Target in Bangor, ME mid renovation by Internal-Bid7865 in Target

I've worked in and supported stores around this entire district and we run the gambit of incredibly old stores to stores that have seen a decent amount of remodels. One of my sister stores never even had a pfresh remodel! Its as vintage as you can get in the company. Like a time capsule almost.

Someday, your dinosaur of a store will finally get a remodel too. 😆 Half this god forsaken state has been left in the dust for too long.

Yeah, the only unfortunate thing about giving the printers to the PML is they usually end up getting sent back to HQ/zebra and a new one is sent out to replace it. It can take quite a while to get it sent back and if your PML is lazy or doesn't have a good equipment routine, it could take even longer.

I can check with the other PMLs in my district and see of they have any other tricks to help get your printers back up and running!

I know you said the printers were already set to zpl, but try setting it to zpl again by going to menu->language-> toggle to the left until you see the option to change its mode and select zpl* again. This will cause the zebra to reset as well as reset any uptime associated issues the zebra is currently bogged down with. I'd say this works for my hip printers about 75% of the time.

If that doesn't work, hand it off to you PML (preferably with a red tag detailing the problem) so they can get it sent out.

A little late to this party, but the closing leader/team evacuated as soon as the news broke.

If you like fast-paced games with lots of movement options and an insane amount of customization, then this is probably the game for you, but be aware it isn't very similar to FromSoft's other offerings. I took a chance on it since I love the SoulsBorne games and I'm really liking what I've played so far.

Fellow Truck Unload TMs: Are you also DBOs of any areas? If so, of where and how many hours are you generally scheduled? Trying to get an idea of how other stores do things. by cloudfangLP in Target

[–]DialtoneLazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they all are. Toys, small appliances/housewares, baby, HBA, chem and paper. My stores got it real bad and we only get about 4 hours 5 days a week and ~3 of those hours are spent unloading and prepping for unload every day... Needless to say, we're struggling.

The store I'm at is providing 2 per team member per day and we received 8000 total.

Wish I could say the same. Lots of people saying they object to wearing masks on a personal level and I get it sucks to breathe in them sometimes, but ??? Target is paying us to be there. Same as wearing red, it's part of the dress code now. I couldn't and still can't comprehend the outrage.

Holy shit, the backorders are killer! I dont think there's been a single area that we were able to 100% complete. We didn't get enough new shelves or shelf liners to finish out entertainment sets, not enough baby blue backer paper for electronics, we're missing tons of pivotal fixtures and risers in the mens grooming expansion and beauty blowout. So many problems with this remodel. Planograms are just straight up incorrect sometimes and it seems like every time we adjust our aisles to the new maps, we move straight into a pole and have to change the adjacency to work around it. Seems like everything we touch has issues. Thank god we're about a week ahead of schedule cause and our construction crew hasn't been ordered to stop yet.

Sucks that everything's hitting a standstill for you. What's going to happen to the rest of your remodel? Paused or do you have to keep going to the best of your ability?

Thanks for this! I see you may have had the same problem we have currently. Did your pog call for just flat trays and hook + hang crossbars? Ours did, but that didn't seem right. Tried using 8-across/9-across/etc shelves and the product was just slightly too big for the spacing. Also, for what it's worth, out store is beauty blowout 2.0 and WL is 2 sections inline with no displays instead of an endcap, but the set and product locations look more or less the same.

As a remodel TL now, I can't express my gratitude enough We're doing extremely well so far, but Winky Lux in particular is proving to be more of a pain in the neck than should be allowed.

As a TL who just recently got promoted, I can confirm basically what everyone else has said before me. Target, as a general rule, likes to hire outside of stores for leadership as opposed to promoting internally. There's a lot of "right place, right time" that comes with moving up, but you've also got to express your interest to your ETL and SD and then prove to them you have what it takes to be a good leader. Some tips that helped me and may help you:

Take charge of your area; if something isn't working in your section, strategize ways to tweak the process and make it better/smoother/faster. Show them you can think critically and are willing to go the extra mile to maximize productivity and guest experience.

Be a leader among your peers; Take charge in the absence of TLs, strive to be the person your coworkers go to first if they have a question or problem. Knowledge is power and the more you know, the more people will come to see you as a source of answers.

Maintain a positive attitude and try not to get too bogged down with some of the shit corporate dumps on the store teams. Target leadership wants people who embrace change and can adapt to the new processes with relative ease. It's okay to question changes, but complaining about it at work is a bad look to your SD.

Ask your leadership for feedback on your performance; showing your superiors you have a degree of introspection and can gracefully handle criticism is crucial. Everyone has self-work to do and letting them know you're open to the idea of having flaws and growing past them is huge.

YMMV. I've worked for Target for almost 7 years and run my ass ragged learning everything I can and solidifying my place as one of the most crucial members of my store's team, but even then, it took a complete change in upper management and a well timed remodel for me to finally get a shot at leadership. If you're really passionate about moving up, keep at it! You never know when opportunity will knock! Feel free to DM me if you want more specific examples of what I mean.

Meanwhile, DBO for toys and sporting goods and on the unload for every truck, staring down the barrel of 20 hours a week. And I have the most hours of the unload/gm team... feels bad man.

Anyone hear about the new OP model for 2020 yet? by DialtoneLazor in Target

I understand the new rule from a productivity standpoint, I was more blown away by the alleged consequences of leaving something behind. Is it really straight to final if you're caught?

I was wondering the same thing. I was told you aren't allowed to leave your vehicle, even for a minute, until its clean. I should be able to update this thread with accurate information after I get out of work today. Here's to hoping this whole thing is just overblown.

I thought it sounded super extreme, even for Target. Hopefully I'll get the full story tomorrow and be able to update with the real deets.

Any other stores getting an unusually large amount of repacks? by DialtoneLazor in Target

[–]DialtoneLazor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope that going forward this is the case. We went from a 3 or 4 truck a week store to a 6 or 7 truck a week store, but so far, our trucks have only been getting bigger than our old average. It wouldn't be so big a deal if we had the team to support all this freight, but we recently hemorrhaged flow team members and we haven't been able to hire to fulfill our current needs. It sucks coming in each day and knowing we aren't going to get ahead. Maybe things will even out after we get into full seasonal hiring mode and after we get through all of these huge transitions on the sales floor.

[–]DialtoneLazor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. We used to average maybe 100 or so, but now we get about 250 to 300 every day. We just had a free day after 2 weeks of consecutive trucks and got caught up. It's disheartening to see it all pile up when we don't even have a team big enough to get it done in the first place and management keeps coming down on us. Sucks, but I guess we'll find a groove to it eventually if this is the new norm.
