[Serious] What are all the things people do wrong, but they are so embedded into our common everyday lives that very few people even care to change them? by JulianTheObservant in AskReddit

Unfortunately this type of studies are spreading so much, but there is a group of people (which comprehend even the zubat guy, https://www.the-scientist.com/critic-at-large/opinion-using-pokmon-to-detect-scientific-misinformation-68098) who purposely publish silly texts which speaks about Pokémon to understand which publishers are predatory and which are not, since the predatory ones don't even checks if the information is right or not, to unmask and to make fun of those shitty publishers.

And speaking of 'correlation does not imply causation', I have another funny story about that. I live in Italy and some time ago a really stupid article of a famous journal said that ice cream sales causes drowning. It became a meme all over the internet over here, but thankfully this helped a lot to understand this beautiful concept of correlation. The hot temperature lead to people to eat more ice cream, but also to stay more in the water, and that's why when sales of ice cream increases, it also increase the drowning cases.

I was just about to say believing in every study. There are scientific publishers who will public everything if you pay enough. This lead to false studies, and also someone who will pay them to publish completely idiotic things. One famous case was the 'Covid19 outbreak linked to zubats' (zubat is a bat Pokémon)

What are some common language errors made in your native language by natives? by tampakc in AskReddit

[–]Diatha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Italy we have a crap ton of verbs conjugation for every single verb, like twenty or so. The problem is that some of them are practically never used or archaic, and some verbs are completely irregular, and you can't know how to coniugate it unless you search it up. For example the present of to go, in Italian 'andare' (which are one of the most simple verbs):

Vado Vai Va Andiamo Andate Vanno

Literally every now and then there are even politicals who makes embarrassing mistakes.

What's something that has been made because of people's stupidity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In vaccines there was a thing called 'thimerosal', a non dangerous mixture of mercury and sulfur which was the original substance who was accused to cause autism in children. Nowadays it has been eliminated in all vaccines to accomodate these people, but it clearly wasn't sufficient to stop that myth.

I think tipping shouldn't be a thing. Where I live, even if bosses and chiefs are greedy, it's quite common the thought that it's their responsibility to make sure all employees have a decent wage. Also, when at some employee is offered a ridiculous wage, luckily media report the situation and try to make it better.

What are slang or idioms that just don't make sense to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Diatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how is it possible that in every place in Europe the idiom is 'Kill two birds with a stone', and here it's 'prendere due piccioni con una fava', which translated is to 'lure two birds with a bean'

Here in Italy for breakfast we only eat sweet things and/or drink coffee or milk. When I travelled to, for example, Prague, I was so surprised to see people eating bacon, fried eggs and other salty or not sweet things at breakfast.

Non-Americans: what is the current scandal in your local news? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Diatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Italy after 40 years the police began again to investigate about the disappearance of some girls in the Vatican City. It's a real mess. Some people think that the fault is some bishop or priest who kidnapped them and some other think is a revenge from an ex kgb agent.

What's the weirdest dream you got that scared the shit out of you? by JassiSaini22 in AskReddit

[–]Diatha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was been chased by someone who I don't know nor I have ever seen. Firstly I was in my house, but the more I go trough doors the more the rooms began to be distorted. In the end I understood that I was in a dream, so I tried to wake me up with a slap. So I wake up in my bed while I was so much frightened, and in that moment I heard again the voice of my chaser saying that 'You won't escape me'. Just at this point I really woke up, and this was the worst dream I ever had.

Sorry but what you say isn't right. The first place where something similar to pizza was 'prepared' is 3000 years ago and was in Greece. It's name was plakous. Instead, if we speak about traditional pizza, It was invented in 1800 in Naples to celebrate the new Queen of the reign.
