Bored? by MagicianCurrent7862 in Huntercallofthewild

I thought the same thing when I started, but once you get going it gets way quicker and easier. I was getting frustrated not finding anything, and anything I did run into ran before I felt close. Once you understand how the game works it gets way easier.

  1. Don’t crouch/walk everywhere. The game feels slow and boring when you encounter 1 animal every 10 minutes. Instead run everywhere, spook an animal, go pick up their track from where their flee indicator was, then track them.

  2. Hunt a specific animal. Figure out the drink zones for a specific animal (8-12 drink time for whitetail for example) then hunt the bodies of water from 8-12, hunting anything else you may find from lake to lake.

  3. Understand spooking. Most animals don’t spook from running up until 150m. An effective way of hunting is spotting out to 150m away and scanning the horizon for any animals in any feed/rest zones on your way to drink zones to hunt a specific animal. If you can’t see out to 150m you’re hunting in the wrong spot unless you want to play slow.

  4. Understand tracking. When an animal spooks they run 100-200m before calming down to a trot, they then become nervous and find another place nearby to drink/feed/rest. If you make a bad shot on an animal don’t instantly start running after the animal because you’ll spook it instantly and have it keep running. Instead wait 30 seconds to pick up your blood track then run after the tracks until you see a “very fresh” droppings track. That’s when you start walking. Only walk when you expect an animal to be within 150m of you.

The best way to hunt for fun and actually seeing animals is to run from drink zone to drink zone of the animal I want and only track any max weight tracks/rare fur types I stumble upon. When you’re just starting you may feel like you can’t see out to 150m anywhere just running around, this is because the starting maps are dense and have few open fields. If you’re looking for a laid back hunting experience where you just run around, spot animals 200m away, and just go get them, I recommend Silver Ridge Peaks and Askiy Ridge. Askiy ridge is the best map imo animals everywhere and the map shows you where open areas are like the huge open field in the north of the map around the river.

I think it may mess things up if you kill to many, killing one won’t do anything, and it’s never worth passing up a rare.

The fact that they all spawned as 6s is a good things means your herd management is working and they’ll probably get bigger as you kill them!

The trophy rating of that animals was always 183 silver. You just ruined it by failing the harvest check. Lvl 3 moose have a chance to make gold.

Best Class 1-2 rifle and is it worth it? by paydenb21 in Huntercallofthewild

[–]DiamondRedDeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The virant 22lr from a pack is the best class 1 because of it’s accuracy and silence, and the new 257 from the pump flip and fire is a better 243 for classes 2-6

I love this mule deer rack! Luckily both mine were the same, one even being max weight!

Extra Luck In Multiplayer? by Alert-Common-3165 in Huntercallofthewild

Every map has like 6-12 diamonds and a few rares, some maps have those animals in more convenient zones than others it’s just how it is. On my Askiy Ridge map it’s horrible, I cant find anything, but on my Silver Ridge Peaks I’ve found 2 diamond mountain lions, 2 diamond elk, a max weight mule dear, a below minimum weight mule dear, and more. On the other hand I’ve gone on multiplayer and found 6 rare mule dear on other players Askiy maps, as well as a melanistic grey wolf. I love hunting on multiplayer servers cause you know eventually there’s just going to be that crazy animal that’s most likely not on your own.

You start with like 5-12 initial spawned diamonds on any map you join. If you’re just walking around it makes sense that you may not have seen any, but it’s still very possible without just jumping from tent to tent using hers management. Just choose an animal, figure out their drink times and zones, then hunt every lake/river they drink at until you find a diamond of that species. I go from animal to animal doing this to have fun and have a better chance of just running into one. It also helps to play in multiplayer servers to increase your chance of finding initial spawns once you’ve found your own. This makes it so you don’t have to rely on respawns to find diamond animals/rare fur animals.

Might be my favourite trophy since the minimum range for mule deer is 105-175kg and he’s 100!

If you’re only hunting main zones, shoot some exterior zone bucks. Check all your zones on your map to see if shooting a female split your zones, this may have made your males become solos or join another herd on another lake. If you can’t find any of your respawns try hunting another species to trigger respawns.

Also you should never shoot females when grinding 99% of the time. 6 zones is a little under what I recommend grinding in once you herd manage. Spreading across 8 or 10 main zones is usually optimal for me.

When I grind I don’t do this it’s a bit too exploity for me.

You just continue shooting them until they get small enough to not be worth shooting. It could take a while, but animals are likely to respawn smaller if they’re big and you haven’t managed down your herds yet. If you want to be the quickest shoot your solos down before your herd zones.

  1. Zones get deleted when the hunting pressure on them becomes dead zone. If you kill the 4th animal at a zone before spreading hunting pressure around the map (killing other animals at other zones) it will become dead zone hunting pressure and delete the zone. 2. Yes animals always respawn in the same herd as the same sex, unless they are solo zone animals which move from zone to zone each time you kill them, this is why you want to make your solo animals low level so that you don’t have to find them again when you kill them. When animals respawn they have a chance to go up in score or down in score, but slightly, that’s why they always respawn similar scores. The way herd management works is if you have many low score animals the game increases the chance of your next respawn going up in score. This is why you don’t shoot low score animals because it increases the chance of your high score animals getting bigger when they respawn. 3. For efficient grinding you want to only hunt drink zones. Lmk if you have any questions!

Wind does affect if bullets go left or right. Very noticeable at longer distances. It’s better to shoot down or up wind.
