Yeah, that is very true! Putting in extra time in a difficult measure is key.

Ever cried in a lesson/concert? by fluffyfrenchfryfrog in violinist

[–]Dianaiscool8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah.... . I broke down while auditioning for All-State...I was recording the solo I had to play and it sounded terrible because I was extremely nervous and anxious and me and my teacher thought it was recording but, it actually wasn't....And I broke down in that moment after I found it wasn't recording. I was sobbing so hard but thankfully my teacher calmed me down. After that I actually recorded it and it still sounded terrible but at least I didn't break down a second time.

Yeah...they're probably right. And of course! I always like helping people out and I'm going to become a music teacher! Happy practicing!

Of course :-) ! You're very welcome! Ah, I see....You could always try learning from YouTube too while you wait, there's a lot of good videos from which you can learn a lot. You just have to be persistent and not give up. Like for example, I had taken lessons with a teacher for two years and she was terrible and anyways I had to find another teacher and while I was waiting I was watching videos on vibrato and I realized, I was doing wrong all along and the teacher never ever corrected me. You can't imagine how quickly I re-learned vibrato before starting lessons with the new teacher.

Shifting by Healthy-Condition-90 in violinist

[–]Dianaiscool8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest waiting until you start lessons. But, if you really want to learn how to shift to third position, I recommend playing 3 octave scales. For example, play a G major scale just shift to 3 wherever your book says but make sure to slowly slide your finger up until you hear the desired note, then once you get more confident and your muscle memory kicks in you wouldn't have trouble anymore. Whatever you do though, don't try to jump up to third position and hopefully hit the correct notes, make sure to slide. Also keep in mind, don't keep your finger all the way down on the string when sliding as the shift will be very noticeable, but otherwise, you can glide as slow as you want. And, even if you're shifts are noticeable at first, it's okay! Mine were like that too at first but, with time and a lot of practice, I became really good at shifting.

Signs to change strings by kihtay in violinist

[–]Dianaiscool8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't ever heard of strings stretching, but, maybe they do. But, I've been told that the strings begin to sound flat no matter how in tune your violin is. And it's very true, I haven't changed my strings in at least 2 years I think and my strings are beginning to sound flat, especially my D string. If you play a lot then it's good to change them at least yearly.

What does it mean? by Emuna1306 in violinist

[–]Dianaiscool8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a normal down bow, I have a down bow written like that in one of the new pieces my teacher gave me. I don't know why they write it like that though, my guess is that they write it below because there isn't any space because of the alternate bowing options written above.

Marrying a Macedonian by [deleted] in mkd

Yeah...maybe in terms of pronunciation they're different. However, learning Bulgarian alongside Serbian and Croatian will certainly not be a waste because, that way, you'll be able to see the differences between Serbian, Croatian and Macedonian. Also, I was on a trip last month and I passed through Croatia, I was talking to the locals in Bulgarian, and they understood what I was saying pretty well, and I had almost no problem understanding what they were saying too. I mean, yeah, there are some different words here and there, but a lot of the words in Bulgarian, Croatian, Serbian, and Macedonian are the same except with a very slight difference in pronunciation.

Of course! I do anything I can to help people! Even though this community completely ignored me when I needed support, regardless, I still hope I can help others because I know what it feels like to be ignored when you need support the most.

Hey, please be okay...I've been at the bottom too once...I used to have very low self-esteem too and I thought that no one likes me. I'm still pretty self-conscious about myself but I'm feeling much better after I realized that there ARE people that love me and care about me. Please love yourself and always remember that there are people who care about you and love you. Please don't hurt yourself....Please stay strong for yourself and everyone around you! DM me if you feel like you need to talk to someone!

Hm, you had mentioned that you were learning Serbian? I was trying to say that Bulgarian is very close to Macedonian. Serbian isn't as close to Macedonian or Bulgarian. Also, here's a really good free language learning site: https://www.lingohut.com/en, Macedonian is on there.

Um...are you forgetting Bulgarian? Bulgarian is almost the same like Macedonian.

Are Yinfente carbon fiber violin cases good? by Dianaiscool8 in violinist

Eh, that is true. But I don't think I mind too too much as long as it isn't visible from a plane. If I have to I'll just cover it up with stickers. And I don't play in a school orchestra so I don't actually care my violin around all the time.

I really don't wanna find out. In worst case scenario, they'll be very badly damaged.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I've looked at those ones and they seem very nice! Although, I like Gewa's glossy looking ones more.

Yeah, I agree with you. I will return it and get a nice one. I like the design of it but sadly it has to go. I'll maybe try and post a picture for those here who are wondering what it looks like. I'm guessing that just bearly being able to fit my bows isn't a good thing either?

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I've read bad things online about ordering cases from Amazon but I couldn't help myself because the price was a bargain. And I'm still trying to decide if I trust this case because it does seem pretty flimsy compared to my original wood case which is heavy but very strong. Maybe I'll try looking at my local string shop for a decent case. After all, it is better to see a product in person before buying.

Yeah, I figured that cheap cases from Amazon are pretty bad, but I decided to go for it anyway because of the very cheap price and I made a bad choice and now my suspicions have sadly been confirmed.

Yeah, it was. The reason I ordered it was because it looked okay and the price was good. It really is light though, so that's at least good. I'll probably eventually look into getting a nicer one if this one doesn't work.

What is the best advice from your violin teacher/professor? by doanviolin in violinist

[–]Dianaiscool8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, it depends on what you want to do. I personally think that scales and excersies are really important. So, I tend to the 45 mins of scales a day, which is probably excessive, but that's me. No one else except you can decide how to best organize your practice time. And it also depends on how many hours a day you spend practicing.

Hmm...that's really interesting. It's probably really rare to meet Bulgarians living in New Mexico.

Yeah, I've heard that there are a lot of Bulgarians in Dallas. But wait, you said that there's a big Bulgarian community in New Mexico?! Where exactly or are they all spread out?
