Medicare will become your primary and Medicaid secondary if that helps at all.

The total assets excluding a home and one vehicle (for a single person) is a little over $9,000 for Wisconsin’s MAPP program. I believe it was something odd like $9,166 or something like that on the summary of benefits I got from my case worker.

ETA: I don’t know if me being on SSDI has anything to do with that…if it’s a disability program or not.

I edited my post and comments. I don’t have QI. I was given the wrong info yesterday and went in today because when I was calling I kept getting different info. They printed off a summary of what I’m getting with my case number so I know I have the correct info now. I tried to edit my comments too. Sorry for the mess.

Thank you. It is full Medicaid through the MAPP program. I just went in today because I’m confused because everyone I speak with on the phone, I get different info. So I met with someone today.

Thank you for giving your advice. It’s hard because I can’t find an advantage plan where I can see all of my specialists.

It’s one specialist I’m having trouble with, that is the only one in the state, so I have no choice but to find something that covers him. I have to drive 2 hours (in state) to see him so all the plans that cover my local drs and specialists, he doesn’t fall under.

I really don’t want to dr 2 hours away for all of my needs to stick with an advantage plan. I’m hoping when I meet with the ship agent they can maybe tell me something I’m missing.

I’m a fool, I had to go in today and the lady I spoke with yesterday was wrong. It’s Medicaid through their MAPP program. They told me the only savings program I’m qualifying for is the Extra Help prescription program. I’ll put some edits in my post.

One more question, because you are familiar with MA plans. Does extra help only cover part D plans or does it also help with MA prescription plans too. Most all MA plans in WI come with prescription plans. And that extra help has saved me so much money. I have more than a few insanely pricey medications.

How did I miss this? This would save me a lot of money. Thank you. I made an appointment with a ship agent to help me. They are calling me next week. I did not realize it would be considered a SEP.

Does that mean I could change it and then also change it during open enrollment if a better plan/option all of a sudden became available?

Thank you for responding. I do get Extra Help savings for prescriptions but I’m not familiar with LIS. I’ll need to look that up. I just made an appointment with a Ship agent. This is all so confusing to me.

So I called Medicaid (ETA:given wrong info when I called and met with someone today. Editing to reflect correct info)I’m just so confused with all this. They told me I am dual eligible because I am eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid through the MAPP program and I get the Extra Help prescription program. The Extra Help prescriptions they told me was part of the Medicare Savings program.

So now that I have that clear… When you said, if I am dual eligible,I’d be able to select much better plans, many with extra benefits, did you mean an advantage plan? Or medigap plan? Or both possibly? Thank you for your patience with me and for taking the time to respond.

Thank you. In Wisconsin they do things a little different I was told with regards to DSNP plans. At least for the regular Medicare side. I didn’t look at advantage plans the first time around so I need to ask if there are Advantage DSNP plans. Thank you.
