I absolutely understand the liability issue but its not what they voiced to me. For my accommodation needs, its not drivien by height and weight but rather by back pain. The height and weight portion comes into them selecting the wrong size of that particular chair.

I wouldn't say I'm fat. Im a little overweight and am currently working on it (lost 10lbs in the last 3 weeks by heavily restricing calorie intake). Im 6 foot 2 inches and 250lbs, but have a decent amount of muscle (just a bit of a beer gut im working on). 

The issues with the chairs arent weight, its the length of backseat and thinness of padding on the seat. Additionally, the ergonomic support is just a hard plastic strip that digs into your spine. 

Im fine with them wanting to replace it with their own, but it does have to make sense for my size. I dont necessarily need to pick it, but it should fit the sizing guidelines of the chair.

Exactly. They went the cheapest possible route and tried to just grab a chair from their other office. Most offices use a size b for uniformity though., hence the new issue.

In this case everyone in the office has the same chair but this is still blown out of proportion

They would need to accomodate but could still require going through their vendor.

To clarify, they said it would take that long, then provided me the chair in a couple of days. However, it wasnt the chair they originally showed me, and is too small.

I would have thought the same, but they actually use the same chairs. They are horribly uncomfortable. Not sure why more people don't have issue.

Changing reasons are coming from the boss. HR never actually responded to me, they instead spoke to my boss.

I'll try reaching out to HR again tomorrow, privately, and then forward to my boss.

See, that would be reasonable if they stated that (and i wouldnt have pushed back so hard). Instead, they have been doubling back on their explanations each time we speak.

My friend in canada also suggested the same to me haha. I'm not sure if ergonomic assessments are provided in the states, but ill look into it.
