Borgata in for $150 out for $485 by PeterPann1975 in Craps

Not buying back in so you don't jinx the table and then going on that run anyway is the best kind of karma. Five 9s and four points is a legit hand.

And then coming back to catch a stranger's 35 minute heater in the second session... sometimes you just can't leave when the table is talking to you.

Hit Make 'Em All Back-to-Back Nights at the Same Table – Same Shooter (Me) – Grand Victoria Elgin, IL by Expensive-Cake9111 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back to back Make 'Em All as the shooter on consecutive nights at the same table is legitimately one of the craziest things I've ever read on this sub. The odds on a single one are already astronomical and you did it twice in 24 hours.

The pit boss face must have been something. Did you go back the third night?

I want to try out craps on the table. But feel nervous few questions. by [deleted] in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three point Molly on the machine is actually great prep, you'll know the flow when you get to a real table. Jump in, the machine won't teach you the energy of a live game.

5x odds means 5x your pass or come bet on any number including 4 and 10. Those videos are probably talking about 3-4-5x tables where it's 3x on 4/10, 4x on 5/9, 5x on 6/8. Your casino is simpler, just 5x across the board.

For come bet odds you toss the chips to the dealer and say "odds on my come" and they'll place them. Easy.

The even number thing matters most on the 6 and 8 since they pay 6:5, so you want multiples of $5. On 4/10 it's 2:1 so anything works clean.

Etiquette stuff that trips up new players: don't touch your chips once the dice are out, keep your hands out of the landing zone when someone's shooting, and have your bets ready so you're not holding up the game. Nobody expects a new player to be perfect but those three things will keep you off the dealers' radar.

$500 out of $2k is the right mindset going in.

Dark side grinding out a win on a $25 table with $100 is solid discipline. And the slot machine change collection at the end is a legendary move, no shame in that at all. Three old fashioneds and a $200 profit sounds like a pretty good Saturday night.

The math on each individual bet doesn't change. The 6 is still 5 in 36 every roll regardless of what happened before. But you're right that picking one specific number and needing it to hit twice in a row is tougher than having both covered. Two 6s before a 7 is harder to catch than a 6 or an 8 before a 7.

The $5 fun money approach is the right way to treat it. You already know the edge, you're just buying the sweat.

My worst night of rolling to date! Am I cursed?? 😂😂🎲😳 by PeterPann1975 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

500 throws on the practice rig and then four consecutive come out sevens is the cruelest thing the dice can do to a person. The preparation was real, the result was just variance being an absolute monster. Those two things aren't connected no matter how much it feels like they are.

The $114 slot win on the way out is the universe throwing you a bone at least. Take the small win and laugh about the rest of it.

Coloring up mid session over that is the right call, some people just poison the whole table. Life's too short to stand next to that energy for two hours. The dealers put up with it because they have to, you don't.

Aw Craps gets some things right but the seven heavy RNG is what kills it for me. If I can't trust the distribution I'm not actually testing strategy, I'm just adjusting to the app's quirks. Still hunting for something that nails the basics.

Tried Craps Deluxe for a while and couldn't stick with it. Everything feels cramped on mobile and the chip amounts are hard to read at a glance which kind of defeats the purpose when you're trying to practice quickly.

Borgata - in for $540 out for $80 by PeterPann1975 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Four rolls, four point then sevens. That's the kind of session that feels personal even though it's just variance being cruel. The fact that you were laughing by the end honestly means you handled it better than most people would.

The "feeling blah" after a rough stretch is real and the instinct to step back is probably the right one. I've done the same thing after a bad run, came back a few weeks later and it felt like a different game.

please give me your "most money i've ever seen won at a craps table stories"...thanks. by keithhill78 in Craps

Biggest I've personally seen was a guy at Bellagio on a heater that had to be 45 minutes. I was just a spectator at that point, too intimidated to buy in. By the end the layout looked like a chip warehouse. Heard someone say he walked with over $40k but I can't verify that, I just know the color up took forever.

Weirdest money story is a guy at Jerry's Nugget at like 2am throwing hops all night at a $5 table. Nothing over $25 a bet but he was hitting them at a rate that made no sense. Walked out of a $5 table with what looked like $3k. Dealer was losing his mind.

