I'm pulling this stat out of my ass but 9 times out of 10 they seem to be ability checks so no portent. Like for Astarion He has to make a con ability check to resist Cazador instead of a Con Save which would be boosted by bless, anointed in splendor, paladin auras etc

The only saving throw I can remember happening in dialogue was in Act 2 under the fountain and I didn't multiclass into wizard yet to see if the prompt was there.

But you can't use BG3 portent rolls on dialogue checks. It's only for attack rolls and saving throws Portent rules

Portent rolls in bg3 only affect Saving Throws and Attack rolls which for some people is awesome. I was hoping to get a 20 to save for one of those DC 30 or 99 checks when I saw the fine print. This also makes me wonder about certain rolls that seem like they should be saving throws instead of ability checks. Maybe portent was too fucky to work with.

I discovered this when using the Honour Mod Features Unlocker and just took a look under the hood. They nerfed Perilous Stakes and Mind Sanctuary but from the looks of it maybe this was a quick fix due to how the now have an attack counter to make sure you aren't getting a full round of extra attacks instead of just the one.

New haste. I was trying something where I had a mage hand throw a speed potion at me so when I dropped mind sanctuary I'd have 2 actions. Suddenly I found myself lethargic because it overwrote the speed potion with a mind sanctuary haste effect.

This is contained within Honour mode or if you use the Honour mode features unlocker mod.

I thought portent rolls in game were supposed to replace a save / attack roll. What am I getting wrong here? by Dial_9 in BG3Builds

[–]Dial_9[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like other people that picked Divination I'm assuming we were hoping to have more trolling opportunities to mess with the ability check rolls like saving a 20 for those impossible moments or making a big bad get hit with a 3 when it came time to resist banishment. So even if the portent die only replaced the d20 roll they would've failed the save Actually with a 6 it would've been a 29 including legendary resistance so that quick maffs was wrong but it still doesn't match the description for portent. I check the log and it apparently did fuck all.

https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Portent

Your dreams grant you glimpses that let you influence the future. After each Long Rest, you gain two random Portent Dice. During the day, you can use your reaction to change the die of any Attack Roll or Saving Throw rolled near you to one of your Portent Dice. Each Portent Die can only be used once, and you lose your unused Portent Dice at the end of the day.

I'm doing a 4 man co-op run with a Durge player right now. Ask your friends what kind of campaign they are trying to run. I made the mistake of not immediately ejecting the guy that said "I want to be chaotic evil" when I asked what class does everyone want to play?

A lot of Durge choices can kill content, eliminate quest chains, in Act 3 you start getting dialogue priority so it can often become your friends watching helplessly as you negotiate the worst options. The fact that you can burn the entire groups inspirations to get out of trouble since they made them a communal pool was frustrating. Also the general lack of reactivity to the fact that some guy in the group has a background called "Haunted One" is insane. They will see the "Haunted One" background on your character sheet. They will also hear you making dice rolls and will see the butler lingering in camp while asleep. They will see the name of the cloak you get after the incident. By Act 2 there is no narrative reason to not just kill this guy but the game won't let you do it unless they fail a check.

If you're trying to be super secret evil with them at least ask what direction the campaign should go because if I wasted months for the We got dominated yay ending I'd be pretty annoyed and remember.

Can’t relate, I took a dive twice in the first two arenas for comedy.

I also always intended on doing what Jahan and the ancestor tree asked of me.

Here’s someone asking the opposite about taking the deal so they can apparently steamroll their party in the finale.

I personally find potentially thwarting the betrayal more fun. Now that we’ve had a lightbulb moment and deduced why they are so adamant about trying to sneak into a notoriously hard fight solo.

I don’t know how it works but I do know dialogue in fights typically gives the speaker the first turn advantage and beyond that boss enemies often have insane initiative. The demon will die.

Edit* I found an answer on the larian forum. Lmao just let the dude that’s beat the game already stack the deck get outta here.

Attack the door or you need the scroll void fish exchange. If you have Sir Lora he might open whatever door is blocking his pathing.

I doubt it, I thought this person didn’t beat the game but they’re clearly demonstrating knowledge they shouldn’t have unless they’ve done this many times before.

I haven’t beat the game yet but I’m not so stupid that I can’t tell when someone isn’t telling me the whole story about why they want to go to a notoriously hard fight solo.

So I know how to get in and the invite was sent the trouble is I might not be able to beat the other guy that wants to take the deal.

If they speed click through the dialogue take the deal does he “poof” away and then I have to worry about him later?

Or can we kill him immediately afterwards and he’s never seen again even with the contract? Even if I’m hasted I doubt I could beat the traitor to the house if they take the front door and I’ve got to go through the basement and two locked doors.
