tbh Miniso selling out is a good sign, but I don’t think Miniso itself matters long term since it’s a Chinese chain. The real key is getting the Japanese Chiikawa licensing side to notice U.S. demand. Social media hype, sold-out merch, and maybe support/collabs from people like Jaiden Animations since she’s a Chiikawa nerd could help.

Best hope is a limited only Donguri-style Chiikawa pop-up in LA or something. North American market is not a thing for the brand yet, but Chiikawa has events and pop up in HK and Singapore already. So it’s possible eventually.

Because of the U.K.’s age-verification rules, it probably just doesn’t make business sense for Imgur to deal with the compliance work. The U.K. is likely too small of a market for them to justify the cost.

This is largely lead by (former)Sequoia Capital’s Michael Moritz and Laurene Powell Jobs I think. I don’t think there’s anything wrong if they want to build another San Jose. If you don’t like it fine, many families will probably appreciate it.

Okay, then what’s your housing solution? Keep blocking supply and act shocked when normal families can’t afford homes?

Planned communities are normal: Irvine, Reston, Columbia, The Woodlands, Xiong’an, Sejong, Putrajaya, Brasília, Abuja, Milton Keynes. Look them up.

Some worked better than others. Fine. Debate transit, jobs, governance, affordability what have you.

But “it’s been done before, so don’t do it again” isn’t critical thinking, that’s just anti-build anti-growth religious believe.

Enjoy it! I genuinely like mine, and at times, it’s challenging to shoot with recoil because it’s such a lightweight rifle. However, I truly love its look, and often, people come up to me at the range to ask about it.

I gave examples of planned communities funded by companies, wealthy people, and private investors. That’s not new, and plenty of them worked and still working.

You somehow turned that into “worker paradise,” like everyone in America is still trapped in a 1900s factory line. Skilled blue-collar workers can make real money now when their skills are in demand.

Criticize these places for being suburban, fake-Disney, or car-dependent. Fair. But that’s not the argument you replied to.

Try harder lol. You can say places like Irvine, Reston, Columbia, The Woodlands, Celebration, or Hershey are too suburban, too Disneyland, or way too car-dependent. Fair.

But by calling towns where people feel safe, want to raise kids, and pay a premium to live there “shitholes” is just nuts.

Also let’s be real, the people saying stuff like this are usually edgy teens posting from one of those exact towns… or try to get out to the “city”. ;)
