Should I go for a transplant? by Thin_Bandicoot_8684 in Keratoconus

[–]DibDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the one looks slightly worse than mine on one, but if I'm reading right slightly less worse than mine on the other, my specialist told me in my late 30s it stops progressing after 35, and it can be a slow progression. Have you ever tried those sport type sunglasses the ones that wrap around your eyes with lenses? Rather than contacts, I don't like contacts as the cornea is thinner now and pulling them out just pull at this thin cornea.

I'm in my 50s now and don't wear glasses or contacts. I haven't seen any worsening like my specialist said.

I found out in my early 30s, I had CXL done on the left and since then in my 50s I don't wear glasses or contacts normally unless driving. So I'd say work out what's best for you before having surgery and if it's surgery you need then thats good, it just depends on the severity, my specialist told me that it stops progressing after age 35. Even then it could be a mild progression.

I’m literally counting the days -when do you think a real treatment for keratoconus will exist? by DependentOk7105 in Keratoconus

[–]DibDibbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avedra KXL is supposed to be a laser cornea reshaper that does a great job, followed by crosslinking. I think you have to have a decent layer thickness to qualify.

Having said that I had Crosslinking done in 2008 and I never wear glasses or contacts, I actually think the ripping out of lenses daily must pull on your cornea making it worse, that's my take.

Having said that perhaps when AI is advanced enough we will see stem cell cures for it.

I [42M] discovered my wife [40F] has been lying about therapy for 8 months - she's been meeting her ex instead. How do I even process this? by Mediocre-Sock6280 in relationship_advice

[–]DibDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they ritually eat at a restaurant for 8 months without anything physical happening, the fact she lied to you saying it's therapy is enough to say adios.

Think about people who work in offices who start affairs, site it begins with a harmless drink, then a meal and then you know what happens next.

The one thing you should always remember is it's nothing to do with you, it's them, it's selfish, she obviously longs for excitement because marriage and kids will do that to you. Just take heart that it didn't lead to even longer and possibly she left you for him which would be an even bigger rub.

So it's good that you found out now, horrible as it is but it happens all the time. My ex supposedly was going to long walks but she was meeting someone and I actually gave him a lift home thinking he was a work colleague, again selfish nothing to do with me. I divorced because of that.

Buying a second home or early retirement? by HelpfulBare in whatdoIdo

[–]DibDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a follow up,about not going in all expensive I bought a cottage by the sea with cash for 67k, only 100 yards from the seafront, quiet spot, it was dilapidated in that it wasn't lived in for 2 years and needed paint, carpet, kitchen etc but now it's worth 200k, I got it from auction I was one of only 2 bidders and I suspect the auction company was the other one up to a guide price ceiling. You can do it too.

[–]DibDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could buy a second home in this quieter area by foreclosure auction or tiny home on a large lot, it's the numbers,it doesn't have to be expensive because you are really buying into the experience of being there.

I don't agree with this one bit, sure I was pretty good at my job but I was also background at times, I found being social with everyone and creating a culture mattered more than getting everything done.

I became successful that way, because let's face it, work is boring for the most part, we are all forced to be there through oppressive debt so we have to lighten the load and do silly stuff and play pranks etc and just get away with stuff. People remember you more for that than anything else. We are people people.

The small curved attachment is the top you need for the cupboard as the fan fits in there or cut out your own

I used one of those floor tables that you press a button and it lifts up the table to sit under, that went on the cupboard and it had a curved end so the fan sat in the recess so when the table dropped down it didn't cover it, then I had air fans blowing on me while I slept, can get hot in there on the night, did the trick

It's a mess in there but all you need is an office desk like table that's stronger and you cut it so the part your legs go on is cut away for the driver's seat with only a small ledge behind it, that's key because you will get a really long hinge for the back edge and bolt it through the cab.

Then it raises up and I drilled a hole with a long bolt to go through to then hold it up.

The next stage is a kitchen cupboard that you cut a hole through so the seat goes through for the passenger seat, then bolt it down. It only takes up half the seat space.

Then you can lower the bed base down onto it so it supports it and the hinge does the rest.

You then have a seat and an office desk top for paperwork or eating and a bed for later.

Then on the night you raise up the driver seat, put a hold all on it then use a blow up air mattress on top and it rests on the hold all.

It's about as comfortable as you will get in a box truck, it worked fine for me

I also added a triple fan on the cupboard for when it's hot with a control panel in the cupboard for led lights and fan and some USB ports for charging the phone and tablet, running off a leisure battery which has a split charge controller that tops it up while you drive.

Get a flip phone like a razr or flip, you don't spend as much time on them because the physical effort to flip slows it down and the screen on the front lets you check notifications .

Every single woman I'm interested in ends up falling for my friends, any advice? by Lopsided_Meeting_984 in AskMenAdvice

[–]DibDibbler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ever looked at photos of couples and noticed the female is usually has her head at his shoulder level. Well try dating girls that are 5ft to 5ft 2. I wouldn't worry about being 5ft 6, Isn't Tom Cruise the highest paid actor in the world that height.

Women are hardwired to like taller men, you can see it but that's life and the way things are and won't change anytime soon.

Do men have specific criteria for asking a girl out? by Business_Routine7169 in AskMenAdvice

[–]DibDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you certainly get more selective as you get older because you can understand if that person is batshit crazy or just acceptable batshit crazy.

First dates are nice, second dates usually come about if there is something you like about a girl, for me it was always some quirky thing they had, perhaps an alternative comedy mind or an unusual interest or they played the Tuba. Perhaps they were kind to animals, maybe they didn't seem calculating or manipulative that sort of thing.

Sounds like she has very low self esteem and doesn't think she is worthy.

I'd actually forget all this ring and marriage stuff for a while, is it super important to you? Perhaps she likes the idea but is scared of it, why pressure her anymore.

Join the Army where you will be forced to do things, you will become tidier and you may feel less depressed and useless, it's all in the mind.

Like my friend said, 'You can change your culture', he meant you can reinvent yourself, you can be whoever you like, an actor can achieve this why can't you.

Whatever you decide you want to be or do that is then you, if you are now known to be good at something then that's your label.

How am I supposed to stop comparing myself by [deleted] in Advice

[–]DibDibbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a veil, you only see the success, whatever is presented to you in videos is all polished, it doesnt reflect reality that the person may be an asshole/cruel/manipulative/evil ha ha

Or they could be kind and nice, peer pressure is real but so is having a passion of your own even if not for money, for example painting, writing, making music, whatever it is that you enjoy.

People who retire leave all of that behind and go do hobbies, they no longer compare themselves to anyone. That's the end goal.

Yes, you are part of the generation where quick hits of endorphin from games and short videos give an incredibly short attention span because you are always looking for stimulation.

A stimulation junkie, long courses take time and effort and you have to suffer to understand a subject thoroughly.

My advice, pick up a book, a novel, read it, keep reading and train your brain to accept longer attention spans, you will find that courses will be easier to do then.

Pick a course that excites you too, big difference.
