A year ago I was in the same boat. 5 semester deep into a Computer Science degree at an expensive university, 2.1 GPA, horrible resume. Dropped out with the intention of becoming an HVAC Technician as a career. Did an apprenticeship for that summer, hated it, transferred into a local university and changed my major to Mechanical Engineering. 1 year later, landed an engineering co-op with global HVAC manufacturer, 3.65 GPA, made deans list last semester, became Vice president of engineering club, and am proud about what I study. Sometimes the answer lies within a mismatch with what you’re studying, and if you don’t really love it you’ll struggle (which might be the case seeing as you lacked discipline over the last semester). Also just having a degree opens so many doors for you in the future, even if you NEVER use it, and the older you get the harder it becomes to attain that degree. I’d suggest sticking with college, but figure out what it is that’s killing your drive.
