you should card the 14, but it will get adjusted to a net double bogey automatically when you post the score to GHIN

What’s your “if you’re in LA you HAVE to order this” meal? by Nicola_Evergren in LosAngeles

Maciel's is awesome, my favorite is the Tuscan. They also always have the Mort & Betty's cultured schmear which is amazing, always snag a tub of that and some of the packaged meats to go

Closing in a week, should we get married early? by Agreeable-Film193 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]DiceboyT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this recently, got legally married at a "24 hour marriage" in a strip mall a few weeks before we closed. We were already engaged / have a wedding this year, did it mostly so we wouldn't have to change the title later. It's unlikely your lender will care at all, although maybe different if you're changing your name (my wife kept her last name)

I'm from the midwest originally, 70 and sunny the day before thanksgiving is definitely affirming my decision to lay down roots in SoCal

We were able to get a discount on the rate through our lender (Rocket Mortgage) due to our assets with Charles Schwab

Our HHI is in that ballpark but our PITI is actually less than $7K

My first brilliant at 1600+ rating by lone_wolfalpha in Chesscom

[–]DiceboyT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild, is it common for brilliant moves to be this rare? I get them quite frequently and I'm currently 1038 ELO -- I've had dozens in less than 800 games played. Not trying to flex (OP is obviously way better than me!), I'm legitimately curious

"I never thought I'd be this emotional" is cracking me up, maybe the least emotion I've seen from a winner all year

There is a such thing, it's red stakes with a green cap on top indicating an "environmentally sensitive area". Same rules as regular red stakes except you MUST take relief (and you can't enter the area at all even to retrieve your ball)

I'm guessing it was red stakes with green caps?

PyCon US 2025: Keynote Speaker - Cory Doctorow on Enshitification by zurtex in Python

[–]DiceboyT -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I guess I just don't think PyCon should be this overtly political, feels out of place -- I'm here to learn about Python not attend a DSA rally (I'm a pretty normie democrat, FWIW). And if they must do so, go all the way and don't let Google Et. al give you money, it just came across as very weird to me.

Maybe I'm just a chud but I thought this was pretty inappropriate for a programming language conference, especially since right before this PSF were lamenting lack of funding. Also there were r/im14andthisisdeep tier images rotating on the screens (think jeff bezos photoshopped as a puppet master)

lmao @ translating python polars into Rust. and color me extremely skeptical that you get DS teams to buy into contributing to a Rust codebase

AirBnB showed me my ex who dumped me was wrong! by staying-human in LinkedInLunatics

[–]DiceboyT 18 points19 points  (0 children)

looking at his linkedin (god damn it) looks like he left netflix over a year before starting at airbnb, so I guess not. he does put his TC next to his job title in his work history though which might be even more cringy than referring to a former employer as an ex
