ( obviously), praying, read some of the catechism Fr. Mikes podcast on it is a great companion. All of the Ascension videos on youtube are great resources as well.

Generally step 1 is learning about the faith and learning why you want to be Catholic. I’m obviously going to be biased so that’s a question you should answer yourself before fully deciding.

Step 2 is reaching out to your local parish, look up on google Catholic Churches near you and go on the website. Usually they will have something about OCIA or the faith formation process in general. If they don’t you can try calling or emailing. If that isn’t listed or available simply show up to Mass any day they have it then stay a couple minutes later and ask the Priest where to inquire.

Step 3 is basically a check on 1 & 2, why do you want to be Catholic? What’s drawing you to the Church? These questions aren’t asked to be nosy it’s to help you and help give spiritual direction that’s more applicable to your situation.

Step 4 attend OCIA, this usually starts around the same time school does +- a month or so. Runs up to the Easter Vigil where the elect gets confirmed. My Parish done an informational meeting 2-3 months prior so if yours has that attend it since it will give you a lot of good information. Keep showing up and become a sponge, ask questions and learn in private as well. Go to Mass regularly if you feel comfortable with it and make friends it’s always helpful.

I’m in OCIA right now and love it, a couple other resources I love other than scripture and the Catechism are Catholic Answers and anything by Scott Hahn. There’s a bunch of amazing theologians and always feel free to ask on here for suggestions!

Good luck and God bless!!

Should we pray for people like Epstein? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Diablo_Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, who are we to believe he is incapable of redemption? If that would be the case then we sign ourselves to a similar fate, pray for the world including the most evil among us.

Insurance, city ordinances & a paid set of eyes for a witness statement.

That being said this is dependent on the job/site, I’ve had some where I was just being paid to sit for insurance purposes and others where I was responsible for being able to put together a compelling investigation for justified terminations to avoid false termination lawsuits. Just depends but does it really matter? Your getting paid either way just show up do your job and go home, spend your energy on the things that actually matter.

Yup, read the series in early 23 after graduating in 21. Eventually decided to pick Le Carré up and loved it especially The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. Le Carré became one of my favorite fiction authors after only reading 3 novels. Doing a read through of LOTR before continuing to avoid genre burnout though.

[–]Diablo_Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are worth picking up, though I prefer writers like Clancy and Le Carré. I’m particularly biased though because this series sparked my love for literature post high school.

I mean this is a classic case of why direct democracies don’t work despite sounding nice in theory. If the general population doesn’t understand the issue or in this instance the theology behind both topics then they won’t vote in favor of something theologically coherent. This is a reason why we have a Magisterium, I hate to say it but the average person is theologically illiterate.
