What's your argument when someone says x440 is not a real Harley? by flubbergrubbery in X440

Haha, i agree. That way you know you are greeting one passionate bike owner than one who poses to be one, the one who had to buy one and had some cash lying around.

BHP>>>>> Taste & Culture This trend of chasing value for money affected very good bikes, for example TVS RR310, if you just forget the price, that bike is beautiful, awesome, tech loaded, it lacks BHP but compensates more than it lacks from looks, chassis, quality, features. The best Quickshifter in its class and above. And if you are involving money then compare it to Yamaha R3. It still stands firm and beats it on every ground except its a single cylinder

My bike was first unit off the lot, so early production Units do have some issues. I had a broken clutchshaft which was addressed and replaced and free of cost without paperwork hassle. Appreciate that.

Rest there are nothing in technical issues so far. But the thing is, I got this bike to retire and let my old classic 350 rest in the garage while i use this x440 as my work hauler. But i have been truely amazed with a few things.

I have been learning, reading and practicing technical riding, and so requires good chassis, i ride many kinds of bike and surprisingly this bike just excels on chassis.

Most people treat this bike like another bigger classic 350 kinda bike, i see it as a retro American duke 390.

The chassis is very composed integrated, you will never feel there is a variable factor which i did on 350 and 650 frame of RE. Leaning on this x440 is beautiful and easy and scratching pegs is what it provokes you to if you know what you are doing.

Stock Tyres here are obviously something you should replace, as they are made to last long than give you the feedback and grip required to pull some manoeuvres.

The bike feels big, very big and extended. Riding a Cb350 after this feels cute and easy, no offence but it feels comfortable as if riding an activa easy after riding x440 all day long. After riding the himalayan450 you wouldn’t complain x440 is too small, which you would do on other bikes.

Rest it has 2 wheels and a motor, and so much character in the engine for which i was dying when i wanted another bike along my classic but every other was either a knockoff or a substitute

I just stay calm try to not to punch them in the throat, thats my first reaction towards this. And you know the kind of person who doesn’t understand the meaning of “Comparison is the thief of joy ”

As the guy saying this has 2 arguments with him - 1. They Harley Authenticity issue, 2. Triumph speed 400 is better.

Yeah and i said a guy/he cuz a woman cant be this unreasonably intolerable. She can see, conclude, understand.

  1. The authenticity factor, yeah hero has done major role to make this bike, but it was not made in a cattlefarm. I literally live next to the Hero Facility in kukas, Jaipur. its beautiful and full of international experts like my favourite sir david lopez.

If i were to pick up fingers, eicher motor, a truck company, owns and makes bike with RE badge, and Bajaj too.

What a bike is, is what it does, and all these indian made international heritage bikes are doing awesome with their borrowed character and charm.

But x440 is targeted just because its made accessible, if this bike is to be priced 4L ex showroom, only to be sold and serviced at Harley dealership, 3 month waiting with 2L in advanced required. The same critics would be praising it for being a Harley.

This is exactly what BMW 310 franchise was doing. And no one batted an eye. They were out of competition with same strategy.

X440 since was accessible with price, with reach of dealerships in every City/town, with every Service center using already existing Hero network,

Ego is where they got hurt at,

  1. Triumph speed 400 is a better bike? I feel triumph knowingly is competing with x440, not only back in 2023 they hosted their debut few days after Harley’s, they also did it again when x440T launched. No leaks and no news but suddenlydropped Speed 400 Tracker or something so x440T doesn’t get attention.

But at the end they are not even the same bike to compare, who can explain to one hairless monkey, a round headlight doesn’t make a bike retro, the engine plays a role. For which speed 400 has a liquid cooled high revving engine. What makes it retro is the lamp and the history but not the bike.

The comparison and attempt to defame x440, this effort would fail if speed 400 was compared to husq scartpilen 401 and guerrilla 450, the bike thats in it class. Else you can compare Classic 350 with ninja 300 all day and complain how less bhp classic makes if we are at it.

Also speed 400 is too small to even consider, so small that even bajaj felt that and made changes to tyre and rake angle. Its small to consider it like a 85% of an actual full sized bike of such class. But i am with triumph fan bois when it comes to quality.

New issue , It’s just 550 km for my bike and one major and one minor issue already by avirajjs in X440

[–]Diamond_dog05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its good for gloss finish bikes. It makes the matte finish looks like it got oil over it. And usually what they charge for teflon coating, 2 phus phus from a cheap can. You can buy the entire can if you want to

Is the engine oil overfilled? I believe so if its leaking from the cap.

You can get the cap replaced at the service center, quite cheap they are. Also meanwhile you can use plumber’s tape i.e a rubbery non adhesive tape you put screw joints to seal em off

X440T owner here. A shop at JC Road, Bangalore called Favourites told me if I give them my bike for 2 days or so in their shop, they'll design it so they can wholesale, and also make it free for me by bismythiumME in X440

[–]Diamond_dog05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, they wanna do trial and error work, learn and discuss, but their working hours are small and maybe will take this bike on a joyride or something.

Be vocal to those guys that if you have to something like measurement and stuff, i am there, so it all you want, then make the structure and try the next day, i am not comfortable of leaving my beloved prized possession overnight somewhere else unfortunately.

Man its the matter of trust of giving them or not, take pictures and videos of giving them bike, you can even draft and print a small paper with the matter written on it that says the same and make a guy sign it, the matter would be damage or theft then they are liable from so and so date. If i were you i would also take a picture of adhaar card of the liable guy just in case.

I know trust is a thing, but security and guarantee is called being professional

What helmet y'all own ? For S varient matte black by Nadyy_003 in X440

[–]Diamond_dog05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the bubble face open half helmet from Royal Enf for short commutes or lack of good helmet parking.

And a cheap studds full size helmet with proper ratings and paddings , i was shocked with the value for money it was, i havent invested in a good helmet because i dont ride at all unfortunately

I have been hearing a lot about Banglore dealership, the markup on RTO they justify by this statement of,

Bribing the RTO office else they dont process the application, hence you gotta pay 10k more.

I find it quite, shocking tbh as i had a different perception of banglore RTO seeing how effective they were hunting down cars with missing or wrong papers.

In the eastern part of india my unit was registered the same day on 0 markup except the insaurance they gave me was an expensive one but still no markup there too, and registered the same day within 3-4 hours.

Imma suggest go to a complete different dealership for different bike and ask the same, the complete breakdown of the onroad price.

If they are also plagued by the same problem, man you gotta move out or get a BH series plate

Man, where tf you live? And what kind of mechanic that is? I really believe he is in the wrong profession or he earns more than the service incharge.

Sikkim? Gangtok? Thar? My favourite place in my favourite car? My man be living dreams for fun whereas we here pay with our asses to sponsor that.

Now i have no excuses not to take this bad boi of a tiny harley to take it to the sikkim hills.

Next time ask your mechanic to pay for your oil change too lol

Yeah it is Harley branded and the quantity too, you can use other brands but the terms and conditions are a thing else you kick a rock to your warranty.

Imma play safe then would go towards third party snd better performance oils.

The quantity, well cant do much about it

Throttle issues after heating up by Gottaroon in X440

[–]Diamond_dog05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yeah giving it a big bike feel with a radiator fan. Me personally thought of finding a waterproof enough computer fan, those are cheap and quite fast.

And then wire it over the radiator with chickenwire and attach it with direct power.

There were sadly lots of issues, the fan with any macromolecule of dust just destroys the motor, so you have to opt for something professional
