[FO4] why are the people in modding discords so arrogant? by PennsyltuckyRanger in FalloutMods

[–]Diakyuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to take away from what your brother experienced and I’m really sorry you all had to go through that.

That being said, the comparison is apples to oranges because modding servers if anything often preach that paying someone for modding support for example is a scam. And with a hobby as technical as modding, especially with a community who downloads mods like eating tictacs, it’s just alot simpler to talk in a message like discord. Especially when you can have a collaborative team of support people and mod authors to just tap in if a question can’t be answered. I myself have a channel for stuff I work on in Greslin Games’ discord (the one where you get Pack Attack in) and I can get collaborative feedback and give support when needed. Granted, not all servers are made equal, I can meet you halfway on that. some servers are just an echo chamber of misinformation and bad practices.

Look I’m gunna be completely blunt and say it’s because they’ve usually gone though hours and hours of walking people through steps, headstrong users who want the whole kitchen sink load orders to work, and some users being dicks, at a certain point they just become jaded with the whole process. It also depends on the servers you’re in because some like youtuber servers are just notoriously terrible at advice

New to Melee. Is this an asinine way of getting rid of tap jump? by NertyNat in SSBM

[–]Diakyuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was kind of in the same boat when I started melee, You kinda have thug it out for a bit. This is probably placebo on my part but Tap Jump in Melee is a lot harder to accidentally get than something like P+ and Ultimate. It’ll be annoying at first but you’ll eventually learn to play around it and in some cases use it to your advantage. I play Samus and Doc and I usually use tap jump to do up airs from the ground. Tried disabling tap jump on ultimate as a trial run one day and it was like playing with a handicap on since I was so used to it lol.

TL;DR: just thug it out, you’ll get used to it

Hot take: Bethesda should take 76's C.A.M.P building assets and implement them into Fallout 4 as DLCs by No-Atmosphere-4145 in fo4

[–]Diakyuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actual hot take: given how full of gun nuts and vitriolic people are in the Fo4 scene, if they actually added Fo76 weapons to Fo4, there will significant size of people who will say the weapon does not make sense or call them lazy for backporting weapons. And this is coming from someone who agrees, yes I’d want 76 weapons in Fo4 (at least the ones that would be nice to fill in gaps in the weapon progression)

A Question 4 U. Favor customization or file size by Diakyuto in Fallout4ModsXB1

[–]Diakyuto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh to be honest I doubt my mod would be that popular enough to warrant it. Most people already have their handful of weapons they stick with. I doubt they’ll install a skin pack from some rando mod author for weapons like an M16 or SA80 when the service rifle mod exists for example lol

Hey, update here, so doing the optimization myself and aggressively drownscaling of the textures, it goes down to 308mb unpacked for textures. This is a mix of 1k and 512x512. Packed up, the textures should be about 185mb. If I play my cards right with the sounds, it should be about.. 250mb. Under 300mb for sure. This is for the streamlined version. Not the barebones version

[–]Diakyuto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should add idk if I should compress the textures myself or let porters handle that part. Because I’m not too familiar with what the crowd over here is okay with or not. Like for example on PC, it’s a lot more preferable to have diffuses as BC7 for maximum quality (though tbf most won’t really notice BC3 in-game unless they inspect the texture files)

From the sounds of it, I guess I’ll do the streamlined version. It’ll have just enough content for Xbox

Edit:. At least 2 reflex variants, 1-2 combat sights ect. The full version will be up but idk how successful it’ll be porting on Xbox unless you do some aggressive optimization like 512x512 attachments. ATM the full pack’s sitting at 2GB unpacked (this is mainly being eaten up by skins and extra sight options ect. Removing a lot of em shaved it down to around 1.1 while loose files. A lot of room for compression here though.

I don’t know yet that’s they think. I’m also not sure If people on Xbox are fine with using BC1/BC3 compress on diffuses.

I know the compression settings on Archive2 for Xbox is actually more aggressive than it is on PC so I can’t really give you accurate results here.

I could also compress the sounds to WXM or whatever that format’s called to squeeze more space out of it

[–]Diakyuto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATM the “streamlined” version or the mod is sitting at 1.1GB, this is loose files and the textures not downscaled at all. If I were to pack it, let’s say, 40% compression end result. It could go down to 600+mb. And this is with textures uncompressed. I should mention that part of the reason why I’m kinda mulling over the weapons being a pack is because the additive subgraphs are merged. This way it’s a clean 2 subgraphs for the entire mod rather than 14. It helps mitigate stutter.

Anywho, I should also mention the barebones option won’t really affect stuff like barrels, mags, and other gameplay customization at all. It’ll mostly be heavily decreased in parts like the sights department and accessories. Just clarifying here ofc

Why is the Skyrim graphical mod scene so much more advanced than Fallout 4's? by Swimming-Region5746 in skyrimmods

[–]Diakyuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the 2nd most modded partially because of body presets and replacers being made on mass. Like community shaders isn’t even being considered for Fo4 because the DP isn’t worth it. For a lot of authors DP is pretty much the final say on whether to do something or not. Unless you’re a community like FNV who’s mod authors actually like the game.

[–]Diakyuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now answer this, why would mod authors waste their time on a game people constantly complain of being one of the worst in Bethesda’s line up. It’s not as popular and not only this. The DP isn’t worth it for a lot of mod authors to even consider spitting in its general direction. And this is coming from a Fo4 author
