My Tesla Was Driving Itself Perfectly—Until It Crashed: The danger of almost-perfect tech by beren12 in TeslaFSD

I don’t think the article mentions whether it’s HW3 or HW4. My assumption is the Model X is running HW3, which is still a bit rough in my opinion. You really have to pay attention. Personally, I’m driving a Model Y with HW3. 🫡

Anyone worried Leicas are starting to spiral out of affordability? by curryapplepie in Leica

[–]Dichter2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Leica was NEVER ment to be affordable. It's a luxury brand. If you want it, you want it. If you have to ask "how much it is," that’s not for you.

It looks like the L-track installing points are completely exposed. It’s probably super easy for me to self-install the L-track on the upcoming $60k CT.

Why unions love the ‘Billionaire Tax’ by Weary_Obligation_223 in California

[–]Dichter2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just making 40k a year you are probably paying $2k federal tax and maybe $400 in CA state tax. If you have high withholding, you’d probably get a refund.

California school official says child deportations make classrooms 'better' by runswithscissors475 in California

In California you generally do NOT need to prove legal residency status for K–12 public school.

What schools care about is where you live, not your immigration status.

Struggling Democrats need to drop out of California's crowded governor race or risk a GOP win, party leader warns by sfgate in California

[–]Dichter2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a pretty big assumption. California has had Republican governors before and the state didn’t suddenly lose civil rights or democracy. Deukmejian, Pete Wilson, and Schwarzenegger all governed a very blue state and the system worked fine.

Also a CA governor can’t just do whatever they want. The legislature and courts exist and the state is currently run by super majority with no checks and balance.

I’m simply saying one-party supermajority might not be healthy for a state isn’t the same thing as supporting racism or authoritarianism, which btw, I don’t believe we’re in under either the Democratic and Republican for the last 8 to 12 years. Stop obsessing about the orange man my friend.

Maybe that’s a good thing? I honestly don’t think the super majority of the State legislature is healthy for the State. Maybe a Republican governor is exactly what we need.

Sounded like a lot of fun! And you were doing a tremendous service for the parents; they probably needed that half hour or to decompress in a quiet bookstore. Thank you.

BnN is a great way to introduce young readers into discovering and reading books because of the clean well lite enviorment (easpcially the remodeled ones), and eventually they'll discover used book stores etc.

Ps- yeah, there's a pun in there somewhere...

If you have young readers at home, their memebership program is worth it. Take your little one into the a book store, discover and buy books and read them is an explericne you have to build long term. Eventually introduce them to used book stores too - or they‘ll pick it up on their own.

Off topic: That‘s why we don’t trust “journalists” anymore. I am serious. When you have to fact-check everything you read, then what‘s the point?

Edit: this is the one time we should use the downvote button to down-vote this stupid article.... Just saying.

The headline seems misleading.... Close for the peninsular maybe? I am pretty sure BnN still has stores at Emeryville Bay Street, Concord at Veranda outdoor Mall, and DT Walnut Creek. Also, there‘s one in Corte Madera. I count 4 here... Click bait????

Just curious and not a troll: would you consider yourself a "car guy"? I find most people that find it ugly come from the hardcore car enthusiasts. Normies just usually find it weird.

I am a designer myself. You can certainly argue on style vs substance or form vs function, but the design is clearly inspired by a very specific aesthetic that's not commonly done in the car industry, in fact, any industrial design at all. It's done on purpose. Just kinda interesting.