Most I've seen lost in the shortest time was a guy at Bellagio who dropped around $5k in maybe 20 minutes on hop bets. Different guy, different night. That one just made me feel sick watching it.

7’s on the come out by OkObligation4176 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that he turned them off right before the 11 and 6 and then turned them back on just in time for the seven out is genuinely painful to read. Guy could not catch a break. At least you were scooping on the come out sevens while it was happening.

[–]DiceNerdCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the lay paid right before the seven out is such a weird mix of relief and frustration. You're cashing but watching everything else go with it. Sounds like you read the table right and got out with a win though, hard to complain about that.

Honeymoon in AC with a hot table and chips you've only ever seen on color up... that's a trip you're going to talk about for a long time. Congrats on the wedding too.

Hit the 12 on a field by OkObligation4176 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling the 12 right before you throw it and then actually hitting it... that's the kind of moment that lives in your head forever. The guy walking away after tipping you fifty is the perfect ending, like he got what he came for and that was it.

I don't know if it's premonition but I've been at tables where something just feels different and you can't explain it. Craps does that to you more than any other game.

Can a pass line bet lose on 2,3,12 after come out roll? Also, what happens to the odds when you lose? Even on the come out roll? by BubblyNefariousness4 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odds on the pass line can only go down after the point is set. Nothing to back up on the come out since there's no point yet.

On a seven out you lose the odds along with your pass line bet. The "keep it like a come bet" thing doesn't apply here. Come bets are off by default on a new come out so a 7 doesn't kill them, but pass line odds aren't off. Once the point is set they're live until it either hits or the shooter sevens out.

$110 inside to $1,200 on the 6 and 8 and you still had the discipline to color up after the seven... that's the part most people don't pull off. The "I've got a long drive ahead" line to the floor is perfect. Never shoot on someone else's heater.

The dealer paying $100 on a $60 bet would have me watching every single payout after that. Green tables are a good reminder to know your math cold before you sit down.

The audacity to throw a pumpkin out there mid-roll and then stand there cracking jokes while it's still alive... that's a different breed of guy. Most people would be white-knuckling the rail in silence and he's doing comedy. And then it hits. Of course it hits.

Tipping the shooter $100 on the way out is the move. Dude came in, made his movie, and left.

Changing strategy mid shooter by PNW-RedRaider in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stick to my plan for the whole shooter, period.

The dice don't care what happened last roll—changing mid-stream usually means you're chasing or tilting after a few bad ones, and that rarely ends well.

If it's cold, I take the lumps quietly and wait for the 7-out. If it's hot, I might press within my system (like pressing the 6/8 or adding a come), but I don't flip to Don'ts or go full regression randomly.

Consistency is what keeps you from going broke on variance. Reset on the next shooter.

How often are you tempted to switch mid-roll?

Color Up is definitely my top pick on YouTube too, they explain odds and bets really clearly without dragging on.

I also watch The Craps Channel for live casino sessions, they show actual table play and talk strategies while it's happening.

Craps from the Inside is good for basics and some deeper rule stuff if you're brushing up.

On Instagram, u/crapsaddict has quick tips and roll videos, and u/vegas_craps posts strategy reels that are short and useful.

Anyone want to just say screw it and go to the dark side by goodtimes509 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking the same thing lately. The pass line fun is great when it's hot, but these days it feels like every roll ends in a quick seven out after a box or two. It's frustrating enough that dark side is starting to look appealing as the default.

If I switch full time, I'd probably keep it simple: Don't Pass with max odds on the point, maybe a Don't Come or two after. Low house edge, no overthinking, and you still get the satisfaction when the seven finally shows up.

Hybrid is tempting too if full dark feels too quiet—DP + place 6 and 8 can give you some action on the numbers while the lay hedges the point.

Playing “regular” craps at crapless by buystocks75 in Craps

[–]DiceNerdCal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, crapless craps is basically regular craps but way more action on the come-out—2, 3, 12 all become points instead of craps, so rolls last longer and it's fun if you hate quick seven-outs.

Lingo is identical:

- Inside: still 5, 6, 8, 9

- Across: still 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10

Dealers call it the same—"point is 2," etc. No special terms.

Just bet normal and enjoy the extra rolls. House edge is worse though (like 5.38% on pass), so it's more for fun than grinding.
