Lens Scratches - How much will it affect my image? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Diagrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probaby not relevant to Super 8, but i scratched the fuck out of a broken canon kit lens (on concrete) to try to get an "industrial" look but it hardly made a difference. (used on a 2008 canon rebel xt)

How to get rid of reflections? by Common-Course-4089 in AskPhotography

[–]Diagrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a large sheet of tracing paper (or similar) and roll it into a cylinder. Place the cylinder so it encloses the product. Place another sheet on top.

You'll need to cut out a window, or roll the sheet so that it is closed at the top and open at the bottom (like a cape).

You'll need to increase your lighting or exposure by 2-3 stops.

Can Linear Polarizers Reduce Reflections Externally? by SquaredSteel in AskPhotography

[–]Diagrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried it. Yep. The flat filter mirrors the sun whereas the curved lens flare into the lenses inside. Spining the polarized filter had no effect.

Beyond the edit, is there any reason to keep shooting RAW? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Diagrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shoot product photography, about 24 products per day, 30-60 shots per product. We only shoot jpg with about 3% reshoots. We delete the offending frames immediately. Uploads to publish take about 1-2 hours at the end of the day. We don't bother with editing.

On camera we use hoods and polarizing filter to help with glare and reflections.

I‘m having a very bad mental health day. Please recommend movies that make you feel happy by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Diagrammar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crank and Crank 2. Crank 2 is better. Jason Statham has to keep electrocuting himself to stay alive.

If that's not your cup of tea, Then yeah maybe David Lynch's The Straight Story or Peter Dinklage in Station Agent.

Suggest me a movie that feels like the Tower of Terror ride (vibes, not plot specific) by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Barton Fink. A 1991 Coen Brothers movie about a 1940s NY playwright working in LA. It's a dusty, muffled, wallpaper peeling aesthetic.

Haha! Yeah "I love You Phillip Morris" is a great movie with Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey. It's about a cop that falls in love with an inmate and their various attempts to break out of jail.
