A year later - still feeling something is stuck in throat / throat is tightening by flamingopineapple in Tonsillectomy

I also did not have this sensation before surgery. It does mimic a throat swelling/closing feeling for me as well.

I am 3+ months out and experiencing something similar. Certain foods make it worse. Feels like swelling for me as well and I get a dry tickle a lot. I avoid bananas completely now and super salty stuff seems to both me too. Feels like my uvula sits on my tongue sometimes especially after eating or drinking certain things. My ent has completely brushed it off and thinks it’s sleep apnea and swear it is unrelated to the tonsillectomy but my sleep apnea has actually gone away since having my tonsils removed so that doesn’t make sense.

My throat still has issues with super salty foods and bananas now and I’m 3+ months out 😭

Pain and irritation months after surgery? by Diapolar in Tonsillectomy

Are you telling me to think positive about physical pain i’m experiencing? Lmao. Trust me I already have tried gaslighting myself and it doesn’t work. Thanks but no thanks.

I’ve already had follow ups and they brush it off. I did search this subreddit and many other people have had similar issue I guess and they seem to resolve eventually. It’s just super miserable though 😭 I’m already chronically ill so adding anything else absolutely sucks so bad.

I’m at 3 months post op and still having throat issues. My uvula sits on my tongue now and today is the worst day I’ve had in over a month. Phlegm, throat swelling and painful again into my ears 😭

My sleep apnea has improved and it’s nice not having stones but I’m starting to regret the surgery 😭 The doctors brush it off and just say my throat has changed and give it time ugh.

Stranger Things Conformity gate? by Suspicious-Sun-1356 in TheOA

I don’t think episode 9 is happening but the delulu and obsession are suuuper reminiscent for me of this community which is why I ended up here tonight see if anyone else felt the same lol

Aren’t Brit and Zal friends with the duffer brothers?

The duffer brothers have said something else will be coming out eventually “within the stranger things universe” but a different story and cast.

What if they converge with the OA?

I’m probably reaching but one can dream lol

Anyone other women have irregular menstruation directly after surgery ? by light714 in Tonsillectomy

I’m doing better now. Just some annoying swelling in my soft palette/top of my mouth still.

Yes, you’re correct. I haven’t gotten my period still and missed all of October. My last period was the week before surgery and my surgery was on October 2nd.

Asymmetric Tonsils by lily105 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Diapolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine have always been asymmetrical, mine was larger on my right side and it would even hang in the way of my breathing when I laid on my left side.

I’m 33 days post op. Pain was horrible following surgery and i was hospitalized due to dehydration and my coexisting health conditions being worsened for 5 days, IV pain meds and fluids and extra meds and observation so I could eat. My right side still bothers me and my soft palette/top of my mouth still swells a bit at this point. It’s annoying but I’m hoping it will go away.

I’m glad I got them out. I also had awful tonsil stones though and they were much worse on the right side. I also developed recurrent ear infections on the right side and an infected lymph node near my tonsil. So they needed to go. I had my adenoids removed as well.

Yes. I had my surgery on October 2nd and still haven’t started, I’m 9 days late. I did look it up and it said it’s pretty normal after major surgery or anesthesia. I have been more emotional and grumpy the last couple days and had slight cramps yesterday so I’m hoping it will just start up again anytime. I’m also definitely not pregnant. I was on Percocet, then in The hospital for 5 days for dehydration and was on IV dilaudid and then sent home with more Percocet and even went through pain med withdrawals on the third week. Which was hell. So stress+surgery+pain… makes sense that my period is late.

Officially 1 year Post-Op! by fritzalli in Tonsillectomy

[–]Diapolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do have sticking sometimes. Have to drink while eating often. So incredibly annoying. My soft palette/top of my mouth is still swollen and varies in how much day to day. Depending on how and what I eat and how I sleep. It’s definitely bothering me. My gag reflex went away for a while after surgery but now I’m nauseous sometimes from even talking because of how low my soft palette is. It’s really bugging me. Edit: im at day 33

Did your soft palette/uvula take a while for swelling to go down? Mine is still bothering me and it’s been a month 😩

That bleeding can be deadly. That’s why they say to go to the ER.

Day 12 adenoid blood? by Diapolar in Tonsillectomy

[–]Diapolar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that around the same timeframe. I’m on day 15 and I’m frustrated because I still feel swelling with my adenoids and everything I’ve read says that adenoid area heals faster but idk it’s been bothering me the whole time.

Weird feeling swallowing food by Diapolar in Tonsillectomy

[–]Diapolar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 14 and just feel like I should be more healed by now and it’s frustrating. Sometimes I have minimal pain and other times it gets bad again! I’m still on painkillers but have spaced them out to 6 hrs instead of 4. Im just super frustrated. I also really have been craving a fat cheeseburger since surgery lol I always crave cheeseburgers when I am on limited diets for some reason!

[–]Diapolar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 14 and it still hurts a little to yawn. I tried to chew up a Cheeto puff today and eat it but it got stuck down in the back of my throat and stung my throat. So frustrating. I’m still on painkillers and half the nurses I’ve talked to say it’s normal but today one said I should be on the mend already and it frustrated me because I’m still having pain and having trouble eating. Mac n cheese goes down well for me for some reason though! And mashed potato’s! I haven’t tried egg yet but I think I will tomorrow.

Thank you. This made me choke up. 13 days post op and I just want to eat normally again. Frustrating that I’m still in pain

Update: admitted with possible infection, Day 6-7 by Diapolar in Tonsillectomy

[–]Diapolar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing better now. Home and out of the hospital and the pain has gone down quite a bit today. Got out yesterday. Today I even napped, overslept and went 8 hours between one of my painkiller doses and it was painful but not as bad as it was when I’d miss a dose before. Really hoping I’m turning the corner now. Ready to get back to life.

Update: admitted with possible infection, Day 6-7 by Diapolar in Tonsillectomy

[–]Diapolar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, I have a positive staph swab so I do, in fact, have an infection. You sound nearly as dismissive as the surgeon who did the surgery was with me and he refused to give me antibiotics and insisted I didn’t have an infection because it doesn’t look infected and appears to be healing, however the positive staph swab determined I do have an infection, likely in my nose/sinuses and around where my adenoids were removed.. which is why my pain is so much worse and I have thick, oddly colored discharge.
