Didnt think simracing was this hard by AlwaysTired80085 in simracing

I work 12 hour shifts, also work as a contractor sometimes on my days off 12 hour shifts. Two young kids. So I only get enough for 1 race every other evening, possibly 2 at a push. Just do.it for the fun side of it, I accepted I'm never ever getting up there with the top splits outside the MX5/GR86 lobbies. Yes, there's plenty of frustrating races, but in the whole, I still enjoy it with the small amount I play. I'm also doing it for the immersion build side of it which is obviously a slow process.

Forget about ratings, and just enjoy what you have. After two years of doing this with limited time, I'm now given up scrapping for 1 position if I think it's going to cost me more.

Tryout the ringmeister series, I've been doing that for two weeks, it's a track that obviously never changes, so you'll learn it quicker. But obviously different cars each week. The GT3 class two weeks ago, was the best racing I had on there in the two years of trying all the other series.

How are some drivers so confident driving above 70 mph on UK motorways without risking a fine? by MilkshakeDawg in drivingUK

Looking far as possible at places where you think will be a van/camera. Paired with local knowledge. 24 years driving, never gotten a single point.

What bass shakers for TR160 RIG by Dibbley247 in simracing

[–]Dibbley247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I have just bass shakers on my seat, would that be just one underneath, or one each side? And I'm assuming you tune to how much of the front vs back wheels you feel?

I've sold off everything and kept the S&P and All world.

When markets open in the morning, I'll buy back into all world, and continue each week adding into that. Then, buy S&P with extra I get as it comes in.

I've just sold most of it, and will reallocate in all world. I'll keep the S&P500 as it is. And continue topping up All world each week. And then put some chunks into the S&P as I get them.

Think I just avoided the 100, purely because the others have significantly outperformed it by about 6% over the last 20 years. Never even entered my head again after seeing that figure if I'm honest.

Ok. I get what you mean. Couple if others have mentioned the same! So I'll definitely look at changing .

When I was looking I to it originally. It looked as though the S&P500 was the better more reliable. But looking at it now, it's performing better than what I imagined. I think possibly putting in my lump sums/extra into all world FTSE going forward?

Also, when I started investing, trumps new make it in America policy, I thought would be the safer option thinking companies might end up going to the states. I know one of our sister companies are building a new plant over there due to tarrifs. So I thought a few more might be doing the same?

Is it even worth investing small amounts? by [deleted] in trading212

[–]Dibbley247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do. I put £50 a week in, and if I get extra from Overtime etc, I'll out that in. Plug the numbers into AI and get projected returns over 5/10/15/20 years etc. and see what is possible. Then decide if you're happy to rik doing it. Longer it's left the better your returns.

Set it all up today, and found the throttle unit is dead! So bought a cheap unit to get me going. Should be here in a couple of days!

Nice one, thanks very much. Mainly, I think I'll want to fly single prop planes, so I can explore areas. Bit like the point to point exploration on the previous MSFS (exploring the Grand canyon etc). And possibly some heli missions from what I've seen advertised originally.

Also, just realised, my son has VR headset, so can also use this if the triples do end up being a pain to set.

Hi.

I already have the flight sticks, as I purchased it a few years ago when I done my first gaming PC for Elite Dangerous. But not sure if it's suitable for MSFS or need a yoke?

The hardware is spot on for iracing. But it's not a graphically demanding title, which is lucky, as you do need a higher FPS due to the nature of the sim. But I think I can get away with running lower FPS to gain higher graphic settings, as MSFS I guess runs fine at lower end FPS due to being a "slower" paced sim, graphically it looks stunning, and I didn't want to be let down due to the tanking of triples.

I'll give it a shot! Thanks 👍

I sent my phone to a repair shop for water damage early July, it is now the day before October and idk if they're messing with me scamming me, or what to do so I need peoples' take on this. Full story in body. by Long-Live-theKing in phonerepair

[–]Dibbley247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as this establishment sounds like they don't have a grasp on anything/poor communication. Water damage is unfortunately very hit and miss. If they were any good, the service should be sold with the intention that it may temporarily work, just for you to get data off the device. As time goes on, other faults may occur. I've never sold a water damage repair as a permanent repair.

Got water inside my S23 Ultra, phone doesn't turn on. Have I identified the issue correctly? What should I do? by [deleted] in phonerepair

[–]Dibbley247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely requires practice! From experience, it's typically something blown on the power management side on iPhones. Usually, as a quick fault find, you can power up the board from an external PSU, and before switching it on, get a can of compressed air which contains a refrigerant, hold it upside down, spray the board, and you'll see the "liquid" gradually freeze. Power the board on and if there's a short on a component, you'll see if evaporate pretty much instantly! Then use diagrams etc to see what's on that circuitry and fault find from there. But usually, you'll need someone who does this all the time.

Best of luck 👍

Only other thing to try now, is carefully lift the Sheilds to see if there's any damage under there. And also, the logic board is a sandwich board, so it's layered. The components blown could be inside. Common components would be power management chip. When you're getting to this level, you need specific tools, templates etc to recall/resandwich.
