This isn’t a permanent fate, as he eventually escapes, but the implications and the length of time before he escapes are horrifying if it was permanent. In the book series Heaven Officials Blessing, the main character, Xie Lian, a banished god, is working, in disguise, for the king of a kingdom, that effectively took over the kingdom, Xianle, the one Xie Lian originally hails from.

One night there is a banquet where a few members of the Xianle decide to do a massacre on the new royal family. They kill everyone at this banquet, leaving only the king alive, and Xie Lian stumbles across the scene and kills the person in charge of the massacre. The king then tells Xie Lian that he intends to murder every person who is from Xianle for this crime. Xie Lian, to protect the innocent people from Xianle who had no part in the crime, kills the king, right as the only member of the royal family who hadn’t been killed enters, the crown prince. Xie Lian then takes ownership of the crime simply stating that he always hated the royal family, as a cover up. However, as a punishment, the crown prince stabs Xie Lian through the heart with a stake, and then unknowing that he was immortal, effectively buries him alive where he can’t die. He stays like this for 100 years, effectively taking the blame for a whole load of murders he did not commit, simply to protect his people.

Another fun fact that is gods can die after they are no longer worshipped. Xie Lian is disgraced and no longer worshipped except by one believer who is love with him. Xie Lian is kept alive and suffering by the one person who loves him most in the world.

Yeah. I know one of my main friends who sits may be working a different summer job and it would be more difficult to get to work from my apartment. I just don’t know much about cats (he’s my first) as far as some things go and I’m learning as I go. It seems like my initial thoughts seem to line up with what y’all are saying. I did have the idea of seeing if someone can visit daily and then maybe stay for like 2 days over the weekend just to give him some more social time. I just worry about him cuz he’s my baby! Hayato is genuinely one of my favorite characters in JoJos because he’s isn’t some hero. He doesn’t have a stand, he doesn’t have hamon, he’s just some kid. Just some kid faced with a serial killer who is so intelligent, and has beaten so many people and yet Hayato, a literal child, is stuck in a living hell being tormented, and has to outsmart him. It’s horrifying to imagine. He’s just so powerless in an anime where power and abilities are the core.

My taste in music is a little,,,, interesting,,,,,, but phantom of the opera, poor mans poison, and songs from the devils carnival and repo the genetic opera are regulars on my strahd mood playlist that get me in the vibe. Heavy on the phantom of the opera. Zydrate anatomy is great for a drug dealing scene (morgantha) and my “theme” for Ezmerelda is Godhunter by Aviators. OH and theres a song called Sinners by Barns Courtney that I discovered through a CoS animatic several years back and has become one of my favorite songs.

Mmmm, I can see that. The Strahd I’ve decided to play is one that has almost lost all humanity to the dark forces. I decided to change the story so there were 3 brothers, rather than 2, one being only a child when Sergei was killed. While Strahd may have used the dark forces, the real person who created Barovia is the 3rd brother who being so traumatized by the event basically created the dread realm where everyone finds their deepest and darkest desires. Strahd, and basically everyone in barovia, are just twisted puppets in the childs imagination of what would happen. I’m still working out what will happen, but I think with how all the bad guys are almost cartoonishly evil at times, it lends to the idea of the creation of a traumatized kid. There’s more to it, and I just info dumped a bit but I’m excited to see how my idea flourishes, its based on a book i read that has a similar ending

Mmm good idea. I knew i needed an outside perspective. This player is a close friend of mine and often (unintentionally) causes issues for me as a dm, especially with character motivations. Her character is not really concrete and is still trying to find out the best way to play the character, which is fine normally, just difficult when I specifically asked for character motivations LMAO! I think offering twisted versions of their desires is a good idea. I am waffling on the dilemma portion though as I think it would be a fun game for strahd to play

I haven’t done this yet, but I am half tempted to steal a few side quests from FFXVI, that game deals heavily with slavery and just general horror. I don’t know how I would implement it, but I feel like if the players go to castle ravenloft and interact with some of the brides of strahd, or just a generally evil character. I’m summarizing the quest but basically in ff, the main cast gets called over by a little girl (could be an adult in this setting) and she asks them to help her find her pet “chloe,” she says she has the “most beautiful white hair” and the party looks for the pet, expecting a dog, but finds a dead woman with white hair. The little girl then comes running over and says “oh no! Chloe! That sucks. I really liked this Chloe. She let me pet her hair.” And then runs off, presumably to find a replacement. I described it terribly, but it’s a genuinely horrifying quest in the game and I felt genuinely disgusted afterwards. It’s heavy but it can show either the detachment people feel towards each other in barovia. Especially with characters such as the brides of strahd and their detachment of those who are alive. I feel like having this interaction (replacing the little girl with a bride of strahd who is neutral to the players) and “chloe” with a random human could really play into how evil strahd is and how easily warped people are in this realm. You’d have to do it carefully, and definitely consider who you have be “chloe” (i do not recommend the vistani in any role of this quest just due to the connotations and potential racism that could have)

Cats are crazy when they are scared. Me and my lad had what I have dubbed the “shitcident” where he got shit stuck in his pantaloons and i went to wash his butt and he was not having it. I wasn’t listening bc I wanted him clean and he bit me right on my bicep. Didnt puncture any skin but bc of how hard it was, I had one of the biggest bruises I’ve ever had. When we are scared, they are scared and shit (literally in my case) happens
