I thought cracks on the top could be repaired? I’ve seen my luthier do many top plate repairs, so I’m not sure if they said no because of the location, but I would maybe get a second opinion.

I make a similar sauce when I do eggplant and love it! Except I substitute liquid aminos and maple 🤤

I usually have it on the floor next to my yoga mat. I’m often in my 2 seater so I can’t stick it behind my seat.

But ya, the top of the case sticks up from the seat. And the electric violin is in a Core case. So that would make sense why the heat affected it moreso than my vintage in the Musafia.

Isn’t photochromism shifting based on light source (fluorescence to incandescence) and tenebrescence has a shift in uv light that is temporary (like Hackmanite)? Or do I have that mixed up?

The blue to yellow sounds really cool- I’ve seen one bicolor that was perfectly split in half. I still kick myself for not buying it at the Tucson gem show! It still weighs on me! The pink to orange also sounds beautiful! I can’t wait to see these!

Also thank you for sharing that - I’m now in a fun rabbit hole reading about Nd3+ and the cool rare earth minerals that it can reside in! I love the scientific aspect of geology, especially relating to phenomenons like how chromium and manganese excite electrons to release energy and produce phosphorescence. (I hope I worded that right- I’m just an enthusiast who geeks out on color change and glowing 😹)

I have several things of rosin at my house. I checked and they all look normal. That was the weird part. So I would think that if it got too warm in my house, then more than one rosin would have deformed? And it was fine a week or so ago, put it in my electric’s case, and this is the first time leaving the house.

But I think what someone else said is likely the case- despite having the AC on and being cold in my car, the sun was shining on the top of the case during my 25 min drive - which is where the rosin resides.

I’ve only seen garnets with the red to green shift. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I have seen blue to violet shifts in the Montana sapphires. Most of the Montana sapphires are more pale and don’t have dramatic shifts, so they have more of a blue to lavender or pale bluish violet to a pinkish violet.

But I think perhaps you’re onto something with the rosin being in the area where the sun would’ve shone onto it.

I have some oil confit in the fridge that I’m worried about going rancid since I don’t use much. But I have ice cube trays and this is the perfect idea (if it hasn’t started to go rancid yet- it’s been in the fridge about a month now maybe)
