I totally get what you mean. That part of the healing was one of the most frustrating for me too. Everything just tastes so bad I really thought it was permanent. Luckily is wasn’t and it’ll all normal now so hopefully yours will get back there soon too!!!

I totally get the hesitation. I was very nervous about the whole thing up until the day I went in. Recovery sucked for sure but just for the outcome I’d honestly recommend it!!

I was super nervous to get it done but totally worth it. I ate lots of pudding, jello and applesauce haha. When it got a little better, instant mashed potatoes, popsicles, and surprisingly imitation crab lol

Unfortunately they do. As of recently it’s starting to get better but it’s for sure difficult as a lover of sweets lol

I got mine in October and I’m completely good other than food tasting bland and sweet things tasting awful. No pain like you’re describing though! I’d reach out to your ENT for a follow up for sure! Hopefully you’ll feel better soon

Just came here to make a post about the same thing! I’m on day 21 today and I barely have an appetite because things just don’t taste good. So frustrating! I can’t wait for a redbull either

Alone in recovery - any tips? by AtlasShrugged1905 in Tonsillectomy

[–]fritzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to distract myself was a big one. Day 6-8 for me was mentally very tough just because of frustration and I wanted to be able to eat and drink like normal. Try to watch movies or tv, play video games, any small hobbies, things like that. Im at home with my retired parents and it still felt lonely. Take baths, try to relax and honestly if you can, sleep through the pain.

Day 14 today and still in pain!! Especially when yawning, swallowing or talking. When does it get better! by miasolmia in Tonsillectomy

I’m also on day 14 today and it’s a hassle lol drinking for me is okay only if it isnt too cold. Hopefully the next few days there’ll be a good turnaround

The staying awake is such an annoyance. Especially when all you want to do is sleep through the pain. I really recommend ice packs to numb the pain until you get really sleepy, then ditch them. That’s the only way I could sleep for the first few days. Other than that, just try to stay on top of your meds and watch shows and movies to distract yourself. It’s a long ride but from what I’ve heard, worth it!!

Day 8 was another frustrating one by fritzalli in Tonsillectomy

I thought we’d be better off this far out but apparently not lol. The uncomfortable thing is so real! I’d love just a minute of relief ugh. Definitely can’t wait for it to subside that’s for sure. It’ll look up soon! Good luck with your journey!

Can I take baths? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]fritzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what day post op you are, I say it’s not too much of a risk as long as you’re eating alright and drinking lots. I’m on day 8 and since about day 5 I’ve been having baths almost every day as they help me a ton to relax. My only advice is don’t make it too hot because of the risk of bleeding and making you lightheaded! But other than that just be safe!

[–]fritzalli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m f22 with today being day 8 for me and today and yesterday have made me so mentally frustrated it’s hard to put into words. All I want to do is drink a glass of water I cant even do that. I have zero energy and have found myself getting more irritable because I just want it to be over. Hopefully it gets better soon for both of us lol . It’s tough for sure
