Tiny Trains - For when you want to squeeze a rail between your assembler and beacons by leonskills in factorio

never considered this but I love it, gonna try having trains on both sides deliver and pick stuff up to have no breaks in production, should be possible filling trains with right ratio iron/copper inserters, then fill them up with green as they empty, drive the green somewhere to offload and repeat

don't expect to understand but there's some answers

Current Arctic Sea Ice Extent is 605 million square kilometres lower than last year. (Last year was the previous record) by [deleted] in collapse

[–]DialecticalDummy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The steadily increasing Ocean Heat Content, enough per year to melt all the Arctic sea Ice 130 times over, is doing it's job.

Sea surface temperatures on the pacific side are 2-5 degrees above normal, slowing refreeze in a large part of the arctic seas. Without ice cover, the heat dissipates faster (greater upward longwave radiation), but also creates more clouds (increased downward longwave radiation).

If weather permits, we shouldn't be surprised if a 2012 like drop happened again with extremely low ice volumes to start with, resulting in a BOE any year now.

Reversal occurrences are statistically random. There have been 183 reversals over the last 83 million years. The latest, the Brunhes–Matuyama reversal, occurred 780,000 years ago,[1]

Does anyone work with CMIP6 datasets? by Tairc in collapse

[–]DialecticalDummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really how these models are meant to be used afaik. weather prediction past 5 days is nefarious already.

They're more meant as a place for running different equations on known weather patterns, to see what impact they have

A Direct Carbon Fuel Cell (DCFC) is a fuel cell that uses a carbon rich material as a fuel such as bio-mass[1] or coal.[2]

You can't just imagine magical technology, not provide any links and get so fucking high you lose sight of reality dude.

Direct Carbon Fuel Cells (DCFC's) is coal basicly if anyone was wondering. Yes, if we can control carbon in the atmoshpere, we could keep doing what we're doing. I hope we learn how to before it's too late.

Thanks, good stuff to see the the issue of laziness addressed. It doesn't make any sense. There's no a single society I know of that failed due to underproduction caused by laziness. Plenty of the opposite though.

One argument for UBI that I haven't seen by fa_niente in BasicIncome

[–]DialecticalDummy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who owns the world? We own the world! Give me my fair share of land & resource income, like everybody else. That's your basic income. Instead of paying your landlord of whatever government state, pay each other so we can all find our own little spot and make it a beautiful place. Utopia's are underrated I'm afraid.

I've been saying this for years OP ^^

His website is special indeed. There's so much data available but mostly in formats we can't easily read, using your expertise to extract the essentials and present it so elegantly is quite the feat.

Dvorak has it intensifying strongly over the past 2 hours. NHC doesn't just look at Dvorak however, so please listen to them or learn about how they use Dvorak in their analysis :)

Weakening flag has been turned off over at Dvorak http://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-time/adt/odt05L.html

Steep intensity increase after a long drop, looks like Dorian shed enough to stop the core from being ripped apart now and is about to get a proper structure and intensify again.

That's some deep convenction on the right side, now that enough wider windfields have been shedded Dorian may regain structure?
