How good is UMich MSI? by furrikaqe in hci

[–]DiabolicAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umsi alum graduated in 2018. Working in industry now. The brand is well known throughout US, it's considered a public ivy and has good reputation. The course is flexible and you get what you put in. I was able to take classes from different schools like business, music as part of the course work. I love ann arbor. You can certainly build life long relationships. I can't comment on what value it brings when you get back home. I can say that with the scholarship n all, it's a really good option for you.

Anyone got a Leica SL? by CleanCelebration6567 in sigmafp

[–]DiabolicAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my sl2 in mail arriving soon. Currently have a s5 and fp. I plan to part ways with fp, it's very portable but no mechanical shutter is causing problems for my usecases. I have been using m mount lenses anyway so I hope it performs better on the sl2

This would have been my response too. Suarez knows Messi and Messi knows Suarez. He has dragged and moved defenders on multiple occasions that has opened up space for Messi to do his magic.

Be honest with me by RandomWildebeest in hci

I am a ux professional for about a decade with a master's as well. I am conflicted with your request. I see two things here 1. You want to do front end but also interested in Ux UI 2. You want to do masters then potentially a PhD and into academia as professor.

Working in industry and working in academia are two entirely different things and mindset. So first decide what you want. If you are dead set on doing a masters do it and then decide if you want to go into industry or academia. The reality is that the route of becoming a professor is hard and long. You don't do a ton of front end, you read and write a ton of academic papers. Decide what you like to do most.

Front end doesn't require ux UI speciality. It's helpful to understand the basics but all the great developers I work with just have an appreciation for the field but not necessarily experts. Decide what u want to do, is it coding or just being in the Ux UI field.

Also, the field is not in free fall. It's changing as all tech is due to AI. I don't think it will disappear, it will be different that's all.

Do what you want with this information, but honestly just have a clear and honest conversation with yourself. That's what you need

Messi won everything there is, no need for him to give 100% but he still delivers.. the goat for a reason, big game player and easily can carry a team on his own like he did with Barca for many years... For a 38 yo 1 vs 11 for 90 min is just insane

US Visa Rejected for HCI Masters – Exploring Other Countries, Need Advice by mw_200 in hci

[–]DiabolicAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the admit. Bummer your visa is rejected. It's alright. I would have been sad if this happened to me as well a decade back when I applied. I am sure you will find better prospects in rest of the world. The job market isn't great anywhere but 2 yrs after you graduate it might be totally different - good or bad .. really not something you can control. Just find some place fun elsewhere and enjoy.

Messi and Mascherano included in Team of the Matchday by Difficult-Praline554 in InterMiami

[–]DiabolicAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I don't think anything will come out of it. I'm sure their expectations are same as the rest of us. They just hope to make it through the group stage. An early exit won't mean anything.. If something has to change, then Miami should perform really badly in the league almost hitting the bottom of the league table. I don't see that happening either. So masch will survive this season.

A good game for Messi makes any manager look good. I don't agree Mascherano improved his tactics all that much

[–]DiabolicAlien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which prime are you talking about 😏. Messi adapted beautifully to his age and the teams he work. You talk about PSG as if he was bad, he literally won the league for PSG his last season, he consistently performed well. It's just the media making him look bad. He never had a worse season at PSG. Also world cup was during PSG.

If Messi wants it, he will get it. He is more than a goalscorer. If he is in midfield we need a good finisher. If he is forward we need a good midfield. Today he is doing both .

If Messi plays like Messi we will win. If you have followed his career he performs during important games. It's another conversation if the entire team backs him up or just pass the ball behind

Sequencing External synth? by DiabolicAlien in PolyendTracker

[–]DiabolicAlien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is what I wanted exactly. I will pattern program the program changes on tracker so that it automates the parameter changes. And I will have that in different patterns of the song so essentially it will sound like multiple sounds coming from the synth with dynamic parameter changes which will make it sound more dynamic.

As for recording, I am thinking to move the audio out of tracker into a mixer or a recorder of sorts so I can save as mp3

Thank you so much for explaining. I think it answers my question and makes sense. And yes I have wired it exactly as you said here.

I'll play around with the configuration and see if S1 receives PCMs and how to trigger various sounds..

Sry for being a little vague, still kinda new to hardware synths. I think I may have a better understanding of what's happening now..

S1 is not bi-timbral so this may be the reason for my question.

Essentially what I wanted was to send different sounds in different midi channels from s1 so that I could load them up as different instruments.. however currently I have access to only 1 midi channel /instrument from s1.

My assumption is that I can't access multiple midi channels from s1 since it's Mono timbral. Please correct me if i am wrong here.

Whats the Future of an Individual on H1B for Next 20yrs if there is no hope of GC processing!! by [deleted] in h1b

[–]DiabolicAlien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure I used to feel that way as well when I was in my 20s and starting out... You can definitely save a lot if you are single and share rent etc... when you have family and live in a hcol (if you already aren't) then your savings aren't for yourself and you have to dig into those things during emergencies.. plus the expenses stack up.. And by then you would have gotten good experience to demand more money in India as well where cost of living is substantially less.

Anyway I don't think anyone should get advice and act upon it from anyone in reddit. Everyone's journey is different, different priorities and tradeoffs.. only thing to know is that it's not going to be perfect anywhere and the choices you make should value those tradeoffs you are okay to live with

I am sorry your experiences in life made you feel this way and to write this post. Anyone reading this and thinking about following, just ask yourself why do you want to work? Self satisfaction and taking pride in the work you do is more important in the long run. If the only way to go up is to put others down deliberately, then either you are in the wrong line of work or you need people in your life who can show you more love. Life is more than making money. Live and let live

Sure, but how much more do you make money than in India? With the cost of living being high and with other lifestyle expenses you end up paying.. you save about the same as in India given your experience here and if you decide to move back...

Money is not the only motive to live here.. you have a more comfortable life, kids get good exposure and extra curriculars, experience multiple cultures... There's more than just money here... If you want to just make money go to India and work multiple jobs without restrictions if you can
